Half an hour before first period, the PA system switches on with that creepy hum-pop effect.

"Good morning and welcome back to classes, students. I trust you all enjoyed your Spring Break, particularly those of you who were away for all or part of the break."

There isn't a definite hint of resentment in that statement. None at all. You're imagining things.

"Please be advised that the hallway around the corner from the history classroom has taken it upon itself to recreate Old Faithful in pink antibacterial foam soap. We have determined it to be completely harmless; however, any students averse to unanticipated bouts of hygiene are advised to find an alternate route.

Thank you, and enjoy your first day back in class."

Mac is sitting on the edge of his desk with a small grin on his face. "Since you guys should all be refreshed from your week off of classes, today I thought I'd give you the biggest challenge ever. Today you will build... a spice rack. When using the tools Ms. Gilmore-Danes made for us, please make sure you take the hat off the hammer first. It's only there to keep it warm. Apparently."

Creature Languages, 3/13, Period 2

The DVD player has been set up at the front of the room, and a stack of handouts sits on the table up front, along with coffee, juice and breakfast pastries.

"Hello. I hope you all had pleasant breaks.

We will concentrate on non-mammalian languages for this half of the semester, beginning with birds. There is a documentary in the DVD player; we are watching the episode, "Signals and Songs".

In addition, study the handout about the raven. It will help prepare you for our lecturer on Thursday."

Sociology of Violence

Grissom hands out the midterm. It has two sections, multiple choice, and an essay portion.

The essay question reads as follows: Now that you've had the chance to speak to Mr. Fraser, the school's head of security, and using what you have learned in this class, what recommendations would you make to him when it comes to this school's safety? Please provide at least one method of security in your answer, whether is be a rule or restriction, a defense mechanism, etc. and justify your reponse.

Fortunately for you, I'm back, and thanks to my little spring break adventure, I've acquired a particularily expensive piece of equipment that normal high schools don't typically have. It pays to have former evil masterminds who are also ridiculously rich as friends. So today- I hope you all remember those fossils you dug out a few weeks ago? Today, we're going to take samples and prepare them for analysis."

Camulus is looking well-rested and very gloaty that people had to be in class this early on a Monday the first day back from break.

"Ah, my dear class. I hope Phoebe took good care of you during my absence. I will offer you an explanation as soon as I have one." He stood up and paced to the board, writing 'Kings Cycle' on the board. "Wednesday we will begin our look at the next cycle of Irish literature, the Kings Cycle. These stories deal with the historical rulers of Ireland - with a definitely helping of myth piled a top." He began writing a list of names and dates on the board, starting at Art mac Cuinn because omgsomanynames and ending with Muircheartach mac Erca which is the best name to say aloud."

When this was finished, he sat back down. "And that is all the real work you have to do today. For the rest of the class . . ." He smirked. "Tell me a story. It could be something you did over break. It could be something you did as a child. It could be one of the stories we told in class. Just tell me a story in true Celtic fashion."
