So You Say You Want a Revolution: Week 7, Period 3

Aly waited outside the door to the Danger Shop until the class was assembled. Once they were, she pushed open the door, revealing a room outfitted like a dance studio. Mirrors, barre, sprung floor, and all. Aly waited at the door to make sure every student got in, and none escaped once they saw what was in the room.

Shutting the door behind her, Aly made her way to the center of the room. "Right. This wasn't the original plan, but then I realised Homecoming was this weekend. And if there's anything I want to impart, it's the need to always, always be prepared for anything. When you're planning a revolution of any type, you have to pay attention to the basics before anything else. And today, we're going to start with the most basic of all. Movement."

"Controlled movement, complete control over each muscle is necessary to move silently, to climb well, to fight, to keep your hands steady," she grinned quickly. "You get my drift, right? It just so happens that one of the best way to work on movement control is through dancing." And now Aly looked even more amused. "So, that's what we're going to do today."

Aly raised an eyebrow at Nico. "Want to come up and help me?" It wasn't really a question and soon Aly was reminding Nico just to follow her lead. They demonstrated a trio of dances that, while simple, relying on paired movement and working with your partner, not against him or her.

After the demonstration, she turned back to the class. "There you are. Pair up, give it a try. If there are any questions, feel free to ask." Aly grinned. "And before anyone asks, yes, there are a number of other ways to train your muscles to control movement. Martial arts is one, tai chi is one, simple repetition of movement until it's in muscle memory is one. But I like dancing. And you all should know how to dance anyway," she teased. "Your homework this weekend? Dance with someone at Homecoming. And try to enjoy it."

[OOC: Seriously. It' the week before Homecoming. This had to happen. Nico modded with permission because obviously Hades' kid needs some embarrassment.]

Cara (who currently hated everything) was certain that if she demonstrated controlled movement backwards she'd be able to sneak away while Aly was demonstrating.

Percy wanted to bang his head against the desk again. He didn't though. Instead, he just looked uncomfortable and unhappy with this lesson.

At least those feelings distracted him from glaring at Nico and sneaking side glances at Luke. Well, for the most part, at least.

Luke didn't really mind the dancing thing. It was sort of like athletics, so he couldn't be terrible at it. He still looked to be in a bad mood, which probably had a lot to do with sitting in the same room as Percy.

Look, just because he started the argument didn't mean he was gonna apologize or make things better. He'd rather sit and look annoyed, thank you.

Oh, as they seemed to say everywhere in this galaxy, even a thousand years in the future, dear.

Not that Cally didn't enjoy music, even dancing, but she knew none of this time's version of either. And then there was the whole issue of The Dance, which was apparently very different from a dance, and held all sorts of social implications she barely comprehended.

Percy sighed and stood with his arms crossed, waiting for a partner. Obviously, he was quite the little expert in dancing. Maybe put a sword in his hand and he'd do better but without, not a chance.

Although Kyle had danced before, he was far from an expert. Aly's explanation of why they were doing this made sense though, so he looked around, trying to make eye contact with anyone who might have wanted a partner.

Luke did his best to get out of his bad mood before doing the assignment, since you didn't tend to dance well if you were distracted. He stood and waited for a partner, looking a bit better than he had during the lecture.

Cara looked like she'd be so much fun to dance with, really.

Elphaba went out to the middle of the dance floor and put her hands on her hips. "I promise I won't bite," she declared, a little defensively.

Proto wasn't really a dancer, or, at least, not that kind of dancer. Big group social dances, sure, but partnered stuff?

Though, really, that was more of an opportunity thing, so... maybe this would be interesting. He looked around, trying to remember if the protocol was that he asked someone, or if they asked him.

Since he was on the Student Council, Jason had accepted the fact that he was going to have to go to the Homecoming dance. But actually dancing was a different story. He looked around for a partner, not wanting to get into trouble with Aly, but he wasn't trying very hard.

Percy was there, having no idea what dancing had to do with a revolution. He wasn't the teacher though so he kept his mouth shut for once.

Nico didn't need dancing to raise some troops but after getting called up to dance with the teacher it wasn't like he could avoid it. "This would've been easier as a girl," he muttered.

"Is it really homework?" Elphaba came up to the teacher, looking a little exasperated at the idea.

She was not a social butterfly.

It had been far, far too long since Zoe had had the chance to talk to Aly, and while she could have given her some warning that she was coming, just showing up seemed like it would work just as well. She could pretend it hadn't been quite as long that way.

"Really, you'd think the boys would want to have an excuse to get close to the objects of their affections," she said after slipping in and watching the students.
