English & Honors English
Wednesday, September 7th, 2005 07:17 pmOOC: As I mentioned in
fandomhigh_ooc, all of the English classes are in a strange sort of magic time whereupon this class could be elapsing on just about any day for your character. Please don't think about it too much. If you do, your brain might break into a thousand pieces -- and that would be bad. Very bad indeed. I'm also breaking this post into two comment threads for English and Honors English alike, as both classes have more or less the same things.
English / Honors English :: Day One
The English classroom at first glance appears to be one of those Places That Time Forgot -- upon entering, the first thing that's instantly visible are stacks and stacks of books, all of which are .... well, stacked not so neatly upon the floor. Rows of desks are set up somewhat haphazardly through the room for students to sit at -- and at the very front of the room is a large teacher's desk, which the professor is currently sitting upon.
Behind the teacher's desk, there is one large window which seems to indicate that the outside day is, in fact, a wintry December evening, an image distinctively at odds with the fall day that the students have no doubt just come in from. As the students file into the room, Jenny bounds to her feet. "Um, hello! My name is, um, Jennifer Schecter, but you can call me Jenny. I'm, um, going to be teaching you all English this year. Well, the English language, I mean. How to use the English language better, I mean, because of course you all already know how to speak English, or you wouldn't be here, right?
"And, um, anyway? I know it's the first day of classes, but I think it would be a good idea for us to get to know each other, so, um, I'd like you all to fill this sheet out and return it to me by the end of the class period. Um. If you like, you can discuss the results with one another, because I think it's really crucial for us to get to know each other so we can realize how interrelated we all are, and this is the fastest way for us to, um, really get to realize what kindred spirits we all are to one another." And then she gets up and starts passing out the worksheets.
( Worksheet. )
Walking back to her seat on top of her desk, Jenny smiles brightly. Oh, so brightly. "Well, what are you all looking at? Fill the worksheet out! Discuss! I'll be walking around to answer any questions that you might have."
