locointhecoco: (cake!)

The Danger Shop was set up like Sugarcube Corner, a ponified sweets shop straight out of Pinkie's hometown of Ponyville. There was a counter full of displays of baked goods, including a wide array of colorful cupcakes with apples on top. There were cakes of almost any conceivable size, shape, and flavor. There was a chocolate fountain, surrounded by marshmallows on sticks. There was a punch bowl -- fortunately without a baby alligator swimming in it.

The walls were lined with streamers, and balloons peppered the ceiling. Next to the door was a table full of party hats in bright, cheerful colors, one for each student with their name painstakingly and shakily copied onto it in magic marker.

This was Pinkie's class, after all. Like it wasn't going to get started with a party?

"Hi everypony!" Pinkie crowed when it seemed like everyone had arrived. She was wearing one of her snazzier party hats, shaped like a cake with lit sparklers along the top of it, and as she welcomed the students, she bounced onto her hind legs, flinging her hoofs -- and a lot of confetti -- into the air. "Welcome to the Elements of Friendship! And what's the basis of making new friends? Meeting new ponies!"

She was far too excited by this.

"So today is devoted totally to a great big welcome-it's-nice-to-meetcha party! We have loads of snacks and even my favoritest of bestest party games, Pin-the-Tail-on-the-Pony! So lets all introduce ourselves and have fun!"

[ooc: Party on, class!]

To say that Billy had been excited about this class would be a major understatement. He'd been looking forward to being in a class about superheroing from the moment he'd signed up for it, so he hadn't been all that surprised when he was one of the first ones in the classroom.

When the period started, and there was no sign of their teacher, he tried not to look restless, glancing around to see if anyone else was watching the clock. When it became clear that their teacher was not going to arrive, something in Billy snapped, and he grabbed his notebook and stood up, determined to salvage something from this afternoon.

"Uh, hi," he said nervously. Now that he was actually looking at everyone, he didn't entirely know what to say. "I don't know about you guys, but it seems like kind of a waste to have come here just to turn around and leave, but obviously we shouldn't just sit here if our teacher's not going to come and, you know, teach us. So, uh, how about this: I'll write down everyone's name, and grade, and something you want Ms. Electroclash and the rest of us to know about you and/or your abilities, and I'll leave a note for her and then we can just, like, go. If we don't do it now, she might make us do the introduction thing next week--" assuming she showed up then "--so we could just get it out of the way now so we can actually learn something next time." Right? Right.

"Um, I'll go ahead and start. I'm Billy Kaplan, I'm a sophomore, and I can actually do quite a few things, but my favorite one of them at the moment is being able to fly." It meant he'd be able to get out of here faster if he felt like he was going to pass out from embarrassment. "Who wants to go next?"

Today was shaping up to be a good day for Billy, with his first library shift and all. He took a few minutes to stash his stuff behind the desk and get a good layout of the library - he'd only wandered through about half of the sections before, for his own personal reading interests. Once he was settled back at the desk, he pulled out the binder and script that Troy had given him, and started breaking down the scenes in Petey Sci-Fi like he'd been asked. Hopefully, any visitors wouldn't notice the way his ears were turning pink as he read.

Summer had put out some moddable snacks and drinks for her students and stood at the front of the classroom, nursing a large cup of coffee. She waited until her students settled in before beginning.

"Good morning," Summer began, smiling brightly. "Welcome to Life of the Sea. I'm Summer Pitt, for those of you that might not know me. You can call me Summer or Miss Pitt, if you're more comfortable with that."

"This class will focus on various plants and animals that call the ocean home. Along the way, we'll touch on coral reefs, tidal pools and other plants and animals that need the ocean to survive. You'll even get the chance to get up close and personal with simulated and real, live oceanic plants and animals."

She was looking forward to putting those together for her students.

"Why don't we start off with some introductions? How about your name, grade and favorite sea creature/mammal if you have one."

"Good morning," Anakin said, sweeping into the classroom. "I'm Anakin Skywalker and this is Ethics. If you're in the wrong place, now's the time to get up and flee."

If you were in the right place, it wasn't bad advice either, depending on Anakin's mood. He paced in front of their desks as he spoke, Jedi robe swirling behind him. "Most classes this week focus on introductions, but there are a few familiar faces in the classroom already and I'll figure out the rest of you as we go along. Fandom, as you might have realized already, is a multi-dimensional nexus where beings from many different places and times come together." He made sure to look each student in the eyes as he spoke. "As such, what you may feel to be moral and immoral might be completely different than the person sitting next to you. I encourage discussion, even heated discussion, but it must be phrased in a constructive way. Responses like 'yes, but that's dumb,' 'yes, but you're dumb', or punching someone are not constructive."

He'd had all of those reactions before, of course, but this wasn't about the ethics of the Ethics teacher.

"We touch on unpleasant subjects in this class, some of which might not be all that hypothetical to your life's experience," he added. "If you prefer not to discuss a particular scenario, just let me know by shaking your head and I'll skip you until the next week."

Anakin clasped his hands together. "Now, let's begin: if you had to choose between killing one person in order to save five others, or doing nothing even though you know that doing nothing means that those five people would die before your eyes, what would you do? And what do you think would be the right thing to do?"

He glanced down at his notes. "Oh, yes. Finally, could Mr. Hawkins and Miss Gabrielle please see me after class."

Scott was going to host class in the Danger Shop today, but upon hearing exactly what that was, he couldn't quite bring himself to do it. It had taken enough energy to shave and wear a recently washed shirt. He couldn't also face such a reminder of his time with the X-Men. With... her. So when the class showed up to the normal classroom Scott had picked instead, they would see a tall guy standing in front of his desk who looked and smelled much cleaner than he had a week ago. But despite his cleanliness, Scott was wearing red tinted sunglasses despite being indoors, so there still had to be SOMETHING weird about him.

Or maybe you just knew him already, killing all of the suspense. Sigh. AUs.
