[Tactics of War] Monday 6-8 PM

Eighth purses her lips and glares at her students as they file in.

“I hope you are all well and had a pleasant spring break. I apologizing for missing class two weeks previous but I see you survived my absence. ~~Pity~~.

Now, please pull out your notebooks and pay sharp attention and take good notes.”

She lectures on the English Civil War (called the Anarchy) between King Stephen and the Empress Maud which occurred around 1135 to 1154 A.D. It should easily be obvious who Eighth supports as the rightful ruler of England, especially considering her marriage choices and ability to form worthy allegiances with the right men.

She also tells the story of how Maud escapes from a besieged castle – once cloaked in white and lowered from a snowy tower wall and thus camouflaged and once carried out as a ‘corpse’ and easily whisked away to safety once passed the guards.

“Now, for your in class assignment – and do turn it in before leaving - I want for you to write three discussion points for next week’s class concerning the difficulties and challenges women leaders have in wartime. If, for example, you come from the background of Miss Sun where gender is irrelevant, please discuss examples from cultures that are not as enlightened as hers.

Also, I would appreciate it, Miss Carter, if you remained after class for a moment, thank you.”

Janet was hanging around after class--out of earshot, but keeping Eighth and Sam clearly in view.

You know, because she was ~~paranoid~~ slightly cautious about things like letting her best friend have a conversation alone with her evil robot duplicate.

Mac was still there after class was over.

Watching Eighth like a hawk.

Janet was totally not thinking that the Shop teacher was looking even more like General O'Neill than usual today.

Sam folded her arms across her chest and glared as she waited for everyone else to file out.

"You wanted to see me, your megalomanicalness?" She couldn't help wondering what fresh hell Eighth had in store for her.

Eighth didn't exactly mean to mimic Sam's stance, but it was the Standard Samantha Carter Is Pissed position. "So. Carter. I just wanted to let you know that I didn't take over your precious friend's homeworld. But I'd warn him that a far bigger threat is lying in wait."

"Far bigger threat?" Sam unconsciously drew herself up to attention and tried to memorize every detail. "What? Does this have anything to do with Fifth being your substitute last class?"

She sniffed in disgust. "No, it has nothing to do with Fifth---" and it the realization hit her like ton of bricks. The disintegrated replicator in her office, how neatly everything had been stacked on her desk, the flowers on her chair, and that terrifying feeling that someone was watching her. She raised herself to her full height and in a very quiet, yet very deadly voice. "What do you mean? Fifth was here?"

"He taught your class just before break," Sam said, trying to figure out what Eighth's game was. "Are you telling me you didn't know? Kind of falling down on the job, there."

She covers her mouth with her hand and looks terrified for a long moment. Too long. Forcing herself to put herself together, she glowered again at her younger human clone. "What that thing does is the least of my concerns anyway, Carter." She clenched her teeth before forcing a smile. "And I'm through with you, thank you for stopping by," she continued.

"Maybe I'm not through with you," Sam replied, standing her ground. "What did you mean, about the greater threat to Lee's planet? I need to warn him."

"Carter, I'm not going to tell you to get out of my way twice," she seethes quietly, not moving in a threatening manner. Yet.

"And you know better than anyone that I'm not moving until I get an answer."

She gave Sam a small smile before looking down at her manicured nails, admiring the length of her fingers. "Hrm," she intoned before slamming her palm into Sam's forehead and clawing deep into her brain with her nails. She sighed in relief as her fury flew threw her system, blasting into the human's brain.

Sam stood still and went slightly lax as images began to flash through her mind.

Jonas, falling into the horizontal Stargate. Narim, planet destroyed. Martouf, falling to the floor of the gateroom after she shot him for being a traitor. Fifth, blown up by a bomb she set too early. Joe Faxon, who stayed behind to fight the Aschen while she made her escape. Jack, strapped to the chair in Atlantis, unconscious. Daniel, his false death by fire, then the real one by radiation years later. Janet, pale and lifeless on the stretcher.

Her Jack, disappeared to god knew where. In her mind's eye, controlled by Eighth, he was tortured. Lee Adama, in that clearing in the woods, held captive by replicators and tortured while she watched, helpless. MacGyver, looking so much like Jack, trying to dodge robots in the Danger Shop. Again, Eighth's fault.

But who was responsible for Eighth, if she wasn't? Tears began to stream down her face.

She savors the sensation of justice (a distinct memory passed down from her creator) and releases Sam for a moment, her other hand gripping her wrist to keep her from falling.

Sam gasped for breath. Her knees weakened slightly and she almost fell to the floor. "Why?"

"All I want is to save them from my mistakes," she said, sadly, unaware Mac and Janet were even in the room.

"You're no martyr, Samantha Carter," she grumbles, turning to face the others in the room and gripping Sam close to her.

Mac tried to move to stop Eighth but was held up by the broken leg.
"Let her go Samantha! Now!"

Janet, however, had no broken leg to worry about. She raced to grab Sam and pull her away from Eighth. "Leave her alone!" she snapped.

"Take one step closer and I will kill her," she says quietly to the advancing Janet. She tightens her grip on Sam, a hand encircling her neck.

Sam struggled slightly in Eighth's grip, but was too weak to do much. "Leave..." she panted, unable to finish her thought.

"You kill her and I don't care what kind of thing you are," Mac threatened. "I'll tear you apart with a frickin' can opener."

Janet froze. She had no doubts that Eighth would do exactly what she'd said she would. "What do you want?" She glared at Eighth. She didn't need to bother threatening her. Eighth already knew what Janet would do to her if she harmed Sam.

"Let me pass," she says icily, taking two steps towards the door. "I have business to take care of. I don't particularly wish to harm any of you--" and her eyes linger on Mac's face, the ache of missing Jack almost overwhelming her for a moment. "So, get out of my way."
