The Elements of Friendship, Thursday, Period 3

The Danger Shop was set up like Sugarcube Corner, a ponified sweets shop straight out of Pinkie's hometown of Ponyville. There was a counter full of displays of baked goods, including a wide array of colorful cupcakes with apples on top. There were cakes of almost any conceivable size, shape, and flavor. There was a chocolate fountain, surrounded by marshmallows on sticks. There was a punch bowl -- fortunately without a baby alligator swimming in it.

The walls were lined with streamers, and balloons peppered the ceiling. Next to the door was a table full of party hats in bright, cheerful colors, one for each student with their name painstakingly and shakily copied onto it in magic marker.

This was Pinkie's class, after all. Like it wasn't going to get started with a party?

"Hi everypony!" Pinkie crowed when it seemed like everyone had arrived. She was wearing one of her snazzier party hats, shaped like a cake with lit sparklers along the top of it, and as she welcomed the students, she bounced onto her hind legs, flinging her hoofs -- and a lot of confetti -- into the air. "Welcome to the Elements of Friendship! And what's the basis of making new friends? Meeting new ponies!"

She was far too excited by this.

"So today is devoted totally to a great big welcome-it's-nice-to-meetcha party! We have loads of snacks and even my favoritest of bestest party games, Pin-the-Tail-on-the-Pony! So lets all introduce ourselves and have fun!"

"I'll start! My name is Pinkie Pie, but you can all call me Pinkie. Everypony does! I'm from Ponyville, which is in Equestria, and I love to throw parties!"

She pointed her hoof at a random student. "Now you! What's your name? Where are you from? What do you absotively posolutely love to do?"

Lex wasn't entirely sure how he ended up in the pink pony class. "I'm Lex, I come from Metropolis, and I like reading comics."

"Ooooooooooooooooo." Pinkie was fairly easily impressed. "What kinds of comics?"

"I'm Nobody but most everyone calls me Bod," he started, nodding at the rest of the class. "I'm from a graveyard in England and I like to read just about any book I can get my hands on. Anything interesting."

Jim grinned. It was good to be back in one of Ms. Pie's classes, especially after the crazy semester he'd just taken off.

"I'm Jim, from the mining planet Montressor," he greeted, "and I love flying around on my surfer, and building things."

"I'm Anna," Anna said. "I'm from Canada. Thunder Bay, it's in Ontario? I...don't know what I love doing." Right now the most thrilling thing in her world was not having to kill people, which was probably not what the class wanted to hear. "I used to really like taking pictures." You know. Back when she was alive. She'd also loved cooking, but she wasn't bringing that up because then people might want her to do it, then wonder why she didn't eat.

"Hi, Pinkie!" Rapunzel waved excitedly. She remembered the pony from her first day on the island.

"I'm Rapunzel, and I love making new friends!" It was so, so true, too.

"I'm from Seacouver, and I love, stealing things! uh, riding motorcycles?" Even if opportunities to do so were really limited around here.

For those new to the island, this is a good time to boggle at the talking pink anthropomorphic sugar high pony and question your sanity.

For those who've been around awhile . . . well, you're free to do that as well, but Pinkie recommends enjoying some snacks.

Bod got himself something to drink and attempted to mingle. He still wasn't great at it but at least he wasn't standing against a wall, looking at his feet.

It said so much that despite the fact the party was being thrown by a pink talking pony, he was far more eager to mingle than he'd been at any of the events Lionel had dragged him to over the holidays.

If it was wrong to enjoy the chocolate fountain by sticking his whole face in it, he didn't want to be right!

If there was any one thing that Jim had missed about Earth, it was definitely the food. He had a whole plate full of junk food that wasn't crawling away from him, and Jim was totally going to consider that a win.

There's a blindfold all set up, and loads of paper ponytails all ready to be pinned.

There's also a big poster of a tail-less pony to aim at, though Pinkie will understand if you end up pinning it on her instead.

Hank did not play pin-the-tail-on-the-pony. He tried to, several times, but ended up "playing pin-the-tail-on-the wall, floor, table, or other student" instead.
