Studio Art | February 14th - Period 7

There are handouts on proportion up the front of the class.

"Okay, I've been informed that it's some sort of love festival today, and I'm sure you're all eager to either go and be with your significant other, or to go be bitter about not having one. So your assignment today is to find a painting which uses proportion to make some sort of impact and to discuss it with your classmates."

"This painting by Magritte (http://www.abcgallery.com/M/magritte/magritte1.html) takes advantage of the expected principles of proporiton to make an impact. For example, the hand is bigger than the people, and the statue with eyes is the biggest of all."

"In this one I'm not paying attention to the monk guy, I'm paying attention to the guy behind him who looks bigger and has a sword. Seriously, wtf."

"This one, the face is all out of proportion. The nose and the eyes are too big and the mouth is too small. It almost doesn't look like a face at all."
