"Hello, everyone, and welcome to our final gathering," Thor greeted once everyone had arrived at the Danger Shop. "I thought it appropriate to save the best for last, as it were, and so today we are going to microwave strings of tiny light bulbs." Because the results were very sparkly. "I'm not sure saying 'I hope you learned something in this class' is entirely accurate, but I do hope that at least some of your curiosity has been satisfied with regards to objects that one should not normally place within a microwave, and I would be pleased to see any of you in my class this fall, as you have been a most excellent group."

Well, the corrupted program issue had been fixed, thankfully, because the usual let's-microwave-stuff-we-shouldn't classroom setup was back today. Along with several cans of air freshener spray, because today's experiment was bound to be a little on the unpleasantly smelling side.

"Today's task is to microwave something typically used to store information- a compact disc." If you asked Thor, these discs didn't look very compact at all, but whatever. Midgard was strange. "You will notice I've provided you with a can of scented air- this is because the results are likely to smell unpleasant, so you may wish to release some of the scented air once you have opened your microwave to observe your results."

Thor had arrived a few minutes before class as usual, to get the Danger Shop simulation up and running... only to find his usual 'room full of microwaves and safety equipment' program had somehow become corrupted.

Technology of any sort wasn't really his forte, especially primitive Midgardian technology, so instead he went back to his office to send out a quick email to his students to let them know class was cancelled.

[ooc: sorry guys, i'm still so fucking exhausted from the mess that was trying to get home (san diego to denver to san francisco to edmonton over 24 hours spent in various airports WHAT THE HELL) that i totally, totally spaced on class.]

The item on the agenda for today was no stranger to microwaves... admittedly, usually it was prepared in some manner before making its way into the machine.

But not today. Today, everyone was going to see what would happen when one put a whole egg, still in the shell, into the microwave.

"Today I thought we would experiment with another food item," Thor explained. "Although without removing it from the shell first. So take your egg, select the time you wish, and then step back." Honestly, at this point the class needed very little direction, but still.

"I hope you all have been having a pleasant week so far," Thor greeted the students as they filed in to the Danger Shop. He'd spent the weekend believing himself to be the heir to a 'mob dynasty', whatever that was. Midgard was strange.

"Today's task will not involve anything catching fire," he said, sure that at least a few of his students would be disappointed by that. "We are going to microwave soap. I am sure you are all familiar with the way it reacts when it gets wet," at least he hoped they were familiar. They did seem like a group that cared about hygiene, anyway. "So let's find out what happens when we heat it up."

A few weeks ago, during a Skype call with Jane, Thor had mentioned his workshop plans for the second half of the summer. At first, she'd given him that look of fond exasperation he'd come to know fairly well, but then... she'd launched in to an excited explanation of something called 'plasma' and an experiment he ought to let his students try.

"Today, we are microwaving grapes," he informed everyone once they'd assembled in the Danger Shop. "I am told the results can be quite spectacular, and will produce something called 'plasma', the same substance that stars are comprised of. Science, especially Midgardian science, is not my field of study, but I have been provided with these handouts should you like to learn more about plasma."

See? This class could totally be educational even if it was mostly just 'let's see what happens when we do the thing'.

Yeah, this was definitely a class that was going to regularly be meeting in the Danger Shop. Thor was maybe a little reckless when it came to charging in to battle, but less so when dealing with his students. So while they'd be spending the next seven weeks putting things they were told never to put in microwaves into microwaves, they'd be doing it in an environment with safety controls so that things could get shut down if necessary.

"Hello, and welcome to Fun With Microwaves!" he greeted everyone. "I do hope you signed up for this class on purpose. If you did not, I hope you enjoy the next several weeks in any case. I assume most of you have some passing familiarity with the microwaving device?" he checked. "If so, then you are probably aware that there are some objects you are advised not to place within its confines. In this class, we will be ignoring those guidelines, and every week shall microwave a different object or substance to see what happens." Why? Because why the heck not, that's why. Hence why there was a microwave in front of each student. As well as lab coats and safety goggles, because of the possibility of things getting a little messy.

"But before we begin, although I recognize some of you, sharing names is an important tradition on the first day of class. I am Thor Odinson, and shall be your instructor for this session. Please share with the group your name, the year of schooling you will be entering in the fall, and what is one thing you'd always wanted to put in the microwave but did not?"

Once introductions were done, he handed out several packs of bubble gum to each student. "All you need to do is place the chewing gum substance within the microwave, and then set the timer for whatever length of time you desire. Then, watch the results."

Yeah, as far as classes went, this one was bound to be pretty straightforward.
