There was a note outside the classroom today, letting the students know to meet in the Danger Shop for class. Someone enjoyed that room a little too much for setting up examples.

"Today we'll be looking into the observation of an unaware subject," Sherlock informed them upon arrival. He possibly definitely gave William a sharp look. Because, really now. Really. "First lesson is that we do not accept drinks from the targets. Especially not ones who have picked up on your presence."

And that would be another look aimed at poor William.

"And if they do give you a drink, you leave because they've seen you," he added with a smile that was nowhere near genuine. "So, today you're all to spread out and attempt to observe one of your classmates without being noticed. I understand this may be a difficult task, but try to blend in."

A beat.

"Even with the hats."

Goddamn Fandom.

Loki had spent all morning trying to figure out a way to make his class do some of the accounting shit he still had left to do for the apartment building but failed at thinking of a way at adapting it to the class. For that, he felt sad. He'd have to try harder next time.

He was still in class though as the lesson he had come up with was pretty fucking awesome. It required the Danger Shop so that's where they were today.

"Being a badass means being cool under pressure," he started, arms crossed. "It means not freaking and wetting yourself at the first sign of trouble. It means keeping your fucking head in high stress situations so you can get out of the mess and keep on going. To do that, you've got to have confidence in yourself and your abilities. I'm not here to give you a fucking pep talk though. That's not my job."

And he'd sooner vomit glass before he got a job as an inspirational speaker.

"If you're in a high stress situation, play to your abilities. If you can beat the shit out of someone, do that. If you can talk your way out of it, do that. If you can use your magic mojo, do that. That's the easiest way to keep your head. Of course, it's not always going to be that easy. You might have to fight if you're not a fighter. You might have to do some computer shit and you're not a fucking gamer nerd. When that happens, you're more likely to freak the fuck out. You're also more likely to look like a total badass if you get through the situation. In those situations when you're at a disadvantage, the confidence comes in handy. Knowing that you can do this shit and not caring about the consequences. If you think you're gonna die, get captured, get your clothes dirty, it's going to hold you back. Be uninhibited. Let it loose. Crank it up, what the fuck ever."

With that said, Loki got the simulation going. The sim took them to an incredibly high bridge. There were bungee cords set up. Below the bridge, however, was red hot molten lava.

"This is your assignment for today. You're going to have to bungee off this bridge towards what might be a very bad ending. You gonna take that chance? You think you can do it. Let's see, shall we?"

Loki motioned for the students to get going.

The problem with those independent study courses was that eventually you had to actually finish them and take exams. And when you hadn't been really...studying all term.

So George was trying not to fall asleep as he spent the day reading the Econ textbook. It was a losing battle.

Yes, Kūkaku had a santa hat. Yes, she'd tried to remove it. Yes, it kept being replaced by another one. Which was annoying as hell, but, clearly, nothing could be done about it, so she was just going to pretend it wasn't there at all.

She was, however, going to take advantage of this endless supply of targets.

"I don't know if you kids've noticed," she started out, "but the island thinks it's funny. So let's tell it what we think of its sense of humour. We've learned a lot about blowing things up in this class, and the big thing I've emphasized is that anyone with gunpowder and a flame can blow shit up. It takes talent, time, and skill to blow something up with finesse and precision, though. So that's what we'll focus on. Spend some time to work on your bombs before we head to the Danger Shop, where we'll take all these freakin' hats, put them on some dummies, and then blow them right offa their caps. But here's the thing. We want just the hats. You're gonna be graded by points; the more damage to the actual dummy, the fewer points you'll get. But you can earn points if you make your explosions particularly interesting or destructive to the hat. Use whatever kind of material, detonation, whatever you want, just destroy the hats without harming the dummy too much. The more you do it, the better you'll probably get, and, let's face it..."

She took a moment to take off the hat currently on her head, and, sure enough, another was there within the minute. "We ain't runnin' out of these things anytime soon."

"Let's get to work."

"Hey, everyone," Ben said, blushing faintly and trying to hide under his Santa hat. "Sorry I missed the last few weeks. I, um, was a cat. With the Earth holidays coming up, a lot of students will be heading home for a few weeks, and I know that's not possible for some of you. Is there anything we can do as a group to make your time in the dorms a little less lonesome?"

This Apathy Club looked a little deserted, Rinoa thought as she arrived. And not all that enthusiastic. Okay, it was Apathy Club, but wasn't that the whole point of the club? To try their best to shake off that apathy and learn sunnier, better ways of coping with themselves?

Yeah. Someone didn't get Apathy Club.

No one else seemed to be definitively in charge -- possibly because their reluctant leader was off taking souls -- and so Rinoa, being Rinoa, took it upon herself to get the ball rolling.

"Hi, everyone!" Rinoa said brightly, standing up to greet the room. "My name's Rinoa Heartilly. I'm not a member, but I thought it might be nice to drop in. Squall said it was okay."

Technically, Squall had failed to stop her from coming. There was a very important difference, there.

"I can't wait to see what's going to happen! So ... who usually gets things started?" Rinoa asked, clapping her hands in front of herself. "I have some really great ideas for things we should talk about! Who wants to go first?"

The room did not seem exactly to be leaping up to join her awesome ideas, here.

"Okay," she said, finally, putting her hands on her hips. "I'll go first. But that means someone else has to go second. And then maybe we could play a game!"

Rinoa might not leave the room alive.

(await the unholy OCD! ... I have kind of wanted to do this ever since I started the club, yes.)
