Seely was sitting at the front of the classroom with his feet on the desk.

"Hope you guys enjoyed the break. I feel our last meeting was a success, let's hope we can have just as successful one this week. Now, I've been thinking we could organise a couple of events that are less likely to get us in trouble, poker, movie night, that kind of thing, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on the subject.

"And of course, there's pizza."

"Hello. I'm your substitute teacher, Dorothy Petrillo-Zbornak. That's a mouthful, and I'm only your teacher for today, so you can call me Dorothy. Your teacher, Professor Frizzle. Frizzle? That's what it says. Professor Frizzle, whose parents probably took acid in the sixties, has left a class plan for me so we continue where you left off.

I'm sure you're all thrilled.

Today's topic is electricity. I'm talking about actual electricity, not the kind you have with a member of the opposite sex - or the same sex if you're that way inclined - that then fades after you marry them.

On your desk you'll find a handout on the construction of the atom and electrons.

Electricity is conducted through something. A material. Some materials are conductive and some aren't. Silver is the most conductive of all metals. So if you look like a Madam in a brothel in Atlanta with all of the jewelry, and everyone knows that even the gold jewelry is gold-plated silver, then don't put your hand into an active socket or a toaster. The electricity will be conducted and you'll fry like the Colonel's chicken or my mother if left in the sun too long. The results are pretty much the same.

The least conductive material is deionized water. Drinking water isn't so bad either, but sea water is.

Let's talk about how electricity is made. On the other side of your handout there's a diagram for how a steam turbine works. But there are cleaner ways than forcing billowing smoke into the atmosphere and turning it into a thick layer of smog.

What suggestions can you think of?"

[OOC: Because The Golden Girls has been mentioned in game many times before, we're going to go with this concept: the show was a reality TV show that followed the lives of Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia. If your character would know the show, they would know of Dorothy.]

Vader swept into the room and slammed the door behind him as usual.

"Immortality," he intoned, pacing in front of the class, mental walls incredibly strong. On this topic most of all, he had no interest in students poking around in his head. "Many beings have made life-altering choices in order to avoid dying, or to try to avoid someone they love dying. They've broken under torture, they've made pacts with powerful beings, they've sold their souls like a commodity. They've cloned themselves, murdered thousands, created machines to stop the passage of time."

Vader's cape billowed out around him as he turned. "Today's discussion is not about why all sentient and mortal beings seem to fear death. Today, you shall discuss what you would be prepared to give up if it would guarantee that you would live forever."

As students made their way into the class this morning they had their choice of coffee or tea and a variety of pastries. Wilson himself was seated behind the desk, a far away look on his pale face. When everyone was in and settled, he unfolded himself from his chair and walked around to the front of the desk.

“Good morning. Today we’re going to discuss two ideas: forgiveness vs revenge and in conjunction with this, cooperation vs confrontation.”

Rubbing his hand across his forehead, he lowered it and flicked on the overhead.

There were coconuts everywhere in the cafeteria. Apparently "Mary Ann" was getting overzealous with the coconut cream pie making. The whole cafeteria staff has taken to eating them during their breaks. Das Schnitzel was considering calling a doctor for the Chef, who has now insisted that Das Schnitzel call him "Little Buddy".

Today's Menu:

-Cheeseburgers

-French Fries

-Cobb Salad

-Coconut Cream Pie (please eat it!)

Rory bustled sleepily into the library with her laptop, coffee, and a special and very sleepy visitor in her bag.

She was hoping no one would really notice that last one.

"Good afternoon, class. I hope you had a good break. Today, we'll be talking about the merengue, but first I want to talk about your final project."

"Now, as I told you all, you will be creating a dance video in groups. After a lot of thought, I decided that it would best if you were sorted into pairs."

He wrote up the names on the board.

Walter-Billy
Lana-River
Pippi-Willow
Carter-Nadia

"Now, I want you to spend some time at the end of class talking with your partner, so we'll end dance practice early. Nadia, please come up here and we'll show them the merengue," El said, as he began his lecture on the merengue.

John Winchester was standing in the middle of the workout mats, his son Sam standing a little behind him looking less than thrilled to be there.

"Alanna's a bit under the weather this week," John said, glancing over to where Alanna was skulking around near the table set up with pizza and drinks in a sniffling miserable lump. "So I'm going to be taking a more active role. We're going to be looking at how to avoid and break out of choke holds today. My son Sammy," he nodded towards his son, managing to not smile at the thunderous expression he was wearing, "has graciously offered to help me demonstrate and help you get it right."

John demonstrated several different blocking moves with Sam, as well as several more techniques for getting out of choke hold if the blocking moves didn't work. This involved Sammy having to break out of John choking him over and over. Which hopefully, will have those particular lessons sink in enough that the next time Sam was in a fight he wouldn't walk away with a bruised throat.

"Okay," John said when the demonstration was over. "Pair up and give the moves a try. Sammy and I will help where needed."

[OOC: Alanna and Sam modded with permission, OCDs are up]

Rory was curled up on the couch omgsolate and was working on her column as per usual.

Today, Nimitz prowled restlessly around the room, his attention focussed on something. In her mind, Honor had a distinct feeling he was stalking something, but what it was, she couldn't quite make out. She shook her head and decided to leave well enough alone. By the time students began filing in, she was back at her usual place in the front of the room.

A taut smile greeted the students as she watched them. 'Find your seats, please, and we'll get started.' )Five minutes before the end of class, she resumed her position at the front of the room. "What I've just handed you is a copy of an article that speculated about the coming 'clash of civilizations.' We'll be discussing it next class period, so please bring a discussion question with you.

"As for your assignments -- please pass those in as you leave, and let me know if you have any questions or comments."

The same taut smile returned to her lips. "Class dismissed."

[::sigh:: Hate going to the client site *and* going to the office, but couldn't be helped. Slow play through the weekend if needed, and I'll be around tomorrow. Yay for federal holidays!

The article I've linked to will be available through Thursday of next week (I hope). After that, I need to take it down. It's a 2 MB PDF file, so it might not be dial-up friendly.

OCD coming up...and now in the right place!]

Josh was still in a mood that could be described as "deliriously happy."

"Hello!" he said cheerily as the Student Council filed into the classroom. "In honor of possibly the Best Week Ever, help yourself to the finest muffins and bagels in all the land!" He waved his hands at the selection from J,GOB that had been dumped oh-so-artistically on a couple of desks.

"We have a project! Dean Tick has given the next assembly--the one on November 17th--to us to plan. I'm assuming that none of you want to reenact the Nixon-Kennedy debates--my first thought--so I'm open for any ideas you can come up with." He gave Jamie a look. "That doesn't include an orgy."
