Journalism 101/201 (Wednesday, February 15 - 5th period)

Rita? Kind of hungover.

And by "kind of" we mean "incredibly."

"Cameras. On my desk. Now. Tell everyone what you photographed and why."

Yeah, kind of grumpy. Again with the special meaning of "kind of."

Anakin signed in.

Quinn signs in.

Peter signed in ~~even though his mun was supposed to be finishing stuff at work, but that'll take at least another half hour minimum anyway, so screw it, I do class!~~.

His printing was very striking today.

Rose signs in.

Read the subject line. Explains itself, yo.

Quinn raises her hand. "A dog ate my picture, can I get an extension?"

"Of course, Ms. Morgendorffer. You may have until Friday."

Quinn loves her teacher. But not loves. Because she's not into that.

Anakin was looking far happier than would be considered strictly normal for him.

"I took pictures (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/463662.html?thread=21480750#t21480750) of my friend Rory's dog Vladdie and his invisible friend Steve," he said. "Because I'd never heard of a dog having an invisible friend before and I thought it was pretty interesting." He smiled. "And Steve really does exist--he's just invisible. I don't know if he'll show up on film or not."

"The tiny flying dog?" Rita asked, actually looking interested. "He has an invisible friend?"

"He does," Anakin said. "I don't really understand how or why, but that goes for about 90 percent of what happens around here on a normal day." He shrugged. "Figured you might like learning about it."

He bit back making a remark about it taking her mind off of Wilbur because he was in a good mood.

"Her dog was in here yesterday. Rather darling little animal," Rita said, almost fondly.

Anakin smiled ~~doofily~~. "He is, isn't he? You should see him try to chase a ball made of glitter."

"Ball of glitter?" Rita asked, blinking.

Anakin nodded. "Uh huh. I can do this thing with glitter," he waved his hand vaguely in the air, "and turn it into a ball. Vladdie likes to chase it."

"He's adorable. Pity he has to be owned by such an irritating girl," Rita said, rifling through some papers.

Anakin's eyes flashed. "She's not irritating," he snapped.

This was probably not a terribly smart thing to have done.

"Yes, she really is. She feeds John Crichton," Rita said distractedly.

"And feeding Crichton is irritating?" Anakin asked, blinking. "Why?"

"When he's supposed to be punished, he does not need chocolate," Rita explained, scanning a page. "And I have no use for students who only come to class and stare off into space with an obnoxious smile all period, as she did today."

Anakin probably matched Rory for obnoxious smiles at that moment. "She did?"

He shook his head. "Crichton was punished again today?" He tried not to look too interested. "Another animal?"

"Yes, she did. Hummed, too. Annoying twit. And Mr. Crichton was a stick insect today," Rita replied, scowling.

"She's not an annoying twit," Anakin said, glaring.

He blinked a few times. "And Crichton was an insect? Interesting choice."

"You don't have to teach her," Rita pointed out. "She's pretentious, too. And yes, insect. I like insects."

"She's not pretentious, either," Anakin snapped. "You're being unnecessarily harsh."

"Am I?" Rita asked, raising an eyebrow. "You're awfully defensive of her."

Anakin's cheeks went a little red. "She's a good friend of mine. I don't like to hear people criticizing her." He looked Rita straight in the eyes. "Especially when she doesn't deserve it."

"If Ms. Gilmore has a problem, she can take it up with me. Since she hasn't, your little knight in shining armor act is well-intentioned but misguided," Rita said firmly.

"I'm not shining," Anakin said, completely missing the reference. "And I'm not a knight yet. I still have years of training to go through."

And I'm not little, he thought very, very hard. But didn't say aloud because he does, very occasionally, think before he says something.

"And next you're going to tell me you're not leaping to Rory's defense because you see her as a damsel in distress," Rita said lazily, flipping a page. "Like I said, if Ms. Gilmore wishes to address any problems she has with me, she's welcomg to. But I fail to see how it's your concern, friend or no."

"Rory's very capable of taking care of herself," Anakin replied. "But it would be irresponsible of me not to say something when someone is making comments about her that I find to be misinformed."

He shrugged a shoulder. "Or at least that's how I've been taught."

"Mr. Skywalker," Rita said, glancing up at him. "I don't change my opinions often. But you have convinced me to change one that I have held to be very firm truth."

Anakin grinned. "Glad to hear it."

"Yes, I no longer think you are a homosexual," she said with a significant look before going back to her reading.

Anakin glared at the back of Rita's head and spent the rest of the period reminding himself that killing someone with his mind was Wrong.

Peter turned in his camera.

A guy from town sang a 'love song'," Peter said with air quotes, "to a hooker over by the docks. There was a mariachi band. And our school security - the Mountie guy - sang with the mariachi band, too. It was really strange. But funny."

Rita stared at him.

"I look forward to developing the film."

"Thank you," Peter said, grinning. "I look forward to seeing how it turns out."

Rose raises her hand and says, "I wasn't here on Friday, may I have an extension?"

"Yes, you may," Rita said obligingly. "Until Friday, Ms. Tyler."

She's here for a few minutes before JI.
