Firearms and You #7, (Monday period 1)

They were back in the Danger Shop for this last class. There was no target range set up this time -- instead there was a number of firearms on a table as well as a table and chair for each student.

"So you've had a chance to try out a variety of different guns," John began. "Hopefully, you've developed a better understanding of them and which types best suit you. Possibly even some of you may be considering acquiring a gun of your own. There's some things still you need to know, whether you own a gun or just use one for target practice or during an invasion -- and that's how to take care of your weapon. Every gun needs to be cleaned and maintained -- preferably after each use. You skimp on that and the chances of your gun jamming or misfiring raise exponentially. So today we're going to look at gun maintainance."

John patiently took a gun of each type they'd played with and demonstrated the proper way to dismantle it, clean and oil. When he was finished he looked back up at the class. "So that's the basics. Your assignment today is to choose the type of gun you think you're most likely to use in the future and clean it. All the supplies you need are at each desk. If there's no questions, you may begin."

[ooc: wait for ocd's up! Thanks for a great class!]

Turtle's trying to take as best notes as she could; this was important, after all, and it was also a distraction from thinking about other things.

Jo worked on a shotgun.

The kind of shotgun that could be used to shoot Mounties in the ass if the situation required it.

Dawn took a lot of notes on this part--she figured that even if she couldn't fire guns, she could help clean afterwards.

Finding a gun that was similar (if not the same) to her own gun, Turtle worked with focus and diligence in figuring out how to do all this.

Billy picked the nine millimeter handgun, and began to clean it. His movements were practiced, and familiar. He'd done this many times before.

Z carefully and methodically cleaned a handgun.

Uncle Owen had been just as insistent about this back on the farm, so even though the rifle in Luke's hands was a different model, he understood the concept behind it.

He pulled it apart, cleaned it and reassembled it in fairly ridiculous time.

After a few minutes, Dawn picked up a shotgun and started disassembling and cleaning it, glancing occasionally at her notes to make sure she was doing it properly.

Lana found one of the Sigs and carefully took it apart, cleaned it, and put it back together very competently.

John took apart, cleaned, and reassembled a M9 Beretta.

Since it was most likely that her dad would have her using handguns, Abigail chose one of those to clean and put back together, while doing her best to not be distracted by John.

Wyatt went for a handgun. He liked the shotgun, but this was easier to carry concealed.

Eve found a handgun and promptly set about cleaning it. And looking like she'd done this a whole lot before which she had, really.
