Das Schnitzel breaks out her chicken to human translator and stands on a chair so she can keep an eye on the whole cafeteria. So far a whole school year without a food fight and by Colonel Sanders goatee she will not let it happen on her watch.

"Good day students. I will be serving lunch today because the Chef is unavailable." she sighs heavily "He got his head stuck in a in between some stair railings. Gloria is using Crisco on his head as we speak...he's an idiot but he's my idiot so if I hear a word against him then you will have me to deal with."

Today's Menu Is:

-Various kinds of Pizza

-Grilled Bolonga and Cheese Sandwiches

As the student enter the shop, they'll see that it looks like a normal shop classroom with various materials for building having been pulled out from the supply closet.

"All right guys, I know this is a day late and a dollar short but I want you to build something the signifies yesterday's holiday. Or... if you are against valentine's day in general? Something that is symbolizes "Anti-Valentines" day."

CJ looks smitten, and the fact that she's reading the school paper only makes it worse.

301--3rd period

Still on family, gang. Being here, at this school, you've formed bonds. I would like a six degrees diagram of your closest relationships, followed by theirs followed by theirs. This will wind up looking like a mind map, but it's really useful in persuasive communication when you understand who knows who and how to push those big, threatening buttons. Start now, you'll probably want to list people. The whole thing, artfully done, will be due Monday.

401--5th period

I'm so glad none of you feel a need to hold back in this class. That's good. I love that you express yourselves. Now...I have the video of the SotU, and we're going to watch it. Because i am a benevolent despot, we're watching it on mute. Jump in at any point and comment on the nonverbals. Gestures, expressions, body language, both positive and negative.

"Your assignment this week," Rita said, her head in her hands, her hair frizzier than usual, and her general appearance somewhat disheveled, "is an easy one. In celebration of bloody stupid goddamn Valentine's Day, I want you to write a fifty word article on your favorite campus couple. How did they meet? Where? When? Why are they so good together - or rather, what caught your attention?"

She looked up blearily. "Questions?"

Sociology of Violence: 2nd Period

Grissom greets the class with a lecture on mass murder.

"Discussion question today. The USA Bureau of Justice Statistics defines a mass murder as the murder of four or more victims at one location, within one event. I'm also going to include spree killing, which is killings at two or more locations with almost no time break between murders, in our discussion.

I want you to choose one category of mass murder:
# 1 mass murder by individuals
# 2 mass murder by terrorists
# 3 mass murder by a state
# 4 mass murder in warfare

and define the term, by numbers, for yourself. Do you think an individual who kills three people should be considered a mass murderer? Or how about during warfare?"

Sociology of the Paranormal: 6th Period

Grissom waits for his class to enter, and then literally sits on top of his desk.

"Okay guys. Before we start the next unit, I need ask you a question. Whether from personal experience, or just your general beliefs, please answer this -

What happens to you after you die?"
[identity profile] imanaturalblond.livejournal.com
Rita? Kind of hungover.

And by "kind of" we mean "incredibly."

"Cameras. On my desk. Now. Tell everyone what you photographed and why."

Yeah, kind of grumpy. Again with the special meaning of "kind of."

"More on the President today," Josh said. "You know--the guy who, should he die tragically, would currently be replaced by a man who accidentally sprayed a 78-year-old guy with bird shot." He rolled his eyes. "There's not enough force behind the word 'stupid' to sufficiently convey my thoughts on this latest news, and I worked for a President who rode a bicycle into a tree."

Treaty negotiations and the veto )

He sat down. "So. Questions? Comments? Witty stories? Funny anecdotes?"
[identity profile] imanaturalblond.livejournal.com
"Boys and girls, I want you to answer on simple question for me today: Is it wrong to eavesdrop? Bear in mind, 'eavesdrop' implies that the person in question deliberately overheard. Is that wrong?"

Rita surveyed her class blearily. "Go on. Talk."

Greetings, class. Today, we're going to discuss the Roman Republic.

For your homework, I'd like you to write one hundred words on what you think it would be like to be either a patrician, a plebian, or a slave in the Roman Republic. Due next Tuesday but to be turned in here.

There's a rather impressive array of pastries and cookies from Jeff, God of Biscuits, arranged on the table at the front, along with various types of soft drinks and juice.

There's also a stack of papers on one corner of the table. Each paper has five pictures on it.

"Today, we endure the dreaded pop-quiz," Tommy says. "All you need to do is identify the what the fossil is and what time period it's from."

[ooc: feel free to handwave your quiz results, unless you really do want to try and identify them ;)]

Josh, slightly dumber for having wasted an hour of his life watching Doctor Phil, sat at his desk as the US History class arrived.

TJ: What a guy. )

He sat down. "Okay. Our discussion question for the day. You're packing for an expedition of unknown length across unexplored terrain full of potentially hostile people. What do you pack?"
[identity profile] dr-tommy.livejournal.com
The Danger Shop is set up to look like... well, like the bumper cars ride at a fair. There's even a cotton candy machine near the entrance.

"I know a lot of classes are having midterms right now, so I thought maybe you guys could use a break," Tommy says, by way of explanation. "Have fun."

Daniel's looking very pleased with himself today. Unless he screws up in the slow play later. But I'm sure he won't

"First off, well done to Han for the interesting presentation yesterday," he said. "Did you enjoy it, Blair?"

"Now. We're moving away from evolution, and onto genetics and inheritance.

Theories of heredity are attributed to Gregor Mendel.

While Mendel's research was with plants, the basic underlying principles of heredity that he discovered also apply to people and other animals because the mechanisms of heredity are essentially the same for all complex life forms.

Through the selective cross-breeding of common pea plants (Pisum sativum) over many generations, Mendel discovered that certain traits show up in offspring without any blending of parent characteristics. For instance, the pea flowers are either purple or white--intermediate colors do not appear in the offspring of cross-pollinated pea plants. Mendel observed seven traits that are easily recognized and apparently only occur in one of two forms:

1. flower color is purple or white
2. flower position is axil or terminal
3. stem length is long or short
4. seed shape is round or wrinkled
5. seed color is yellow or green
6. pod shape is inflated or constricted
7. pod color is yellow or green

This observation that these traits do not show up in offspring plants with intermediate forms was critically important because the leading theory in biology at the time was that inherited traits blend from generation to generation.

Since Mendel's time, our knowledge of the mechanisms of genetic inheritance has grown immensely. For instance, it is now understood that inheriting one allele can, at times, increase the chance of inheriting another or can affect how and when a trait is expressed in an individual's phenotype. Likewise, there are degrees of dominance and recessiveness with some traits.

We'll be working on examples in the next lesson, but for now... any questions? What do you think you've inherited from your parents?

For homework, I want you to learn these two lists of genetic vocabulary. I'll be testing you on a few of them at the start of the lesson on Monday. That's all, thank you guys."

The tables and chairs have been pushed apart today, because today is Test Day, oh yes.

Charlie is looking very pleased with himself as he hands out the test papers. Then he goes to sit down behind his desk and relax with some Sudoku puzzles.

(ooc: You have until Saturday to do the test, but please sign in today.
The Advanced pair will be given a more practical test as soon as I can think one up, so just sign in today and make paper airplanes or something.)

Camulus is once again entirely too happy for a morning. Even a morning on *ahem* Hump Day.

"Madainn mhath, class!" he says jovially. "Children of Lir and The Dream of Oenghus for today, covering two of the most common themes in Celtic Literature - shapechanging and love-before-first-sight, or wasting sicknesses." Camulus blathers on and on like usual. But it's Wednesday morning so everyone's asleep on their desks so it doesn't really matter.

[[Power cable troubles continue. I'm surprised I'm posting at all.]]
