The Fifteen Labors of Fandom, Session 7, Period 1
Hercules had plans for today, oh yes he did. He also had a completely new outfit. Complete with pants! And belt pouches! He had the class assemble in a classroom, and clapped his hands together once it was time to start the session.
"One of the things about heroic deeds is that sometimes the simplest is the most important," Hercules said. "This week's task will not take place in this classroom, but out and about this weekend, as it is the glorious time of Homecoming! I want you all to do one thing this weekend for someone who could use a good deed. Perhaps you will help an old lady cross a street, or ask some shy person to dance with you at the dance, or perhaps you will save someone who is being bullied. These are all good deeds, often overlooked as unimportant, but they are far from it."
He raised a hand, a single finger outstretched and pointed at the ceiling. "But don't think you are getting out of class early, either," he said. "No, today I want a class discussion. I have been focusing on bringing out the best qualities in each of you through trials of skill, perseverance, and wit. Today I want everyone to share a labor they've endured outside of this class, and how you feel it helped shape you."
He pointed at a student at random. "You, you can start!"
[ooc:OCD comin' up! Class up and ready!]

Talk Amongst Yourselves
Re: Talk Amongst Yourselves
Okay, they were still tights, kind of, but it wasn't the Grecian skirt look. It was just sort of weird.
He was trying not to stare too much.

Hmm.
Share a 'Labor'
Re: Share a 'Labor'
"Things went... really, really messy once, in Karla's world. And I was way out of my depth. Like... a lot. There wasn't really anything I could do to help, not outnumbered by thousands like we were. But then this little girl took me by the hand, to where a bunch of kids were hiding, scared. So... So I told them stories. Kept them calm. And kind of... I don't know. I wasn't useless, for all that I couldn't help with the battle that was going on outside. I remind myself of that sometimes, when I feel like I'm in over my head."

"I had to hold up the world once," he shared, gesturing to the streak of grey in his hair. "I took it from Artemis so she could help fight someone that only she could really take on. I wanted to fight but I had to realize that I wasn't gonna win and she had the chance. So, I did what I could do and let someone else do the big stuff."

"Well," she said, in a modest tone that really wasn't, "there was this one time I traversed to the land of Tamir in search of a magic fruit that would save my dying father from a sudden illness and, while I was there, I just so happened to save the kingdom from an evil tyrant of a witch, rescue a frail fairy queen, and release an unfortunate young prince from a terrible spell. I suppose something like that can test a girl's mettle well enough, and it certainly helped shape me to appreciate the things I have, as well as know I have the confidence and ability to do what I must for the people I love and care for, as well as to do the same for people I've only just met."
