John Winchester was standing in the middle of the workout mats, his son Sam standing a little behind him looking less than thrilled to be there.

"Alanna's a bit under the weather this week," John said, glancing over to where Alanna was skulking around near the table set up with pizza and drinks in a sniffling miserable lump. "So I'm going to be taking a more active role. We're going to be looking at how to avoid and break out of choke holds today. My son Sammy," he nodded towards his son, managing to not smile at the thunderous expression he was wearing, "has graciously offered to help me demonstrate and help you get it right."

John demonstrated several different blocking moves with Sam, as well as several more techniques for getting out of choke hold if the blocking moves didn't work. This involved Sammy having to break out of John choking him over and over. Which hopefully, will have those particular lessons sink in enough that the next time Sam was in a fight he wouldn't walk away with a bruised throat.

"Okay," John said when the demonstration was over. "Pair up and give the moves a try. Sammy and I will help where needed."

This time really. *waves hands at that other journal you never saw*

Pick a partner and choke each other. Or something like that.

Billy looked around for a partner.

"You up for this, man?" asked Conner. He wasn't a fan of being choked, but you learned to live with these things after a while. It hurt a little less than being run over with soccer cleats, anyway.

"Absolutely." Billy said. "You want to start or should I?"

Conner thought it over. "I can try and choke you. I don't have much practice being the bad guy."

"Sure go for it. I'll practice getting out of it first."

Pip looked around for someone as close as possible to his six feet and five inches in height to partner with.

'Cause choke holds with a height difference are really difficult.

Sam's still hanging around, rubbing his neck a little. Odds are, he's the tallest person there.

Pip nodded to Sam. "Feel up to it again? You look like the only who could reach me."

Sam looked Pip up and down, sizing him up. "Sure," he replied.

Pip nodded and turned his back to Sam. "I first learned how to do this move when I was... I think ten. Dean told me you guys had a similar sort of intense upbringing?"

"Yeah, we started about that young too." Sam smirked as he glanced over at his dad. "As you saw, the training never really stops, as far as my dad's concerned," he said. When Pip looked ready, Sam moved in to grab him.

Pip's hands shot up as he saw the hands on his right side and hoped that his left was heading to the right place.

Damn lack of peripheral vision on that side.

"You should have seen my grandfather when he was here. I'm pretty certain he wanted to have a knife fight."

Sam stepped back for a moment as Pip blocked him. "Sounds like he and my dad would have gotten along well. They probably would have ended up trading training secrets if they'd had a chance to talk."

"I'm almost glad they didn't," Pip said, turning around. "They probably would have devised some twisted training program for the three of us involving... I dunno. Survival training via airdropping us in the arctic."

There's pizza and sodas. Don't get too close to Alanna, she may be contagious.

Door's not feeling up to chokeholds today, but she's got a drink and a slice of pizza and is sitting off to the side watching the others intently.

Choking Sam's put him in a good mood. ;)

Of course now I'm picturing John and Sam as Homer and Bart Simpson....
