locointhecoco: (party time!)

Guess what Pinkie has planned for the last day of class for the session. Go on, guess.

No, seriously, Pinkie loves guessing games.

It's a PARTY!

It's not just any old party, though! It's only the most fantabulously fantastic-mazing party time party of the whole wonderful party world of amazement! With decorations and streamers and fairy-lights and pinwheels and piƱatas and pin-cushions! With goodies like sugar cubes and sugar canes and sundaes and sun-beams and sarsaparilla! And all of Pinkie's favorite-est of favorite fantabulous games, like Pin the Tail on the Pony!

Pinkie has pulled out all the stops on this one. There's a costume trunk for those who want to do a costume party and a magic trunk for those who want to do a magic party and a pirate trunk for those who want to do a pirate party! There's balloons and basketballs and ballerina tutus and decorative Bastille Day posters! Rocking jams are blasting from a Pinkie's pony ghetto blaster, and she's whipped up a giant bowl of Gummy's favoritest punch! (You can tell by the way Gummy is swimming in it.) There's moddable and strange party favors and even a table of equally moddable and equally strange presents for everypony, but best of all, the party is just full of all the new friends everypony has made in the class all session! Because that's what truly makes a party magic: friendship.

And cake. Which is why Pinkie's got a stripper-sized one of those in the corner.

Pinkie greeted the students as they came in with the biggest broadest grin she could summon -- which, it being Pinkie, was pretty big and broad.

And maybe a touch creepy.

"Welcome back, everypony! I know last week wasn't really the bestest week ever for a lot of you, so I thought this week we'd all take our minds off our gloomy troubles and laugh them away! Just like my grandmare used to tell me!"

Yep. That was totally a song cue.

Lyrics ahoy! )

After a pause for applause, Pinkie grinned at the students again. "Oh, I know it doesn't work all the time, but it's a great first step! And to get you all giggling today, we're going to play some of my very favoritest party games, and any games you want to play, too!"

Pinkie was almost late for class, today. She'd been side-tracked by trying to sing morals into a pack of rampaging mutated alots. Amazingly, they'd actually enjoyed her song and dance routines less than the buffalo had, but Pinkie had made it out unscathed, in a way that only Pinkie ever could.

She'd hoped the alots would explain why her Pinkie sense had been going wild for two days -- knee jerks, ear flops, tail twithes, eye flutters, shoulder aches, the works, but most of all, the persistent shudder -- but it kept right at it even as she watched the students come in and take their seats. Why, she was shuddering so much now that she was visibly vibrating up off the floor.

Whatever this was, it was going to be a major doozy.

"We-e-e-elcome cla-a-a-a-ass," she greeted. "Toda-a-a-a-ay we're going to ta-a-a-a-alk about pa-a-a-arty mu-u-u-usic! So-o-o-o-o let's get da-a-a-a-a-ancing!"

Pinkie had been thinking of doing another dance number, but even she realized this would be problematic when she sounded like she was talking into a fan, so she just went over to the turntables in the corner -- of course those were always there, what do you mean you didn't notice them? -- and started them up.

"We'll a-a-a-a-a-all ta-a-a-ake tu-u-u-u-urns spi-i-i-i-inning tra-a-a-a-a-cks. Wo-o-o-o-on't that be fu-u-u-u-un?"

Pinkie had the class meet her in one of the more home-ec-y classrooms this week. When they came in, they'd find that each workstation had been stocked up with chef's hats, a large mixing bowl, a wide assortment of ingredients, a cookbook open on a stand, and a set of muffin tins.

Someone notify Stark and Anders: the pony was stealing their shtick.

"Today's class is all about party food!" Pinkie announced happily when it was time for class to begin. "And nothing says 'PARY!' like a cake! Or even better, lots of MINI cakes! The best way to really show your party guests that you care is to bake them yourselves, of course, which is why today, we're all going to bake ourselves some cupcakes! It's super easy!"

Aaaaaaaaand she burst into song:

"See? Easy as the pinkiest of all pies!" Yeah, she totally went there. "Now, you all should have everything you need to make a batch of delicious cake-y treats! So have fun!"

[ooc: Imma gonna attempt some OCD right here. It worked! Woo!]

The classroom looked oddly barren this week when the students entered. Pinkie wasn't in hiding this time -- so odds were against any costumed performances -- but was sitting at her desk, her front hooves propped up against the desktop as she watched everyone enter.

There was the usual table with tea and punch and breakfasty snacks on hand, but other than that . . . it looked like a normal classroom.

"Hi!" Pinkie said, once it seemed everyone had arrived. "Welcome back again! I'm so glad to see you all! Did any of you get to go to Kenzi's wild squirrel party this week? It was tons of fun, and out in the park where anyone could come by, which was super nice of her! Parties in public places can mean you get to skimp on the invitations a bit, but don't forget about that extra personal touch when you want to make a party really magical." She threw her front hooves in the air in an excited V, then hopped up and trotted around to the front of the desk.

"Of course, if there's no invitations, why, how do you know it's a party going on? Well, the first hint is all the people having fun, of course, but what about before the first guests arrive? Nothing says 'PARTY!' like the right kind of decorations. Your decorations can let your guests know where the party is, what the theme is, who the party's for, or just give them something neat to look at and play with! And decorations can be anything that makes the party space special. You could have streamers and pretty lanterns and fancy table cloths and even fountains and sculptures! But my personal favorite decorations are the BALLOONS!"

Which, naturally, was the cue for dozens of multi-colored balloons to drop from the ceiling, along with loads of confetti. Pinkie pranced and danced happily through the falling balloons, nodding and encouraging the students to join her as she batted them around with her nose and her tail.

"So today we're going to decorate!" She reached the end of the room and threw open a closet, from which piles of supplies came tumbling out. "We have streamers and lanterns and table clothes and fountains and sculptures and confetti and hats and monkeys and paper trees and flowers and centerpieces and cup holders and ducks and curtains and BALLOONS!" Pinkie dragged a helium tank out of the closet with her teeth, only to accidentally inflate herself to the point of floating up into the air. When she let go, she flew around the room like a deflating balloon to land, giggling, on top of her desk. "So grab some supplies and get decorating!" she said, her voice somehow even higher than usual. "And don't forget to have fun!"

The classroom was set up the same way as last week, complete with table of snacks, streamers, and balloons. Pinkie Pie was nowhere in sight as the students filed in. Once everyone seemed to have arrived, the lights dimmed, and a spotlight lit up the center of the semi-circle of chairs.

Pinkie had arrived.

She stood tall on all four hooves in the center of the spotlight, grinning up at the ceiling, wearing a dress reminiscent of the late 19th century frontier. And fishnets. She posed dramatically for a moment, before launching into her singing telegram number.

lyrics under here )

She finished with a flourish and paused for applause.

"There's loads of ways to invite ponies to a party," she said, once she felt she'd paused for an appropriate amount of time. "Songs are always fun and really catch a pony's attention, but it can get real tiring real fast if you're inviting more than a few people. That's where paper invitations come in!" She pulled a basket from behind the teacher's desk, full of envelopes each sealed with real sealing wax. "If you deliver them yourself, you still get to see that look of joy when your guests find out they get to come to a super-fun party! What are some other ways to spread the party word? How do you make all of your guests feel special? Get together and talk about it, and while you're at it, you can make some invitations of your own!" She set the basket down in the middle of the floor, along with a stack of fancy parchment, some quills and ink jars, candles, and sealing wax.

Because nothing said party like hot wax.

[ooc: apologies for the lateness. OCD is a go! Party on.]

On the surface, Pinkie Pie's classroom looked surprisingly normal. The desks were arranged in a pleasing semi-circle, in which one could see any seat from any other seat in the room, with plenty of open space in between them for a grown pony to wander through. The desk at the front was covered with a sheet, hiding something somewhat lumpy and mysterious, but the sideboard counter had a coffee pot and a hot cocoa pot, and a nice array of apple turnovers and jelly donuts (with apple jelly) for the students to choose from.

A rope hung to one side of the chalkboard. Pinkie would get to that. First, she waited for the stream of students to subside and settle into seats, then strode to the middle of the semicircle and tossed her mane.

And then she did her introduction and lecture in entirely one breath. )
