"Good morning!" Annie cried out sunnily, from in front of a bank of bikes.

Of course, since everyone had totally gotten a message to meet outside today...they were actually real bikes. As were the very real helmets, and the very real baskets that could be affixed to the bikes, and the bells, and the streamers, and so on.

"So, first of all, today your final is that we're gonna take a bike ride around the island. Yes -- over the stairs." It would be a challenge! And she had training wheels if anyone needed them. "But also, these are yours to take home. Thanks for being such an awesome class -- everyone should have a bike, and now you all do, too."

One of the benefits of having a teacher who was also a gazillionaire who had no idea how to spend her money: she went a little above and beyond the whole 'maybe donuts for the last day of class?' thing.

"Good morning!" Annie sang out, once more in front of that bank of bikes in the Danger Shop. But this week, there were a couple of differences.

First and foremost: no training wheels for any of you! Not even an option! Deal.

But secondly -- and more fun, and, let's be real, probably the reason you're in this class -- there was an array of decorations and accessories available for the bikes.

"Today, we're going to ride again," Annie told them, "but part of having a bike is making it yours. So, you don't get to keep these, obviously -- they're holograms or whatever -- but you get to practice decorating them. So, we have streamers -- they'll blow in the wind when you ride -- baskets, bells...."

She picked up one of the bells and rang it cheerfully to demonstrate.

"So, decorate your bikes, and then I want everyone to try riding again! I'm around if you need help or a push or anything."

"Morning, everyone!" Annie sang out, in a much better mood this week. And instead of cooped up in a classroom watching a movie -- which had not been in the syllabus, no -- Annie was instead in front of the same bank of bicycles from a couple weeks ago.

Except now they didn't have training wheels. There were training wheels available, off to the side over there, along with the associated brackets, bolts and tools that would be needed to affix them to a bike.

"So, today, we're going to work on actually riding these suckers without the training wheels," she said, cheerful enough as she wheeled a bike over to demonstrate. "You'll want to keep one foot on the ground, like this, until you're ready to start pedaling -- and then once you start pedaling, your momentum will keep you upright. And it's going to feel so weird, probably, and you might fall over, but it's okay. We're all just learning." And since it was the Danger Shop, no one would actually get hurt, anyway.

That would be a future class. Something to look forward to!

"Morning," Annie murmured in greeting to the class, clearly stifling a yawn even as she sipped at a massive coffee from the Perk. "I know this is crazy, but we're having a movie day, guys."

For bike-riding class. Yes.

"This movie is about a guy who rides a bike for work, and gets in over his head," she explained. "Maybe by the time we're done with this class, you'll all be prepared to be bike couriers, too!"

Probably not.
