[Tactics of War] Monday 6-8 PM
Eighth purses her lips and glares at her students as they file in.
“I hope you are all well and had a pleasant spring break. I apologizing for missing class two weeks previous but I see you survived my absence.Pity.
Now, please pull out your notebooks and pay sharp attention and take good notes.”
She lectures on the English Civil War (called the Anarchy) between King Stephen and the Empress Maud which occurred around 1135 to 1154 A.D. It should easily be obvious who Eighth supports as the rightful ruler of England, especially considering her marriage choices and ability to form worthy allegiances with the right men.
She also tells the story of how Maud escapes from a besieged castle – once cloaked in white and lowered from a snowy tower wall and thus camouflaged and once carried out as a ‘corpse’ and easily whisked away to safety once passed the guards.
“Now, for your in class assignment – and do turn it in before leaving - I want for you to write three discussion points for next week’s class concerning the difficulties and challenges women leaders have in wartime. If, for example, you come from the background of Miss Sun where gender is irrelevant, please discuss examples from cultures that are not as enlightened as hers.
Also, I would appreciate it, Miss Carter, if you remained after class for a moment, thank you.”
[[ooc: *sniff* This is RC’s last class teaching at FH. Much love, kisses and happy mind probing to you all.]]

If one didn't know better, you'd think he'd was watching Eighth throughout the entire class to make sure she didn't try anything.
[ooc:Just establishing Mac being there. He won't attempt interaction until after class]

However, at actually being called on her background, that's when Aeryn gives a sharp-edged little smile and walks out of class without a word.
Talk during class!

Discussion points on..
Re: Discussion points on..
especially after making comments about the placement of reproductive organs.2. Finding new and varied ways to hurt men after they make one too many incredibly lame PMS jokes
or make fun of your best friend for stupid powder-blue Mongolian-derived dresses they were forced to wear.3. Being accused of being soft of less good at your job because of
some pesky, sadly unconsummated USTyour gender.Re: Discussion points on..
2. Still not allowed to serve in active combat positions, despite dying in support roles that take place in combat zones.
3. Persistent use of 'girl', 'woman' or 'lady' as an insult, in order to motivate soldiers to be tougher, harder, stronger. Ridiculous, when I can beat up most of the guys in the junior and senior classes who don't have super-normal abilities and maintain a decent manicure at the same time.
Re: Discussion points on..
2. They're never truly one of the guys--it changes the team dynamic, since most male soldiers are protectors by nature, it makes the female member(s) a weak spot.
3. If a woman succeeds, it's assumed she slept her way to the top
even if she almost kills herself trying to remain professional.4. It's believed that a woman can't make the "tough" decisions, so they're very seldom put in charge of tactical or dangerous operations.
Re: Discussion points on..
JUST BECAUSE YOU THINK I LOOK LIKE YOU COULD BREAK ME IN HALF DOES NOT MEAN YOU ACTUALLY COULD!More challenges to your authority than your male counterparts.2.
I DID NOT SLEEP MY WAY TO COMMAND ZOMG!Lack of respect from your male counterparts.3.
LET'S SEE YOU DEAL WITH MONTLY CRAMPS AND STILL LEAD AN ARMY BUDDY.Condescendion about your physical abilities.Re: Discussion points on..
2. Attempts at "chivalry" from males, both enlisted and officers. Like trying to get them out of battle 'cause it'd be the right thing to do.
3. Unwanted sexual advances.
*coughs* Not like I'd ever do anything like that. No. Never. Totally wouldn't. And didn't. In my defense, I really did love her! And she loved me! Swear to God!Re: Discussion points on..
2. Any women in high power is seen as a pretty little face without any brains behind it and is typically ignored.
3. Women are seen as physically weaker and are left behind during war time.
After Class
Re: After Class
You know, because she was
paranoidslightly cautious about things like letting her best friend have a conversation alone with her evil robot duplicate.OOC: I hope this isn't going to be a problem? If it is, I'll delete it.
