"Hey guys," Sam said, standing in front of a long table filled with pretty much every weapon the students had gotten a chance to try over the course of the semester - swords, bats, guns, bows, knives, and all the goodies in between. "Today's our last class, but since this isn't the type of course to lend itself to a final, I figured our 'final' would be one last look at whatever kind of weapons you guys wanted to practice with the most. Pick something you didn't get to look at very much, or what you consider the weapon you're least skilled with, and work with that today. Oh, and have a good summer, if I don't see you."

When the students arrived today, they'd see the TV and DVD player out and ready to go.

"Hey guys. So, most of the weapons we've looked at in class so far have been more Western kinds of weapons. I thought it might be a good idea to watch a movie today with some kinds of weapons we haven't worked with yet." Hopefully the old, classic, black and white aspect wouldn't throw anyone off too much.

When Sam was done tinkering with the Danger Shop controls this week, the classroom looked the same, but the weapons looked different. Instead of regular guns, there was now a table with futuristic looking weapons - blasters, tasers, and lasers, oh my.

"A lot of you said you might be using weapons in the future, and since we can't be sure what that future might look like, I figured we could play around with a few possibilities," Sam said, looking amused. "Please be careful as you practice today, and don't pick up something bigger than you think you can handle."

When the students arrived today, they'd find guns set out for them again, some small and compact and some larger with more firepower. Instead of stationary targets, there were targets swinging at a variety of speeds behind him.

"Hey, so a lot of you said you wanted practice with guns when we first met, because you didn't use them very often, or because you think you might need to use them at some point at home. I figured practice hitting a moving target might help--you can pick whatever speed you want, and we'll see how you guys do."

When the students arrived to the Danger Shop today, they'd find it looking like an old junkyard, with piles of junk haphazardly balanced against each other behind Sam.

"Hey guys. I know some of you are probably armed most of the time, and after living here for long enough, I certainly can't blame you," he said. "But there might be times when you don't have a weapon on you, or maybe you don't have your weapon of choice. Maybe it's early in the morning, or you're on a mission where you had to dress up and didn't have a good place to stash your typical arms. At times like that, if something goes wrong, you might have to improvise a weapon." Sam motioned to the piles of junk and grinned. "I want you to go through here and find something you could use as a weapon, like an extension cord you could use to choke an opponent, or something that might have been overlooked, but is still sharp. You might have to think a little violently, but... just be creative."

"Hey guys," Sam said, giving everyone a small smile before breaking out into a small coughing fit. "So, uh, my body hates me this week, so you get to watch a movie with lots of weapons in it today rather than listen to my lungs try to escape my body. Good? Good."

When the students arrived to class today, they'd find that the usual dummies had been replaced by a Danger Shop-generated gun range.

"Hey guys, I hope everyone had a great break," Sam said, grinning at everyone from between two targets. Today, instead of the target dummies, there were colorful circular targets facing the class. "Today, we're going to play around with some crossbows. We may look at regular bows and arrows at a later time, but crossbows can be a very effective weapon because they're smaller, and therefore easier to carry around, and pack a pretty significant punch."

Sam demonstrated how to load a bolt into the crossbow, and then fired at one of the targets, landing a loud, satisfying thunk close to the center of the circle. "The hardest part might be loading the bolt without snapping yourself with the string. Once you've got a handle on that, see how close you can get to the center of your target. I have a feeling some of you will be naturals at this."

When the students arrived to class today, they'd find the dummies set up as usual, along with all of the weapons they'd already discussed - knives, swords, clubs, sticks, etc.

"Hey guys. Those of you who have been here for a while probably recognize what kind of... er, situation we're dealing with in town right now. If you're new, I apologize for any possibly unwanted feelings the island's hormones are giving you. I wasn't sure how focused everyone would be today, and I thought some of you may have some tension you want to release, so we're going to call this a general practice day. Please don't abuse the Danger Shop's mechanisms, and try to stay safe, okay?"

"Hey guys, it's good to see you again today," Sam said once everyone got into the Danger Shop. "Today, we're going to be talking about working with knives. Now, a knife can be a very useful tool in an up-close fight, but it can also be used from far away, if you have the right kind of knife." Sam went to a table and showed off a variety of throwing knives. "While fighting up close can be very satisfying, doing some damage to a target before it gets to you can also be a pretty useful tactic."

As usual, there were training dummies set up in the room, and more knives for the students to choose from. "I'd like for you guys to practice with these, to see how your aim is. If you want to get up close and personal with the dummies too, that's fine."

If anyone got close to Sam when they came in, they'd find him grumbling and saying very unkind things to the controls of the Danger Shop. "Okay, it looks like this place doesn't want to be nice to me today, so we're going to watch a movie with a lot of different weapons in it instead. And some people who are supposed to be British but couldn't do an accent. And weapons that shouldn't exist in the setting of the movie. But, uh, it's still good, I swear."

Speaking of swearing, that's what Sam would continue to do while the movie was going on. Thanks, Danger Shop.

Last night, Sam had emailed the students to meet him at the park today, where he was waiting for them all bundled up. "Hey guys. Thanks for meeting me out here, I hope you all dressed warmly. I didn't want to let this weather opportunity pass us by. Sometimes, in a situation where you have to fight, you might not have a weapon on hand, and you'll have to improvise." Sam bent down and picked up a handful of snow, rolling it into a snowball. "Snow might not be devastating, but a snowball fight is always good practice. If you want to team up, you can, but otherwise, it's every person for themselves out here. Don't get too wet."

Today, the students would find Sam standing in the Danger Shop holding a baseball bat as he adjusted one of the training dummies to make sure it was steady.

"Hey guys. We're going to continue with some basic weapons today, all from the blunt family," he said, pointing to a table with clubs, bats, nightsticks, and other weapons of various sizes and weights. "It really doesn't get more basic than a blunt weapon, but that doesn't mean you can't still do some damage." Sam demonstrated this fact by going up to one of the training dummies and taking a swing that knocked the dummy's head clear off. "In a best case scenario, that was someone you didn't like, or someone trying to invade the island."

Sam showed the students a handful of the weapons--mainly where to hold them, and how much they weighed so no one would grab something they couldn't lift--and then stepped back from the table. "If you want a safe option today, find a partner and fight with these," he said, pointing to some brightly colored Nerf bats. "It's the same concept, just slightly squishier. Or, you can pick a real weapon and go at one of the dummies, or pair up together."

When the students arrived at the Danger Shop today, they'd find it set up with a long row of fresh-looking training dummies, as well as a table with a variety of swords laid out.

"Hey guys. We're going to start off this class learning about some basic weapon types, and I figured the best one to start with would be swords," Sam said, grinning excitedly. "Ever since people figured out they could heat metal up and make something sharp, they've have been using those sharp metals to stab their enemies and defend themselves. If anyone's interested in some history of swords, I have a handout here, but I don't want to bore those of you who are here for more practical purposes." He knew not everyone was a nerd, it was all right.

"There are a few different types of swords here for you to practice with: we've got broadswords, fancier rapiers, and katanas for those who'd like to play with something a little less Western. If you don't have much experience, you can grab a sword and follow along with me, or you can go at one of the dummies on your own. This room will keep you from getting hurt, so don't be afraid to try and see what you can do."
