Intro to Mechanical Engineering - Wednesday, 1st Period

Goose had definitely been taking advantage of the coffee being back the last few days and was quite caffeinated and slightly more energetic than he usually was. He had been careful to not go overboard with drinking too much caffeine but he had definitely had more than he probably should have at this point in the morning.

“Good morning,” he said when everyone had turned up and class was ready to begin, “for today’s class we’re going to be focusing on fluid mechanics and hydraulics and how they relate to mechanical engineering,” he explained and he began to start going into what fluid mechanics involved and what the connections to mechanical engineering were.

“For today’s practical,” he continued once he had finished the lecture component of the class, “we’re going to work an an experiment that we covered last semester and that is we’re going to make paper planes and this will also let us test how fluid mechanics work in relation to the thrust and velocity of the paper planes,”

Jo remembered this activity from last semester so she felt at least somewhat comfortable as she made her paper plane and she was able to throw it a reasonable distance. She felt it at least went better than her attempt last time.

Try as she might, Sakaki just couldn't get any of her folds or angles to really work. All of her planes seemed to be all wrong, awkward, uneven, and immediately crashed whenever she tested them. The spirit and the effort were clearly there, but not the talent, apparently, and she was really trying nog to get disheartened by it.
