They were back in the Danger Shop for this last class. There was no target range set up this time -- instead there was a number of firearms on a table as well as a table and chair for each student.

"So you've had a chance to try out a variety of different guns," John began. "Hopefully, you've developed a better understanding of them and which types best suit you. Possibly even some of you may be considering acquiring a gun of your own. There's some things still you need to know, whether you own a gun or just use one for target practice or during an invasion -- and that's how to take care of your weapon. Every gun needs to be cleaned and maintained -- preferably after each use. You skimp on that and the chances of your gun jamming or misfiring raise exponentially. So today we're going to look at gun maintainance."

John patiently took a gun of each type they'd played with and demonstrated the proper way to dismantle it, clean and oil. When he was finished he looked back up at the class. "So that's the basics. Your assignment today is to choose the type of gun you think you're most likely to use in the future and clean it. All the supplies you need are at each desk. If there's no questions, you may begin."

He paused and looked at each of the students in turn, lingering maybe a little longer on his son. "We've had some fun in this class with... unconventional targets. I hope that has allowed you all to blow off some steam and deal with your frustration. But things have got much darker and more serious. Some things are more unpredictable than demons. Stay away from the principal's office. If you're called, don't go. And for god's sake, don't go under your own accord because you want to mess with her. Some snakes are too dangerous to poke with a stick. Leave this particular viper to the adults to get rid of."

John was waiting for the class in the Danger Shop. The usual coffee was provided by the sign in sheet. For the moment the table with those items on it was all that was visible in the room.

"Good morning," John greeted them. "I'm sorry I missed the last two classes, but I understand my sons provided you with some... unique targets to practice with. We're going to continue along in that mode today."

"Origiinally this would have been our paintball class out in the woods, but I thought you all might be more inspired with a different senario." John clicked on something on the room remote he was holding and an exact replica of Umbridge's office, complete with kitten plates appeared.

"You never know when you might need to do an ambush or a blitz attack," he said with a faint smile. "You'll each have a turn to go into our little shooting range with a paintball rifle and one minute to see how many points you can get. Everything in the room is worth something --" He pushed another button and a frozen replica of Umbridge herself appeared in the seat behind the desk, "-- but I'm sure you can guess what is worth the most points.

"Be aware though, that your main target will be firing back so you're going to have to duck and dodge as well." He looked around with a wolfish grin. "You wants to go first?"

At the end of class, John nodded approvingly at them. "Well done. Now of course weapons -- even non lethal ones such as these paint ball guns shouldn't be used except in certain circumstances. There are however some variations you can do if you want to just play a game with them -- waterguns with koolaid or other slightly staining substance can work wonderfully." He paused. "Not that I'm advocating playing this senario out in real life. That would, of course be against our beloved Headmaster's rules. And that's all I'm going to say on that subject. Except to say, don't get caught. Class dismissed."

Once again, the students had been handwavily e-mailed and told to come to the Danger Shop. The table with the sign in sheet was there, along with two handouts. But instead of John, Sam was standing by the table, along with Dean, who was still in wolf form, to Sam's obvious concern.

"Hey guys," he greeted everyone as they came in. "So, my dad's still out being newly paternal, and Dean...can't exactly run class."

Dean stood up and leaned his front paws on the table and waved at the class with a paw.

Sam did his best to not laugh, not wanting to encourage Dean, and focused on the class again. "According to our dad's notes, he wanted you guys to work with some specialized weapons today, like fully automatic guns and long range sniper rifles." He smirked at Dean before adding, "And we figured that specialized weapons deserved specialized targets."

Dean gave a toothy grin and brought his paw carefully down on the Danger Shop remote. The target range shimmered into view complete with large person-shaped pink targets. A very specific person-shaped.

Sam grinned as well. "I'm familiar with both of these kinds of weapons, so I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have. Try them both out, and see which one you find easier to aim and shoot."

Dean barked an agreement, looking like he was trying to figure out how to shoot with his current form.

"You don't get to play with the guns today," Sam said sternly.

Dean whined.

"No guns," Sam repeated. "But if you behave yourself, I'll let you have one of the targets to do whatever you want with."

Dean looked hopeful and barked a question.

Sam laughed, having some idea of what Dean just asked. "Whatever you want to do is fine. Just don't eat the target."

"Woof."

"I'll take that as an agreement," Sam said, rolling his eyes.

The class met in the cabin clearing as they were handwavily emailed to do so.

"Hey guys," Dean said, once everyone was there. "Dad's busy relearning the joys of diapers and 2 am feedings so you get me as a teacher for the next couple of weeks.

"Today, we're going to do a little skeet shooting," Dean said, handing each person a handout on the subject. He grinned."Cept we're going to do it Winchester style.

"We never had the money or the opportunity to practice on a real genuine skeet shooting range, so we improvised. Dad bought lots of old plates from thrift stores and juryrigged a catpault to get them airborne for us to shoot. Sammy's standing over there by the catapault," Dean nodded towards where his brother was standing by a obviously homemade machine. "So all we need is some plates to put in it."

Dean grinned widely and reached into the sack on the table beside him and pulled out one of Umbridge's kitten plates and tossed it to his brother, who, wearing a matching grin, loaded it into the catapault and nodded at Dean.

Picking up his shotgun, Dean yelled, "Pull!" at which, Sam triggered the catpault and the plate went sailing high into the air. Dean tracked the plate with his gun for a heartbeat or two before firing, hitting the plate deadon, shattering it into many pieces.

Still grinning widely, Dean turned back to the class. "That's one plate down, but there's plenty more. Who wants a turn next?"

As before the class was in the Danger Shop and which was set up in the by now familiar shooting range. The coffee was there on the table by the sign in sheet and another handout.

"Good morning," John said. "Last week, we worked with handguns. This week we're moving on to shotguns. The handout will give you a little of their history and the different types you might want to try.

"One thing in particular about shotguns is the ability they have to use many different kinds of ammunition. For instance, those who took Hunting with me will know that I often use rocksalt rounds against ghosts, but that's just one variation. What I'd like for you to do today is not only try different types of shotguns, but also different types of ammunition.

"As always, I'm here if you have any questions or want advice."

Once again the class was in the Danger Shop, which was set up to look like a target range again. There was coffee and donuts on the table with the sign in sheet as well as another handout.

"Good morning," John said, putting down his own cup of coffee. "Today we're going to be looking -- and trying out -- various sorts of handguns." He talked at some length about the various types and advantages and disadvantages, covering the information that was in the handout.

"But enough talking," he said finally. "What you're all here for is to get to actually try them out for yourself. So please step up to one of the open spots on the target range. Like last week, the computer will provide whatever gun you ask to try -- as long as that gun falls under the category of handgun and is a projectile -- not energy -- weapon. If you're comfortable with a certain type of handgun, try something different. I'll be around to each of you to observe and give advice and suggestions as I feel are needed. And if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Please remember the gun safety rules we talked about last week and follow them; failing to do so will earn you detention." John looked around at the students and gave a boyish grin. "So, shall we begin?"

The Danger Shop was set up like an outdoor target range. Off to the side was a table set up with the sign-in sheet, several handouts, and an urn of coffee.

"Good morning," John greeted the class. "Welcome to Firearms and You. What you should come away from this workshop with is the knowledge of how to take care of and fire various types of guns and the confidence to know when, and more importantly when not to use them.

"You've picked up two handouts; the first one is a general overview of firearms, the history and different types, a number of which you'll have a chance to try out in this class. The second is about gun safety. I expect you all to read it and follow the rules it lists. Not doing so will have consequences ranging from detention to being asked to leave the range for the rest of that class -- or longer for repeated violations." John paused and looked around, trying to figure out which would be the ones most tempted to break the rules. "We're not dealing with toys here and I expect you all to treat the guns as the weapons they are.

"Now for this first session, I'd like to get to know you and what experience you already have. So we're going to go around and have each person give their name and, if you feel capable, step up to the range and demonstrate what you can do. The computer will provide whatever weapon you ask for." He paused. "'I don't have experience' is a perfectly acceptable response."

John looked around and smiled. "So who is going first?"

John met the class by the campfire in the cabin clearing as all students had been handwavily informed to do so. There was still the usual coffee and sign in sheet, as well as a handout. There was also a pile of equipment -- protective goggles and facemasks, camouflage jumpsuits and a wide variety of weapons.

"Good morning," John said. "Now that you've had a chance to try out and hopefully get comfortable with different types of guns, we're going to have a little fun and test how good you've become in a situation more like real life. I'm going to divide you into two teams and send you out into the woods. The object is to eliminate everyone on the opposing team before they eliminate you.

"Now obviously this isn't something we can use real guns and live ammo for," John said with a faint smile, "so we're going to be using paintball weapons. The handout you picked up gives some basic information on this kind of exercise and there's a number of differently modified paintball guns for you to choose from. The protective goggles and facemasks are mandatory; other than that you can pick and choose among the rest of the equipment for the combination that you think will best help you to win."

John looked around at them. "The teams will be as follows: Team One will consist of Jo Harvelle, Chris Halliwell, Lana Lang, Tannim Drake, Luke Skywalker, Billy Kessler, Z Delgado and Dawn Summers. Team Two will consist of Andros, John Sheppard, Wyatt Halliwell, Abigail Whistler, Peter Pensvie, Eve Levine, Bridge Carson and Turtle Wexler. Are the any questions?"

Once he had answered any questions there were, John said, "Okay, you've ten minutes to get together with your team and arm up. After that it'll be time to head into the woods and start the exercise."

is here. Because I am an idiot today... *facepalm*

When the students file into the Danger Shop, they'll see it's been set up a bit differently today. The table with the sign in sheet and coffee are still in the same place but the range itself was different. Instead of paper targets there was a wide open space that looked like a graveyard at night.

"Good morning," John said. "Now that you've had a chance to try the more common types of guns, we're going to up the ante a little. Being able to shoot and hit a stationary target is one thing, but it's not a situation you're likely to face much outside of target practice. In the real world, if you ever need to use a gun, chances are it's going to be against something moving.

"Which brings us to today's assignment. Instead of shooting targets today, we're going to be playing shoot the zombie. Choose any gun and ammo you want -- for this assignment any will work on the zombies -- step up to the line and see how many zombies in the graveyard you can hit." He grinned wolfishly at them. "Who's going first?"
