"Well," Steve began as his students gathered, "today is our last day together. I hope you all learned something, if only to take a closer look at what you believe. I apologize for any problems, I'm still ironing out the kinks on this 'teaching' thing. So, today we have celebratory punch and pie for all surviving seven weeks together, but before we get to that, I'd like everyone to tell me one thing they learned or one question they've learned to ask. Go!"

"I had a different class planned this week," Steve began apologetically, "but things have gone somewhat awry. I talked earlier about what to do if your government and your nation were wrong. Well, it may have reached your notice that the government of this school is wrong. So your assignment for this week is civil disobedience. Have fun. Try not to get in the way of the wand. I am always available if you need help. Dismissed."

"Good morning, class," said Steve as the students gathered. "I don't actually have a lecture today. Instead, each of you is going to give a presentation on your nation. Then we'll discuss what you learned, and then you can run away. Sound good? Great. Let's get started."

"Congratulations," Steve said, "You're now past the halfway point of this class. I won't say I hope you've learned something, but merely that I hope you've questioned at least a little bit what you thought you already know, and also that I hope I haven't managed to mortally offend anyone. I think I owe a few of you an apology for last week, since I said a few things that weren't necessarily complimentary about systems of government other than republics, partly in quoting Mark Twain. I do believe the republic is the best system of government, but then, I am American. It's natural that I would think that. Those of you from monarchies probably believe the monarchy is the best system of government.

"With that in mind," he continued, "we're going to do something a little different this week. I'll be passing out worksheets for each of you, which I want you to take and fill in. If you don't know all the information, we have an excellent library and internet access. I'm told the internet is full of information. Next week, I want each of you to give a short presentation on your nation of origin using the information from your worksheet, because it's important for a patriot to be informed about their nation. Once you get your worksheet, you can either start filling it in or go do research."

((Sorry this is so late, I had to take my cat to the vet this morning and then LJ decided to hate me. It's like a conspiracy.))

Mr. Rogers looked around at his students as they filed in, his expression somber. Once they were all present and accounted for, he began to speak. "So, last week, I asked what you think would be the right thing to do when your loyalties are split between two nations or factions. And now I'm going to talk about what you should do if you find that somehow, your nation has gone wrong...

"Discuss."

((Most of the text of this lesson (everything under the cut) taken from one of the Spider-Man: Civil War titles. Frakked if I know which one, as all my books are currently boxed up in a closet, and there were like three. If I had to place bets I'd say Spectacular.

Er, how about I post this in the right place this time?))

Once again, Steve was waiting for his students in a clearing. "Last week, I asked you what your personal definition of patriotism was, and your answers were very interesting, and for the most part along the same lines, which just goes to show that patriotism is a universal value. And one of you made a comment that I thought was worth following up on.

Steve was waiting for his new students in a small clearing this morning. "Good morning!" he said cheerfully. "I'm Steve Rogers, and I'll be your instructor, which you probably knew already. And in this workshop, we will be discussing patriotism and what it means to be a patriot. We'll start off with introductions. Everybody tell me your name, where you're from, and something interesting about you. Then, since I'm going to have a lot of chances to tell you what I think, today I'd like to hear what you think. Tell me what you think patriotism is, and why it's important. We'll start with you," he decreed, picking someone at random.
