Welcome back to Cyborg Theory.

Last week’s class was very successful as you all tried to work out the warning signs of the true identity of a human-form robot.

Today, you have all been informed that Anakin, Kawalsky, Cally, Lee and Aeryn are human-form robots. What are your varying reactions to this news? How would you react to discover that your close friend, acquaintance, classmate and/or that person over there, omg, was not, in fact, human?

I have places for you to comment with your general reactions, if you have any, and specific reactions.

And for the faux-robots in the class, what would be your reaction to (a) discovering that people know, (b) the reactions of your loved ones to this news.

Please show me both your first knee-jerk reaction and a more thoughtful analysis.

//Also, remember that your papers on this exercise are due on Wednesday. I will get them back to you and your grade for the class so far next Monday.//

Remember that participation is mandatory in this class!!1!

We are starting a new class project. I have tagged five members of the class via a secret email. Those students have just discovered that they are human-form robots. Your job as a class is to figure out who those five students are and how you would react if you discovered they were not as human as they acted. This should take tonight's class period and next weeks. You are also allowed to work on this over the week.

For the ones who are cylons human-form robots: Your job is to keep the real humans guessing and to write a report on how you had to hide your true identity followed by how you had to deal with how the "humans" in your class reacted to you.

For those who are humans: Your job is to give me a report on how you felt to discover your close friends and school mates were not what you thought they were.

For those of you who are actually cylons in disguise: I have cake and tea for you after class as this project may be traumatizing.

The reports will be due Wednesday, October 19.

Also, I will call attendance. Please respond when I say your name.

Greetings my dear class. First topic for the day is attendance as it looks like my class is slimming down. In last week’s class, we were missing barefoot_tahiri, cyloninyourhead, magitekboy, pyramid_is_life and radekzelenka. I need to know if these ladies and gentlemen are still interesting in learning cyborg theory. Also, I have heard rumors of some of you transferring out of Fandom High and I would like to know your status as soon as possible.

I’m going to call roll, please respond when you hear your name.

Also, homework has been lax. I received answers to my question on the Matrix from Kawalsky (A-), Anakin (A+) and Beka (A+). I would so like to not fail all of you mid-semester.

today’s class… )

This is a friendly reminder for all my students to forward me your homework that I assigned in our last class. I have already received assignments from Bender and Beka, many thanks there.

Please send your assignments here and I can also address any questions you may have.

Second order of business is attendance: [livejournal.com profile] cerulean__eyes, [livejournal.com profile] leeadama, [livejournal.com profile] magitekboy, [livejournal.com profile] thehurleyabides, and [livejournal.com profile] whitedeathpod need to contact me at once if you gentlemen still want to be in my class. I would not like to resort to torturing you with my hand in your brain. You all seem like such nice boys.

Attention students of [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh, human and otherwise –

Introduction to Cyborg Theory
Class to be held Monday nights at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. – chiefly due to the fact that several films will be shown in this class to aid understanding of certain theories.

Course Description: This is an upper division elective course that will address the concepts of artificial intelligence, cyborgs, nano-tech, human-form robots from both a scientific and art (film, television, fine arts, etc) perspective.

Grade Evaluation: This is a pass/fail course. If you miss three classes, you will be put on probation from the class. After five classes missed, you will be allowed to withdraw or be given a failing grade.

This is a lecture/discussion course with a little research and a lot of fun films staring most of us, actually, errr….

Course Text: TBA

Instructor: I am Eighth of my kind; you may refer to me as Dr. Carter or Eighth, as you will. For more information, here's a brief history. And [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh!RC is completely different (ie. far less slutty) than [livejournal.com profile] soapgatesgwun!RC, so don't get any funny ideas! *winks*

I highly recommend this class for all students who have had or will have dealings with artificial intelligence and the like. The best way to understand the enemy is to understand her perspective, eh?

Please comment if you wish to enroll.
