Firearms and You #3 (Monday, period 1)

As before the class was in the Danger Shop and which was set up in the by now familiar shooting range. The coffee was there on the table by the sign in sheet and another handout.

"Good morning," John said. "Last week, we worked with handguns. This week we're moving on to shotguns. The handout will give you a little of their history and the different types you might want to try.

"One thing in particular about shotguns is the ability they have to use many different kinds of ammunition. For instance, those who took Hunting with me will know that I often use rocksalt rounds against ghosts, but that's just one variation. What I'd like for you to do today is not only try different types of shotguns, but also different types of ammunition.

"As always, I'm here if you have any questions or want advice."

Lana was pretty sure this was a bad class to attempt with a concussion, but it was class. How could she miss it?

Billy was really glad his ribs were all better.

Z experimented with various types of shotguns and ammo. She really thought her aim was improving!

It really wasn't.

John tried out the Dragon's Breath ammo. He was really impressed by the flamethrower action.

John also tried the Bolo rounds cuz they seemed really cool.

Dawn heaved a sigh of relief. Shotguns were easier for her.

After some consideration, she selected a pump-action Winchester rifle with rock salt shot to start and fired at the targets. The recoil wasn't pretty and she almost fell over twice, but she managed to hit what she was aiming for most of the time.

Turtle was quite clearly really, really hesitant as she looked over the shotguns. These guns...were really biiiig.

Turtle clearly didn't have much gun experience, could you tell?

After warming up with the stuff she was familiar with, Jo started experimenting with the unfamiliar models and ammo.

Peter tried as many different combinations of shotguns and ammo as possible. Shotguns were easier to aim for him than handguns for some reason. He needed to remember that.

Luke grinned as he worked with the shotguns. This was like being back home.

Except these suckers kicked a lot harder.

After a few misses, Luke was hitting the bullseye with freakish regularity.

Chris tried a variety of shotguns and types of ammo. It took him a while to get used to the feel, but after some practice, he started getting the hang of it.

Lana tried out a shotgun and ended up getting knocked over by the recoil, nearly missing banging her head again. Between that and the noise she wasn't doing very well. She sat back down and held her head in her hands rather than attempting to shoot again.

Wyatt experimented with different types of shotguns and ammo. He was pretty much enjoying himself, imagining demons and ghosts on the targets.

Abigail tried out the shotguns with regular ammo, to get used to the recoil and how she had to aim, before she started testing out the rocksalt and fletchette rounds.

Billy started with a lever action and regular buckshot, figuring he'd work his way up to the fancier stuff. He really wanted to try one of those dragon's breath rounds.

He was grateful for his weapons training that allowed him to handle the recoil with no problem.

Tannim tried out a double-barreled shotgun with rock salt.

It takes him a few shots to get used to the recoil of a shotgun again, since the only previous experience Bridge has had was in Hunting class in the fall, but after that he hits his target pretty consistently.

John was having a great time watching people try all the different types of guns and ammo.
