It may have been the first class session of the morning, but Hercules was a man of his word.

Today was a pizza party.

The classroom had a table filled with pizzas from Pizza Planet, a complete variety of toppings and types of crusts. Plates, napkins, cups, and sodas were also available.

"You all triumphed over an amazing and terrible labor last weekend. You all make me very proud. So... today is pizza. If you are lactose intolerant, there are even pizzas without cheese. If you cannot have gluten... I will go get you something. But... eat up! Enjoy! And if you wish, I can answer any and all questions about... oh, anything today. That is how we will end the semester," Hercules said, before grabbing a slice of pepperoni for himself.

Hercules sent out an e-mail that morning telling his students that class was cancelled.

To: Fifteen Labors Students
From: Hercules
Subject: Class Cancelled

I for one will be fighting our would-be invaders. Do what you feel is necessary. We shall defeat this foe, and I will see you all in class next week.

There will be a pizza party in celebration. Bring your appetites.

Hercules knew that tensions were high amongst all the people of Fandom, his students included. He would not keep them long, he knew there was no lecture or activity that could possibly hold their attention for long.

But he would have something to say.

"This is the time," he said, once his students had all gathered. "The original intention of my class was to put all of you through the sort of events that test your mettle, the fires of tribulation that help forge you into who you are meant to be. This class, however, has been mere playtime. Out there, in this wide multiverse, there is something that is testing us all. I know not its name, its face, its goal, anything. But I do know one very important fact."

He cracked his knuckles and gave his class a smirk. "When I do find out what it is, and how to find it, I'm going to kick it right in its teeth. I, like many of you, have lost much in the past weeks. My entire world seems to have vanished, mortal realms, Olympus, Asgard, all of it. Nothing remains, and it put a heavy burden on my heart. But there is one thing that even this unknown foe can take from me, and I hope you will not let it take from you, either. My will to fight. My desire to combat this cruel injustice. I will not give up, I will not let my sorrow consume me. There will be a day for sorrow, if when we defeat this foe there is no way to restore the multiverse to its order. Today, tomorrow, until this foe has been defeated, it is the time to bear arms, to watch over those who cannot fight, to protect what remains and to cherish what we still have."

"You may think to yourself, 'Hercules, it is easy for you to say this, you are a hero of legend'. But you sell yourself short, if you think you cannot compare with me. I am but a man, with a few magical tools at my disposal. Even if I stripped myself of each of these artifacts, I would face down this foe with my fists and my teeth and my feet, using whatever I had so that I could say I did not back down from the face of evil. I cannot ask of you all to do the same, I would not. But know that there are many like me who will give everything to protect this island, to save those who cannot fight. If you choose to stand beside me when this foe comes our way, I will be honored to have you by my side. You will be the Jasons, the Alexander the Greats, the Janet Van Dynes and She-Hulks who I have humbled by the chance to fight beside. If you choose not to, I do not wish you to feel ashamed. I only ask that you do the most important thing you can ever do. Live to the fullest. Do not be dictated by your fears, by your anxieties. You are all heroes in your own way. Do not be ashamed of your choices, whatever you do."

He smiled and gestured to the door. "So I will not take up any of your morning, you are all free to go. Oh!" He quickly went over to his desk, where there were some large cardboard boxes. "Take a donut, too, if you wish. I thought I should repay you for making you come so early, only to send you on your way."

Today, Herc's class had been handwavily notified to dress for the weather. Why? Because there was a little bit of a field trip to be had today, led not by Hercules, but by his slightly smaller, fine feathered friend.

Warren was kind of making a face at the wriggly pug puppy that was tucked under one arm, yes.

"So, since this class is about this guy's twelve labors and then some," he said, nodding down to Hercules-the-puppy, "today, we're going to be learning about the Ceryneian Hind. The Hind was, essentially, this massive deer with golden antlers and bronze hooves. It belonged to the goddess Artemis and could outrun an arrow in flight. And Hercules had to catch it."

You guys could see where this was going, right?

"Since I can't really ask him how he went about it right now, I'll just say that the myths have a bunch of different theories, that range everywhere from asking Artemis nicely to chasing the Hind for a full year without stopping and tackling it when it went to sleep. Today, we're going to say hi to Fandom Island's slower, smaller, more teal cousins of the Hind, and we're going to do it in a much simpler way. Everyone grab a bucket of oats, and let's head out to the preserve. We'll just hang out with people today. Get to know our classmates, talk a lot, and maybe we'll see some hinds of our own."

Hercules had the class gather in a normal classroom again. The slideshow projector was back, but this time there were no craft supplies out.

A lecture. )

He pointed to a student at random. "Do you have a story you wish to share? Or perhaps you'd like to ask questions about my own experiences?"

[ooc: Please wait for OCD. Class is open!]

Hercules had constructed a very special surprise for the class today. As they gathered in a normal classroom, they would find all sorts of art supplies on tables awaiting them.

The next labor... arts and crafts )

Hercules was incredibly hung over today, which meant he was sitting at a desk in a classroom with sunglasses on, while nursing a bottle of water. Stupid mortal hangovers.

Once the class had gathered, he turned down the lights and started showing a movie so that his class could see an example of another Greek hero who had encountered great trials in his life.

Then he went to go try and nap at his desk. Today was not a great morning for Mr. Hercules.

[ooc: Minimal OCD a-coming is up! Lame class is lame, sorry]

Hercules had plans for today, oh yes he did. He also had a completely new outfit. Complete with pants! And belt pouches! He had the class assemble in a classroom, and clapped his hands together once it was time to start the session.

"One of the things about heroic deeds is that sometimes the simplest is the most important," Hercules said. "This week's task will not take place in this classroom, but out and about this weekend, as it is the glorious time of Homecoming! I want you all to do one thing this weekend for someone who could use a good deed. Perhaps you will help an old lady cross a street, or ask some shy person to dance with you at the dance, or perhaps you will save someone who is being bullied. These are all good deeds, often overlooked as unimportant, but they are far from it."

He raised a hand, a single finger outstretched and pointed at the ceiling. "But don't think you are getting out of class early, either," he said. "No, today I want a class discussion. I have been focusing on bringing out the best qualities in each of you through trials of skill, perseverance, and wit. Today I want everyone to share a labor they've endured outside of this class, and how you feel it helped shape you."

He pointed at a student at random. "You, you can start!"

Hercules had plans for today's class. Oh yes he did. The class was directed to meet in the Danger Shop, where again their teacher (resplendent in his 'battle toga') met them outside the door to the Shop itself.

"Greetings and salutations, fair heroes and heroines of Fandom!" he declared. "Beyond this door today is a test of mettle. A test of skill. A test of grit! That is all I will say now, for you must instead experience it yourself!"

And with that, he stepped out of the way. What possibly could lie beyond the door?

[ooc: Plz to wait for OCD! Class is up and ready!]

Today, the class had a note on the door directing them to head down to The Gig. What did their teacher hold in store?
[identity profile] olympian-herc.livejournal.com
Hercules gathered the class in a normal classroom today. Unlike previous classes, Hercules was wearing normal clothes, and sat at a desk that was covered in pamphlets. Once the class had all come together, he started handing out the various pamphlets, which turned out to be for all sorts of various charitable organizations.

Good Deeds! )

Hercules grinned, and gave the class a thumbs-up. "I look forward to seeing what you come up with!"
[ooc: Please wait for OCD! Open class ready for open-ness!]

Hercules cracked his knuckles as the class once again gathered outside of the Danger Shop. As was tradition for class time, he was wearing his 'battle-toga' number, just because he really liked the outfit. Once the class had all come together, he clapped his hands together and explained the day's activity.

Apples and Nymphs and Surprises, oh my! )

He grinned, and then opened the door. "Your labor awaits!"

Hercules had invited the class to meet in front of the Danger Shop, as today's task would involve some action packed adventure. Once the class had gathered, he clapped his hands together with excitement. He again was wearing his 'battle toga', with the addition of a baby Bjorn... which contained a chihuahua. Which Hercules wasn't even really acknowledging as he greeted the class.

"If you are familiar with my history, you know that one of my famous tasks was to slay the many headed hydra. If you cut off one head, two more would grow back in its place. Such a concept would inspire an entire group of green-suited fiendish evil doers who call themselves HYDRA. I believe they were run by a fellow with a red skull for a head, and battled with the mighty and magnificent Captain America. Today... you will do battle with this HYDRA. Those of you who cannot fight them head on may find other ways to help your more battle minded classmates. Once the mighty HYDRA commander has been toppled, your labor shall be complete!" Hercules said.

He opened the doors to the Danger Shop. "Enter now, and engage in adventure!"

[ooc: Wait for OCD, please Open class! Hail HYDRA!]

At bright and early 9 am, the class gathered in one of the normal classrooms. Once everyone had taken a seat, they'd notice that set across the teacher's desk was a series of items: a sheathed sword, a shield with cloth wrapped around the center, a Greek helm, and a quiver of arrows.

The first labor: Charades? )

[ooc: Class is in session!]
