doubleohblonde: (Girl!Bond is classy)

Bond did not look particularly bothered by the fact that he was still looking decidedly female this morning, but this might have been because he still cut quite the dashing figure in his suit.

Of course, given that the class appeared to be taking place during a considerably large street festival, he did look slightly out of place.

"The Brazilian Carnival originally arose in the seventeenth century from the Roman Catholic tradition of pre-Lenten celebrations," he began once the class had finished arriving. "While the most well known Carnival takes place in Rio de Janeiro, the holiday is celebrated throughout the country with variations from state to state." Bond continued for a while, talking about both the history and various aspects of the festival.

"You can spend the rest of the class exploring the street festival, or watching the parades, but do try to keep out of trouble."

The only nice thing about that whole vacation thing last week was that Farnsworth didn't have to teach, and he decided it was so nice, that he didn't really have to teach today, either.

By 'not teaching,' he meant recycling another class from the summer. It was perfect, because it still looked like teaching.

"I see you've all survived the last week and subsequent gender-bending last few days," said Farnsworth at the beginning of class, not even bothering to mask his disappointment. The most depressing part of the whole trip was the utter lack of teenager-eating robot abominable snow men, and his utter lack of ability to make an army of them before the vacation was complete. He went to the blackboard and wrote: Today's Lesson: Superduper Symmetrical String Theory and, below it, a great mass of goobledy gock formulas, and a diagram of what looked like dog, but a dog covered in a giant dog-sized sock tied with string.

He went on to explain a whole mess of information regarding how the superduper symmetrical string theory, or SD SdT from here on in, is all about a quantum theory of gravity, which is different than a quantum theory of, say, electromagnetism, nuclear forces, or your mom. Essentially, it is focused on the idea that the universe could never be smaller than the size of a string, at which point it would actually begin expanding, and that no measurable differences can be detected between strings that wrap around dimensions smaller than themselves and those that move along larger dimensions.

Which all made enough sense a baby could figure it out and was surely helped along by Farnsworth's drawings, which appeared like they belonged more on a Rorschach test than a mathematics classroom.

"Now," Farnsworth continued without pause, "our physical space is observed by complete idiots to have only three large dimensions and, taken together with duration as the fourth dimension, a physical theory must take this into account. However, nothing prevents a theory from including more than 4 dimensions, you know. String theory here consistency requires spacetime to have 10 dimensions. We have four here." He drew something on the board. "Where are the other six?"

"So your assignment today," he turned back to the class with such a deceptively kind smile, "is to create one of those missing six dimensions. Won't that be fun? Hopefully you can all come up with less lame ideas than those crackpots who took this class before you."

"And when you're finished with that, I have this very informative video for you to watch and, next week, I'd like you to write a six page report for next week about its main points and how it showcases the theories on the mathematics of quantum neutrino fields discussed thus far."

Assigning a long report on a homecoming weekend was just the sort of thing to make Farnsworth's day better.

"Yo, Rookies!" Bet you all missed that, huh? Reno was grinning extra wide today, possibly because he missed you all. Or maybe for the same reason that he had left a few more buttons undone on his shirt than usual, today. Because he could. "Today, we're gonna get into some more practical crap than usual, yo. For the next couple of weeks, I'm gonna shamelessly turn these classes into semi-meetings like them three groups that have formed on this island to keep everybody all safe an' shit."

Really, it was probably a huge relief to be kept all 'safe and shit,' right?

"I ain't gonna tackle 'em in any particular order of importance, because they all three got their strengths to 'em. But I'll tackle Support today, just because I think you can all get some good outta our in-class assignment if anything smacks us hard in the near future, yo."

He nodded back toward his desk, which was full of assorted bandages and antiseptics, a few bottles of dubious-looking fluids from Reno's home, a couple of really random looking items all labelled up neatly, and a few sheets of paper with the phone numbers for the clinic and the trooper station written on them, as well as Reno's own. Under that, there was a good amount of space left to fill up with whatever else students seemed to think might be important.

"Emergency kits," he announced. "With some basic first-aid crap, some emergency contact lists for you to fill in with what you think is important- My name's on there, yo. That ain't for pleasure calls or shit like that. Call me if you got some kinda invading critter breathin' down your throat and you need a quick rescue. Unless you can think of someone better. I won't be heartbroken, so long as you make it outta there alive. And if you're feelin' brave, I got some basic healing items and some of the less dangerous attack items from where I'm from to throw in there, too."

Sorry, kids. He wasn't going to hand you any poisons or instant death items today.

"Get to it, Rookies."

Rinoa was having a wonderful morning, thank you very much. She'd had a lovely date, and now she was a girl again, and here she was in the library! What more could she ask for?

She was even going to try to be productive and get all of the reshelving done early. She had a romance novel to get back to, after all.

Cindy was smiling when the students entered class today, and there was coffee and pastries on her desk for people to snag as they filed in. "Welcome back and in your proper bodies, too," she said when it was time to start class. "Which is a good opening as any to talk about sex."

Let's talk about sex, baby )

"So the question becomes, what point does sex in literature serve? Does it need to shown, or can it be skimmed over and elided. If it is shown, does it need to have a purpose, or is it okay to just be enjoyed? In the books you've read and the movies you've seen, has there been sex that meant more than 'just sex'? Let's talk."

"The good news is," Kyle said when just about everyone was there, "if you're back to normal, you don't have to learn how to do everything all over again because your center of gravity is different. So, good for everyone. There's no bad news. I just like starting with good news. We're going to do something different today. I drew maps for everyone." He handed out some rough sketches of Fandom's buildings and town layout. "We're here," he pointed to the main gate. "Sometimes the roads aren't clear or aren't safe to use because they're so out in the open. That's where climbing and jumping can be used to get you to where you want to be without having to use the ground too much. Let's say we wanted to get to Efferton Manor from here. Look at the buildings. Look at the alleys. Look at what you could use and what you're capable of. Talk to each other and figure out what you think is a good route to use. The other thing I thought we could work on is speed. You have to have speed to make some of the longer jumps. Anyone want to race down Apocalypse Avenue?"

Aly waited outside the door to the Danger Shop until the class was assembled. Once they were, she pushed open the door, revealing a room outfitted like a dance studio. Mirrors, barre, sprung floor, and all. Aly waited at the door to make sure every student got in, and none escaped once they saw what was in the room.

Shutting the door behind her, Aly made her way to the center of the room. "Right. This wasn't the original plan, but then I realised Homecoming was this weekend. And if there's anything I want to impart, it's the need to always, always be prepared for anything. When you're planning a revolution of any type, you have to pay attention to the basics before anything else. And today, we're going to start with the most basic of all. Movement."

"Controlled movement, complete control over each muscle is necessary to move silently, to climb well, to fight, to keep your hands steady," she grinned quickly. "You get my drift, right? It just so happens that one of the best way to work on movement control is through dancing." And now Aly looked even more amused. "So, that's what we're going to do today."

Aly raised an eyebrow at Nico. "Want to come up and help me?" It wasn't really a question and soon Aly was reminding Nico just to follow her lead. They demonstrated a trio of dances that, while simple, relying on paired movement and working with your partner, not against him or her.

After the demonstration, she turned back to the class. "There you are. Pair up, give it a try. If there are any questions, feel free to ask." Aly grinned. "And before anyone asks, yes, there are a number of other ways to train your muscles to control movement. Martial arts is one, tai chi is one, simple repetition of movement until it's in muscle memory is one. But I like dancing. And you all should know how to dance anyway," she teased. "Your homework this weekend? Dance with someone at Homecoming. And try to enjoy it."

[OOC: Seriously. It' the week before Homecoming. This had to happen. Nico modded with permission because obviously Hades' kid needs some embarrassment.]
