OOC: ZOMG, I got dragged into an unexpected meeting that lasted from before 10 until nearly 2, and then I had to go and eat lunch and be sociable. And then do actual work. So class is up finally, however, responses will have to wait until later tonight.

"Is there a way to learn magic, or is it something you have to be born to do?" Logan asked.

"I was born into it, from a long line of witches," Kiki answers. "Where I am from, it is an inherited trait, but one that must be developed and trained through study and practice."

Piper nods at Kiki. "It's an inherited trait from where I'm from as well. I didn't know it until a few months ago, though, so I still need more practice."

"So how'd that work?" asked Jenny. "Most witches that I know of who were born witches, well, they knew about it all growing up."

"My grandmother wanted to protect me and my sisters so she kind of bound our powers," Piper explained.

I was taught a... 'form' of magic by a Guardian who looks rather like a flying teddy bear," Sakura says with a light grin. "So I suppose it depends on where you come from." She shrugs.

"Flying teddy bear, huh?" asked Jenny. "Your place and my place are way different."

"Everyone's got a good answer," said Jenny. "And it's all qualified for 'where I come from.' You don't have to have it inborn where I come from. Anyone can learn it."

Xander shot him a rueful glance. "Remember that whole thing last class with the guy named Alex? I'm just sayin'."

Jenny looked really embarrassed.

"Is there a magical means to get rid of an ability that you were not born with but acquired?"

"Maybe," said Jenny. "If you can determine how the ability was acquired, there might be a way to reverse it."

Maia nodded thoughtfully at Jenny's words. "Is there a way...magically to find out how it was acquired even if the ability itself is not magical? Like a past spell to show what all happened or how it happened maybe?" She had tried the scientific approach to no avail, maybe magic could somehow give her the total answer instead of just the memories of what happened. Maybe the magic could actually tell her how they did it.

"There might be spells that could be worked up to help out with that," said Jenny. "It'd take some researching. A whole lot of it. Sounds like you had something happen to you and you're not clear on what."

Maia nodded slowly at her. "I know the end results of what they did, I just want to know how they did it...I want to understand it..." Maia worried she was making no sense. "I need to know." She said finally. "For me."

"That might be something to talk about a bit more privately from the sounds of it," said Jenny. "If you want to stop by during office hours or something, Maia, I'll be around."
