It was Goose’s last class as a teacher and he felt rather weird about that, that he was getting so very close to leaving Fandom.

After the last week, Goose was also more prepared somewhat with his final class.

“Good afternoon,” he began the class, “I thought for our last class this semester that we would do some drawing for the first half of the class and then we’ll work on building the machines that you end up drawing,”

Goose had definitely forgotten about class this week in the wake of his 21st birthday celebrations so he decided that they were going to have a movie day today.

“We’re going to watch a movie today,” he said about sheepishly as he started the class, “it’s about an astronaut who gets stranded on mars and he has to find a way to survive,”

He was pretty sure he had shown this movie before in one of his classes but he figured it wouldn’t hurt to show it again.

“Good afternoon,” he said when it time for class to begin, “this week I thought we’d look at doing more machine drawing and that’d we’d also have a go at building what we draw,”

“So this lesson is going to focus on two components and the first one is that you will work on drawing a wind powered car and then you will spend the rest of the class building it,”

“Good afternoon,” Goose began that week’s class, trying not to think of just how few weeks he had left teaching before he left at the end of the semester, “this week we’re going to be taking a look at fluid mechanics which is the response of fluids to forces exerted on them” he explained, “for our class activity in particular, we going to be experimenting with paper planes to test this theory and we'll be recording our results over a series of tests to see how far our planes can go,” he explained.

“Sorry about last week,” Goose began that week’s class, “I was called back home unexpectedly but for today’s class I thought we would look at
wedges, which we did cover briefly when we looked at the six simple machines but wedges are still quite useful to learn about in relation to engineering and a wedge is a simple machine that is used to separate two objects through an application of force,” Goose explained, “examples of wedges include knives, axes, forks and nails,”

“For today’s practical we’re going to be using different wedges to cut different materials,”

Goose had actually remembered his class that week and had been organised enough for the topic that they were going to be covering.

“Good afternoon,” he began, “for today’s class we’re going to be working on a Mechanical Pick and Place Mechanism, earlier in the semester we looked at pulleys and this is compliments this component of mechanical engineering quite nicely” he explained.

“So I’d like you to spend the lesson working on mechanical pick and place machines, paying particular note to how it relates to the pulley mechanism,”

“Welcome back,” Goose had nearly forgotten that he had class after the last couple of weeks but he was back for that week’s class and he was even had a lesson plan prepared, “I thought this week that we would start to take a look at machine drawing and then you can start using the techniques to do your own drawings,” he explained. “In particular I would like you to draw designs for making a Rube Goldberg machine,”

“Then for the rest of the lesson, we’ll be looking at building your designs for the Rube Goldberg machine,”

“Good afternoon,” Goose began that week’s class, “I thought for today’s lesson we could have a look at this week we’re going to take a look at strength of materials, which looks at how well a material is able to withstand an applied load without being damaged,” he explained.

“A good way to experiment with this is through making rubber band helicopters and that’s what we’ll be doing for our practical today,”

“Sorry about last week,” Goose began that week’s class, “I got called away unexpectedly on a mission but for this week, we’re going to take a look at the use of springs and the strength of springs using the application of Hooke’s Law,” he explained, “this determines whether or not that a spring can be an acceptable use of weighing an object,”

“For our experiment today we are going to be making a Spring Scale,”

Alara found herself standing in front of a classroom for the second time to teach an energineering class, “so Mr. Gooseman asked me to cover his class because he got called away on a mission,” she began, “this week we’re going to be covering Lock picking,”

She was at least familiar with this topic by now and was pretty confident in her lock picking skills now, “he wants us to practice taking apart a lock pick and put it back together again,” she explained.

“Good afternoon,” Goose nodded when he began that week’s lecture, “I thought this week we would try doing the egg drop the egg drop challenge and we’re going to be spending the lesson working on making containers for the eggs so we don’t break them,” he explained.

This time Goose had actually gotten hard boiled eggs so the experiment shouldn’t be as messy, hopefully.

“Good afternoon,” Goose nodded once it was time to begin the class, “this week we’re going to cover the six simple machines used in engineering - these are the wedge, wheel and axel, lever, inclined plane and pulley,”

“The wedge can be used to separate two portions of an object and examples of these included a shovel, a knife or an axe,” he continued, “the wheel and axel is a type of machine that operates by using mechanical advantage to make tasks easier, examples of the wheel and axel include the bicycle, a windmill and an analog clock,”

“The lever is a rigid body that is capable of rotating on a point on intensely and examples of this include a seesaw, pliers and a hammer,” he went on, “the inclined plane consists of a sloping surface and is used for raising heavy bodies such as a staircase or a sloping ramp, the screw is an inclined plane around a cylinder and finally the pulley is a wheel that is carried by a flexible rope,” he concluded.

“This week we’re going to be experimenting with pulleys,” Goose told them, “and we’ll have a look at building our own pulley,”

It had taken a while for Goose to remember that he had classes on Fridays this semester but he figured he’d keep this week for introductions so he wasn’t too worried about his class this week.

“Good afternoon,” he said when it was time for class to begin, “my name is Shane Gooseman, I’m from West Australia in 2108 and I’m with the Series 5 Galaxy Rangers where I do a lot of machine repairs,” that he was responsible for why they needed fixing in the first place but he wasn’t sharing that.

“We’ll be starting things off simple this week with introductions and then for next week, we’ll begin our first practical,” he explained. “So I’d like your name and what experiences you have with engineering,”

So far Goose hadn’t noticed that there was anything unusual happening in Fandom today and had decided that it would be easier to have a movie day, “so I thought we have a movie day today,” he began that class, “we’re going to watch a movie about explorers who travel through wormholes to find another suitable planet when the Earth becomes uninhabitable,”

Then he went to turn on the TV and only a Yule log was playing, “oh …” he blinked, “I guess we’re not watching a movie today,” he looked around the room as he tried to think of something else that they could do and realised there were sheets of plain paper there, “erm … we can make paper planes and see how far we can throw them,”

“Welcome back,” Goose said when he started class that week, “sorry about last week’s class, I got called away unexpectedly," he added, "I thought that since we’ve covered the six simple machines we’d start looking at other aspects of mechanical engineering and I thought we’d take a look at lock picking today,”

Goose had also not prepared anything for this week’s class so he had once again gone through his old class notes until he had come across this one he’d done over the summer.

“So for today’s class we’re going to have a look at the mechanics inside of a padlock and take it apart and put it back together again,” he explained.

Unlike the last couple of weeks Goose was actually in front of the classroom today, “good morning, sorry about the last couple of weeks,” he said, “I thought we’d continue with covering simple machines and move on to what will be our last simple machine that we need to cover and that is the screw,”

“The screw is actually similar to an inclined plane but it has a cylinder around it,” he explained, “and they can be used in a number of ways, such as holding things together or being used to lift heavy items,”

“For our practical today, we’re going to be looking at making an archimedes screw,”

It had certainly been a while since Ignis had stepped into a classroom, but he had realized that, with Shane currently a goose at the moment, his students would possibly be without a class this week, and, obviously, something like that simply could not stand.

Granted, Ignis was a bit limited on what he could offer. If he'd had more time to prepare, he was certain he could have come up with something good, but, as it stood, he'd have to make do with something a bit more off the cuff.

With Shane to guide him in the right direction, he made it to the classroom with time to spare, and, when it was time to begin class, he stood and greeted the class with a nod. "Good morning," he said. "You may not know me," he certainly couldn't couldn't discredit the possibility that some of his own former students were in this class, but, of course, at the moment, he had no way of knowing, "but my name is Ignis Scientia, and your usual instructor, Mr. Gooseman, is currently...well..." He gestured toward the bird in question, "a goose. As such, I will temporarily be leading your class today. Since this is hardly my field of expertise, however," and he'd barely had any time to prepare! He might have called in Prompto to handle it, if that were the case, really, and perhaps he should have, but Prompto seemed to be dealing with a lot already as it was right now, "we will be taking a little field trip down to the library. Use this time wisely to find a topic of engineering that interests you and start piecing together a presenation on that topic for the end of class. It doesn't have to be anything to elaborate or in depth, just a nice overview of what you were able to find of interest and a cohesive summary to give to the rest of the class of what you've discovered.

"Any questions before we head out? If not, I'll allow Mr. Gooseman to lead the way, and we'll get started."

At first when Goose had woken up this morning, he had been a little concerned when his black vest seemed to be covered in blood, he had thought he had been injured and his healing factor hadn’t kicked in but on closer inspection it seemed to be ketchup.

Which he still didn’t know how he had managed to get that on there either.

So he was now standing in front of the class, with ketchup stained clothes that didn’t seem to come out and because he was wearing all black, it made it all the more obvious.

“Good morning,” he began, “this week we’re going to continue on with our next simple machine and that is the the inclined plane,”

“The inclined plane is a sloped surface that is used for raising heavy bodies,” he explained, “and that it is a higher elevation attached to a lower elevation, examples of an inclined plane include a ramp, stairs and slides,” he paused

“For our practical today we’re going to be looking at experimenting with a marble and see how much distance the marble travels in equal time intervals,”

“Good morning,” Goose began when he started that week’s class, “this week we’re going to be continuing with talking about simple machines and we’ve already covered the lever, the wheel and axel and the pulley and now we’re going to move on to the wedge and we’ve already covered the lever, the wheel and axel and the pulley and now we’re going to move on to the wedge,”

Much like last week Goose had been extremely distracted on the weekend and had not done any kind of lesson planning at all, which was not really a surprise to anyone really and so he had resorted to going over his old notes again and found one that he had done a couple of times before.

“So this week we’re going to be looking at Hooke’s Law and how that relates to mechanical engineering,” Goose explained, “in particular it is the theory of the strength of the spring and we’re going to look at whether or not a spring can be accurate for weighing objects,” he paused, “to test that theory today we’re going to be looking at making a Spring Scale,”

[personal profile] notagoose
“So I don’t have anything new actually planned for this week,” Goose admitted, since he had been distracted by both Walsh’s visit and not hearing anything definitive on how Ignis was and he was more worried than he wanted to admit.

He had decided to go through his old lesson plans and had found one from the last session that he thought would be an easy one to do again.

“Instead of continuing with simple machines this week, we’re going to be covering an activity I did for class class last semester, so we’re going doing the egg drop challenge and we’re going to be spending the lesson working on making containers for the eggs so we don’t break them,” he explained.

He had still not factored that he should have used hard boiled eggs so hopefully everyone’s challenges were successful otherwise it was going to end up rather messy.

“Good morning,” Goose began that week’s class, “so we’ve covered the pulley and the wheel and axel, this week our class is going to focus on the lever as our next simple machine,”

“The lever is a simple machine where a bar rotates around a fixed point fulcrum,” he explained, “a fulcrum is best described as the support for a bar,”

“There are three different types of levers,” he continued, “first, second and third class levers and the way that each one is classified is that they each have a different applied point - the effort, the load and the function,”

“Some examples of different levers are - pliers and scissors for first class levers, and going back to our lecture last week a wheelbarrow is also an example of a second class lever,” he added, “finally examples of a third class lever are barbecue tongues, a broom and a fishing rod,”

“For our practical today, we’re going to be looking at making levers,”

“Good morning,” Goose began, “this week we’re going to be looking at our next simple machine for this class and we’re going to have a look at the wheel and axel,”

“The wheel and axel is a component for a simple machine that amplifies force and is designed to create a mechanical advantage,” he explained, “and it is believed that the first wheel was a potter’s wheel and that it was first invented in Ancient Greece around 3500 BC in Mesopotamia,”

“Mechanical Advantage,” he continued, “is the measure in which a machine multiples the force put into it,” and it was here that Goose did hand out some notes to go into more depth on mechanical advantage.

“For our practical this week we’re going to be making a cardboard rubber band car,”

“Welcome back,” Goose said, he had been a bit a distracted after his conversation with Walsh on Sunday but this time he had least used that distraction to draw up a proper lesson plan to work on for his next class.

“For the next few weeks we're going to be looking at machines,” Goose explained, “a simple machine is a machine that can change the direction or magnitude of a force,” he started to go into a bit in depth as he talked about simple machines.

“There are six simple machines,” he continued, “the wheel and axle, the level, the inclined plane, the pulley, the screw, wedge and lever, this week we are going to be looking at pulleys,”

“For our practical assignment today I thought we would have a go at making a pulley,” Goose nodded as he handed out the instructions and indicated the range of materials they had to work on.

Goose had not prepared an actual first class since he had unexpectedly left to help fight in a resistance in another Galaxy and had gotten back late last night.

“Good morning,” he said softly, “we’re going to keep it rather simple this week and keep it to introductions,” he realised belatedly he only knew one of the students in his class this semester.

“I’m Shane Gooseman, I’m from West Australia in 2107 and I serve with the Series 5 Galaxy Rangers team where I do a lot of the mechanical maintenance,”

Where he was responsible for why said mechanical maintenance was needed but he wasn’t going to mention that.

“So I’d like to know your name, class, year you’re from and previous experience with engineering,” Goose said before nodding to the first student to begin with.

It was the last week of class and to the surprise of no one, Goose was not really prepared for the class at all.

He had considered a movie day but then he’d gone over his notes from previous classes and decided that finishing on machine drawing wasn’t that bad of an option so he decided to go with that for his class.

“Welcome back,” he said softly and then he looked rather sheepish, “so I don’t actually have anything prepared for your final lesson,” he admitted, “I thought we could take the time and go over machine drawing and then you can start using the techniques to do your own drawings,” he explained.

Goose wasn't feeling as bad as he been the last week and had actually made an effort to come up with a proper lesson plan.

He had even come up with a new topic to cover, which was something a bit different.

“Welcome back,” he said softly, “we're going to be doing something a bit different this week and we’re going to be covering lock picking and have a look at the mechanics inside a padlock before putting it back together again,” he explained.

Goose had been spending most of the week being rather sad and distracted and feeling generally awful from the weekend and in the process he had completely forgotten about his class on Thursday until this morning, he had very briefly decided to do a movie day but then he had found a class that he had used from the last session and decided to use it again.

Admittedly he had used it a couple of times now for his classes but it was at least an easy enough class for him to get together on such short notice for times when he forgot about his class.

Which also tended to happen a lot.

“Welcome back,” he said softly, “this week we’re going to take a look at strength of materials, which is a topic that has been covered before but a good way to test that theory is by making rubber band helicopters ,”

This week’s practical wasn’t even one that he had been planning but this was something that had caught his eye as something to try and it was quite possibly not the most practical of assignments to attempt to do but Goose was very interested in seeing how this challenge unfolded in class.

He also had not thought to bring hard boiled eggs in for the experiment to make it less messy but Goose barely thought things through at the best of times so it wasn’t really that much of a surprise that he had just brought in normal eggs to try instead.

“So this week we’re going to try something a bit different and experiment with eggs, and we’re going to be doing an activity called the egg drop challenge,” he explained as he motioned to the different options that were available to run the experiment, “what you need to do is design a craft that will protect the egg and then drop it from a distance,”

Goose really hadn’t this lesson through.

This week Goose had been a lot more prepared for classes and had actually written a lot more detailed lesson plan than before and had also spent more time making sure he had all the necessary components needed for the tutorial as well.

“So this week we’re going to be looking at making a Paper Shredder Machine,” he explained once class was ready to go that afternoon, “which is I find to be good example of electromechanical, engineering,” he added as he started to give a brief overview of what electromechanical engineering was before he turned the focus on the rest of the class on making the paper shredders.

In the space of a week Goose had completely forgotten about his class being on Thursday afternoon’s and remembered that morning he did in fact have class, so he quickly looked through his old notes and found a topic that he had done during the spring for his intro to mechanical engineering class and decided that he could work with that.

“Welcome back,” he said a little sheepishly as he showed up minutes before class started, luckily the practical he was going to have didn’t require a lot materials at all.

“This week we’re going to be experimenting with paper planes,” he announced, which he had done this class a few times but it was at least an easy way to demonstrate fluid mechanics.

It took Goose a while to remember that he had a class later in the day this session but he did in fact remember when his class was and turned up on time.

“Welcome to A Guide to Mechanical Engineering,” Goose nodded to the class, “I thought for our first class we would start with introductions and then for our first practical we will work on making a Coil Winding Machine, to start getting a feel for machines and it’s a good introduction to automation,” Goose explained.

“So I’m Shane Gooseman, most people call me Goose,” he said, “however it is fine if you would rather call me Shane or Mr. Gooseman instead,” he paused, “I’m from West Australia, 2107 and I serve with the Series 5 Galaxy Rangers where I do a lot of engineering work for the team,”

Mostly because he had damaged the machines in the first place and that’s why they needed fixing but he wasn’t going to mention that fact.

There wasn’t a 7 foot tall blond Supertrooper standing in front of the class today, instead Alara found herself standing in front of the classroom after she had received an email from the teacher asking if she could run the final session today.

She had no idea what she was actually doing, Goose had given her an outline of what the class was going to involve and she had done her best to follow it

“So … um … hi?” Alara tried when it was time for class to begin, “so Mr. Gooseman couldn’t make it to class this week, he got called away on a last minute assignment and he asked me to cover it today,”

No she had no idea why when there were so many other more qualified people who could teach this class.

“So for the final class his instructions were for you to design and build a wind powered car,” Alara explained as she referred to the brief notes and instructions that Mr. Gooseman had left her

Yes it was the exact same class that Goose had used for last semester but his current assignment involved providing security detail for senators at a political conference so he was too distracted to think of something new for his final class that session.

Goose had ended up handwavily spending the weekend back home and had asked Niko to have a look at his communicator and see if she could get any kind of reading on it that would give some indication on the progress that they were making or if she could reestablish a connection but even her abilities weren’t able to get that link up and running again and now Goose was running out of ideas that he could try.

He had managed to get a few more communicators for Summer though, so the trip home wasn’t a complete bust.

“Good morning,” Goose began, “I thought we could start expanding and combining the topics that we've been working on for the last few weeks by beginning to work on a Mechanical Pick and Place Mechanism, and we can look at a more detailed way for the mechanical design process of such a machine,” he explained. "in particular, this is also a good introduction to the pulley system as well, which is a prominent component of mechanical engineering,"

Goose had finally slept and was a bit more alert than last week, even if he was still a bit distracted since he hadn’t had any additional luck with getting through to Ignis but he had been successful in talking to Captain Foxx in getting more communicators so that they could get them to Summer so that was at least something

“Good morning,” he said, “so last week we covered strength of materials, I thought a way to expand on that would be to look at the theory of Hooke’s Law and see if we can look at at a spring and see how accurate it can be for weighing objects,” he explained, “so for this week’s activity we’re going to be looking at making a Spring Scale and seeing what we can discover,”

Goose was a bit more distracted than normal when he got have to his class that morning, he kept looking at his communicator, hoping that he would hear from Ignis or Prompto, some kind of indication that there was still a line of communication open.

He had decided to revisit a topic that he covered in class last semester, since he had spent the last few days trying to get in contact with Ignis and not been able to do so.

“Good morning,” he began, finally stopping looking at his communicator for a few minutes so that he could begin the lesson, “this week we’re going to look at strength of materials,” and he began to offer a brief overview on where it related to mechanical engineering.

“For this week’s practical, we’re going to rubber band helicopters and see how far we’re able to propel them and how well the material will hold,”

“Good morning,” Goose said as he started that week’s class, “since we looked at machine drawing last week, this week’s project is going to expand on that and we’re going to look at making a Rube Goldberg machine,” he explained and he began to cover what was involved in such a project and a bit of a history behind it.

“This project requires two steps so the first one is to design your Rube Goldberg machine and then we’ll build it,” he explained, “this project looks at the fundamentals of simple machines and it’s a good introduction to how they work and it’s a way make the process rather complicated so it can be any kind of project that you’d like to make,”

“Good morning,” Goose said when it was time for class to start, “this week we’re going to start looking at the practical component of this class and I thought to get a good feel for mechanical engineering and the process of building mechanical projects, we’d start by looking at machine drawing,”

“So we’ll start this week by getting a feel for the techniques used” and what’s involved before we move on to the building process,”

“Good morning,” Goose said when class was ready to begin, he had not slept at all last night but he was used to going days without sleep so he’d already had a few cups of coffee and so he was at least alert and functioning for his class.

“I thought we’d start this week’s class with the introductions and then next week we can start focusing on mechanical engineering projects,” he explained.

“So I’m Shane Gooseman, most people call me Goose but I don’t mind if you’d rather call me Shane instead,” he said, “I’m from West Australia, 2107 and I’m based with the Series 5 Galaxy Rangers team where I do a lot of mechanical work for the team, mostly fixing the ships that my team uses,” that he was responsible for why they needed to be repaired but he wasn’t going to mention that right now. “So I’d like to know your name, the year that you’re from and if you have any experience with either mechanical engineering or engineering in general or if you don't what you'd like to learn in this class,” he said.

It was the final class and while Goose did actually have a lesson planned for the last class, it still felt weird that he’d had two semesters of teaching now and that he’d been able to have a final class both times.

“Good morning,” he said when it time for class to begin, “so this is your final class for the semester and I thought since we started machine drawing last week, I thought that’s what we’d finish with and it’s what we’ll work on for our final practical,” he explained.

“So this lesson is going to focus on two components and the first one is that you will work on building a wind powered car but you will also be doing a machine based drawing on it as well based on the lecture from last week,”

The last two weeks had been rather distracting and Goose was still rather distracted, even though talking to both Summer and Ignis about the whole Walsh situation had helped him and had stopped him from going straight back home and confronting him about it. Now he just had to focus on not thinking so much about his upcoming birthday party, it still felt weird to think that his birthday was actually going to be celebrated. It was also weird to think that he had now turned 20 and had in fact managed to make it this far.

“Good morning,” Goose said once class was ready to begin, “so this week we’re going to talk about and start looking at drawing plans for machine drawing,”

Once he had a covered the general overview of machine drawing, he began to outline how the drawings could be read and the steps needed to begin to make design plans.

“So for today’s activity I thought we’d begin practicing having a go at trying out at the methods used in machine drawing, we won’t be making plans for machine designs this lesson but we can get a feel for the process and techniques involved,” he explained.

After the news that Goose had gotten over the weekend about Walsh, he hadn’t been able to focus on anything let alone a lesson plan and so he decided to have another movie day and hopefully figure out how to act on the information that he had gotten about both Walsh and Max.

He also hadn’t been sleeping properly either since Monday, so the fact that he had even managed to get to class at all this week was probably an achievement in itself.

“So I know we had a movie day last week,” he said rather apologetically, “but well with the past weekend, I thought we’d try something similar this week but we’re going to be watching a documentary on Apollo 11 and we’ll return to our normal lessons next week,”

At least that was what he was hoping anyway.

Goose had forgotten what this week had been like and as soon as he started to realise what was going on, he decided to handwavily return home for a few days and made it back just in time for his class. He had been tempted to just stay at home for the week but knew that he should at least attempt to have his class, even if all he was planning for the lesson was to have a movie day.

“So we’re going to have a movie day today,” he announced, “we’re going to be watching a movie about a medical engineer who gets stranded in space and has to make it back to Earth,”

He wasn’t sure if this was going to help with the students focusing but it was better than him to trying to give a lecture on mechanical engineering right now.

“Good morning,” Goose began the session when everyone was seated, “for today’s class we’re going to look at Thermodynamics and how it relates to mechanical engineering,”

He began to start going through what Thermodynamics was and then a more detailed version of the different laws of Thermodynamics.

“For this week’s practical, I thought we’d look at making a steam powered rocket boat,” apparently there was a bit of a theme going on with these last few weeks, “and we’ll see how far we can get them to travel,”

“Good morning,” Goose began when everyone was seated and ready to begin that day’s class, “today we’re going to be looking at strength of materials, which lets us look at how how materials respond to dealing with particular loads,” he explained, going through a few different examples and how they specifically related to mechanical engineering.

“For today’s practical, we’re going to be working on rubber band helicopters to highlight the stress of the materials and see how far we can propel the helicopters,”

Goose had definitely been taking advantage of the coffee being back the last few days and was quite caffeinated and slightly more energetic than he usually was. He had been careful to not go overboard with drinking too much caffeine but he had definitely had more than he probably should have at this point in the morning.

“Good morning,” he said when everyone had turned up and class was ready to begin, “for today’s class we’re going to be focusing on fluid mechanics and hydraulics and how they relate to mechanical engineering,” he explained and he began to start going into what fluid mechanics involved and what the connections to mechanical engineering were.

“For today’s practical,” he continued once he had finished the lecture component of the class, “we’re going to work an an experiment that we covered last semester and that is we’re going to make paper planes and this will also let us test how fluid mechanics work in relation to the thrust and velocity of the paper planes,”

“Good morning, welcome back” Goose nodded once everyone had arrived for that morning's class, unlike the last class before spring break he had actually prepared a lesson this week.

He had not yet noticed that there was no caffeine or alcohol on the island, or he might not be thinking it was a good morning right now.

“We’re going to be continuing looking at mechanical design and in particular, we’re going to look at what you need to factor in when making your own designs,” he explained before he started to go through the different factors that were involved and what was needed to begin working on mechanical design.

“For our practical today we’re going to expand on our pulley assignment that we did a few weeks ago and look at making a portable hammering machine since this project can show just how a pulley does connect to everything and make it work,”

So the last several days had ended up being rather busy for Goose and in that time he hadn’t thought to get a head start on planning for this week’s lesson and by the time it came round for class, he ended up not having anything prepared.

“Good morning,” Goose nodded, “so I know we were supposed to be continuing to talk about mechanical design but I … well don’t have anything prepared for this week…” he said a bit sheepishly, “so we’re going to be having a movie day instead - this one is based on a true story of how NASA got the first man on the moon,”

Goose had even seen this movie as well - courtesy of some of the movie nights that he’d been had for team bonding night.

“Good morning,” Goose nodded when everyone had turned up and he started that week's lecture, “this week we will begin looking at mechanical design in engineering, which will be our next topic for the next couple of weeks,”

He then started to cover the basic functions of mechanical design and the different types of design there were overall before he finally explained what the process involved in establishing and working through a mechanical design.

“For today’s project, we’re going to look into creating a air purifier and humidifier using the mechanical design process, there is a tutorial that you can follow and moddable options available to work on your projects,”

Goose was not as distracted as he had been in class last week, even though that was really only because his next … well … his dinner date was tomorrow and he still wasn’t entirely sure what he was supposed to bring over.

“Good morning,” he said when everyone was there, “this week we’re going to explore the different disciplines of mechanical engineering and how they relate to mechanical engineering,”

He began to go into detail about the different disciplines, again it was a very similar lecture to last semester but he felt the lectures were a pretty good overall beginning to mechanical engineering before he began to cover other aspects of the course.

“Similar to another topic that was covered last semester, we’re also going to be working on a pulley for today’s practical since this is another good introduction to mechanical engineering overall and how everything is connected and works,”
