jedigrammarians: (Aphra: that's the plan)

Today, the Danger Shop was set up to look like the fanciest of fancy museums, with class meeting on the steps outside.

"Today's the big day, when you're going to put your fake crime plans into real fake action." Yes that sentence made perfect sense to Aphra.

"Within that building is so much loot...-ed. Looted treasures, yes," Isabela added. "That's you're going to liberate for the good of everyone. And especially yourselves."

"Just know that whatever happens today, we'll be proud of you." As they watched. From outside. Did they look stupid enough to actually be taking part.

Don't answer that.

Your teachers had taken one look at the situation over the weekend and bravely noped the hell out of there.

Which would be why anyone who turned up to class would find an empty classroom with a movie playing on loop.

Aphra entered the classroom dramatically. "Check in time!"

"Yes, it's time to see we're we all at in regards to our heist planning," Isabela added. "Because we should be nearly ready to go."

"If I point at a random person they should be able to tell me all the details of their part," Aphra said, pointing at a random person.

You had been planning this heist, right?

Your teachers were back, and Isabela for one was looking very satisfied with herself.

"After the week we've just had, I'm sure you're all looking to recharge a bit of energy," she said. "So we'll be having a movie day." Again. Some more.

"It's been a while since this one's been shown." Unless you were in Ghanima's class, but Aphra neither knew or cared about that. "But it's a classic."

Today in a rare feat of teacherly responsibility your teachers were...well, absent, again, but not because they couldn't be bothered showing up. But because they had the self-knowledge to realise it would be a terrible idea to be there today.

That was their story and they were sticking to it.

They'd even included a sexy heist movie (though the less sexy sexy heist movie) for you all to watch.

Responsible teaching!

Neither of your teachers were here today.

Where were they? (A bar, probably.) More importantly did you actually care? (No, probably.)

Enjoy your surprise free period.

Today the classroom had a big board set up in it. A big plain board.

"Today we're going to be covering one of the most important parts of making a heist plan," Aphra said. "Visualising it."

Because there was something about a big board with a plan up on it that made a criminal conspiracy feel real.

"Now you don't necessarily need to physically make this sort of thing," Isabela added. In fact it was evidence and probably not the best thing to keep around. "But it's a good way to see where you might still have holes in the plan that need taking care of."

Not that either of your teachers had ever had any of those.

"So we have The Board, and various supplies to map out our plan on it." Including quite a lot of red string. "Let's get to it."

"When considering a heist you also have to consider the getaway." Just skipping over a bunch of stages there, Aphra. "Regardless of whether it goes right or wrong, but especially when it goes wrong."

"Sometimes you don't even have to have done a heist in order to have to do a getaway," Isabela added, helpfully.

"Yes, sometimes people just decide to hunt you down through no fault of your own." Are you sure about that 'no fault' business, Aphra, are you really sure.

"As can be seen by today's educational film."

"It has extremely relatable protagonists."

Your teachers were here, and the Danger Shop was set up with an extremely complicated obstacle course that had most likely originally been designed by a different teacher entirely. Or several teachers, because there was quite a mish-mash of styles going on here.

"Preparation doesn't just mean making a plan!" Not that they'd done much of that so far this semester. "It also means preparing yourself."

"After all you never know when you might need to make a quick exit or a dramatic entrance." Would anyone in the room be shocked that the answer was often? For both of them? Didn't think so.

"So today you'll be testing your skills against various obstacles to help determine what you might need to work on."

That and the Danger Shop had glitched and wouldn't let them change the program.

Your teachers did not want to talk about their weekend. So much so that they weren't actually present at the front of the classroom today, and there was a note on the whiteboard.

Class cancelled

Sorry, but their recovery from forced domesticity and unnaturally induced monogamy was much more important than your education. Much.

In addition to your teachers, today there was a third person at the front of the class, who looked simply thrilled to be there, and not at all like she'd been abducted on her way to work by a pair of ethically challenged disasters.

"To help you get into the spirit of working together as a team, we thought we'd all play a little game today," Aphra announced, grinning broadly.

"Which is why we thought we'd get a lovely volunteer to help us out," Isabela added, also grinning broadly.

Vi who was not a volunteer, or grinning broadly, shuffled some papers with a sigh. "We're going to be playing Honey Heist," she said, passing out a character sheet and a copy of the rules to everyone. "It's a one page game where you are going to undertake the greatest heist the world has ever seen. You have a complex plan that requires precise timing, and you are all bears."
