- This week's History classes will be held as usual, as we have procured a substitute.

- I am aware that many people will find accepting a person who looks like Angelus back into school. Please be aware that physical violence against Angel will not be tolerated, and will result in immediate expulsion from both the school and the island.

- Locker 327 is telling people they look pretty, oh so pretty. Do not believe it. Trust only your own mirror image.

- A reminder: classes only run Monday and Tuesday this week in order to honor the Thanksgiving holiday.

On the chalkboard, there's a hastily scrawled name "Mr. Dewey Finn." In front of the chalkboard is a disheveled man who looks like he probably had a few too many the night before.

"Hey, kids. I'm Mr. Finn. You can call me Mr. S -- don't ask why. Um, I'm supposed to be teaching you about, like, the past and stuff. Mr. Simian left some notes, but you know... boooooring."

Introduction to World History to 1600 (Terran)

"Your discussion question for today is, um..." Mr. S flips through a textbook idly. "AH! Bread and circuses. What do they refer to and why do they actually kind of suck? And, uh, can you think of any modern equi- equi- same stuff?"

East Asian History

"What would have been like to be a samurai? Wouldn't that have been awesome? To like, run around with a sword, splitting people in half for a futile society?"

Parker is very slightly hungover. Plus, she just heard the Dean's announcement.

This would not be a good time to mess with the library aide. She is wondering if Rory and Logan are awake, hoping they're not, and wishing she had her holy water handgun right now as she checks the card catalog for books on magical protection from vampires.

*There may be a spring in Ms. Sidle's step. There may not be. And it could be due to the excellent coffee she is sharing with the class.*

Good morning. I know this weekend wasn't the most pleasant some of us have ever had. If any of you would like to speak to me in private, we can do so. Also, please note that I am cancelling Wednesday's class for the Thanksgiving holidays.

Today, we will be discussing the processes of fossilization. I would like a brief report on this subject when you return next Monday.

The fossil record is imperfect. The fossil record is also our best window on the history of life on this planet. What happens when your best is less than ideal? You have to work that much harder to derive useful information. Consequently, paleontology, as with just about everything else associated with the sciences of evolutionary biology, is not easy to do.

There are a number of basic principles which go a long way toward understanding interpretation of the fossil record. One is to understand just how fossilization occurs. Another is to be familiar with the various strategies for dating fossils. Of course, it also helps if you are an expert on the anatomy of those parts of organisms which tend to fossilize. Obviously you will not be held responsible here for this latter consideration. The object of this lecture is to familiarize you with the concepts of fossils and fossilization.

To understand how it is that the history of life is thought to be understood, you have to understand fossils. In this lecture we will introduce the concept of fossilization, the dating of fossils, and dwell upon why it is that the fossil record is not perfect.

Krycek is sitting at Jerusalem's desk with a cup of coffee when the students arrive. He's managed to dig up the Professor's dry erase markers and has scrawled the assignment in block-print across the screen behind the desk.

Find an on-line source of headlines such as yahoo.com or msn.com.

Compare the listed headlines and skim the top five stories.

Comment on the differences or similarities and also on why those stories were the top five listed.

He appears to be doing the assignment as well, but distractedly, should anyone wish to interrupt.

"Hello.

This is our last class before the Thanksgiving break. I will see you all again on November 28.

Classics: Review lessons one through seven in the Greek textbook and do the exercises at the end of each chapter in preparation for a quiz next Monday.

Languages of Asia: Watch this video on Japanese greetings. Practice greeting each other in the language."

[OOC: I'm not getting comment notifications. If you need to talk to Dream, send an email.]

Ash stands in front of the class, sadly fez-less. He looks very, very tired. And he appears to be wearing the same outfit he was wearing in studio on Thursday, only heavily stained and wrinkled. He raises a hand and begins to lecture.

"Today, we will be discussing..."

He crumples to the floor, and begins snoring. Loudly. Very, Very loudly.

[The Doctor looks slightly on edge today. When the students arrive, he is pacing back and forth in front of the classroom.]

Because of the short week, I'm going to do something incredibly stupid today. Each of you can ask me two questions. One must be about something to do with this class. The other can be anything you want. I'll tell you about myself, but I refuse to grant you information that isn't public knowledge about anyone else. Understood?

Oh. And if you didn't come to my office hours Friday to discuss your final projects--thank you to Jack, Ms Belmont, and Lady Jessica for doing so, Sam's excused--I expect an email tonight telling me why not.

Let's go.

The doors to the study hall have been unlocked, and Dream sits inside.

He is piping in Christmas carols in an effort to continue the principal's early manifestation of the holiday spirit.

Grissom enters the lab in a frighteningly jovial mood. He tells both classes that classes on Wednesday and Thursday will not be held because of the holiday, but he will be holding an open lab tomorrow and there will be pie if you have any questions for him.

Criminology

Welcome to class, everyone.

I'd like you to choose one gun-related bill before Congress and share whether you oppose it, or believe it should be passed.

Death and Dying

Lecture on the Concentration Camps of the (Anglo-)Boer War, 1899-1902 (obviously disturbing)

I would like your reactions to Britian, an American ally and a nation that would fight the Nazis only 40 years later, running these type of camps in South Africa.

Enjoy your holiday, I will see you all next Monday.
[OOC: No comment notifications really, like everyone else. Feel free to e-mail me if you want my quick attention, or I'll be refreshing the page every 30 minutes or so. I'm around.]

Welcome to this weeks Fencing Club. You should be well familiar with the drill by now; weapons to the right protective gear to the left. I should hope that some of the members were able to attend the swordfighting demonstrations at the Renaissance Faire this weekend whilst I was off giraffe wrangling and my have drawn some inspiration from that.

[OOC: Mun will be out until late. Go ahead and attack each other without me.]

Even with classes being cut short this week, Shep feels like he should probably let the profs know he's not exactly taking an extended vacation. So he sends emails from the hospital...

There's a sign on the door.

"As both Liz and I are ill, and Rory's been hurt...I'm cancelling tonight's meeting---unless someone else wants to run it.

Happy Thanksgiving you guys and please...stay safe.

Paige opens Slartibartfast's classroom and sits at his deck, it was her first time actively being a TA and she wasn't totally sure what to do.

She stood up

"So erm this weeks topic is travel, I couldn't find any essays so I'm guessing we've not done any, so erm shall we just discuss it then?" she suggests

Camulus is looking all distract-y today as he paces back and forth in front of the class.

"First of all, I've been asked by the administration to talk to you about the ongoing Angelus drama current situation. I'm sure you all know what I'm referring to. One body, two persons. One evil, one good, boiling it down to base terms. It's not so difficult a concept." He stops pacing in the exact middle of the class and faces them. "Practical example and one easily demonstrated. Myself." He bows his head a moment and when he raises it again his eyes aren't quite glowy and he actually looks slightly panicky. He opens his mouth and a tumble of ancient Gaelic comes out in a completely normal voice. If one would understand, he almost seemed to be begging for help. Camulus bows his head again and when he raises it, his eyes flash and the deep echo is back in his voice. "Like that. One body, two persons. One evil, one good."

"Now. Presentations. Only Mr. Solo presented on Friday. If you do not present today, you will receive detention. Otherwise, we'll be beginning our study of the Tain Bo Culaigne with The Exile of the Sons of Usnech, one of the preliminary stories, which you will need to read for next class."
[identity profile] the-ascended.livejournal.com
At the front of the classroom, Daniel is sitting, well wrapped up and his hands clutching a mug of something.

On the board behind him is written:

"No classes today as I've lost my voice. Hand in your projects/essays and you may go after you tell me what one thing you're most thankful for this year.

For me, it's having a second chance at something I'd thought I'd lost.

Remember - if you DO NOT hand your midterm in, it's detention."
[identity profile] brambless.livejournal.com
"Angelus is gone," Tara informs the class solemnly. "Now, I know you've all heard the 'evil soul' excuse before, and that you're sick and tired of it. I am too. It would be nice if you could just trust that each person had only one face. However, with the number of unrelated identical twins running around the place, that was never going to happen, so let's all just let it go and deal with what is. Angelus is gone, and Angel is here.

"Most of you know that Angelus and I are Sunnydale expatriots. I assure you that I am in a better position than almost anyone you can think of to guarantee that he and Angel are very, very different people.

"With that in mind, today's discussion is about punishment for crimes done - and I say with that in mind, because if Angel does have the courage to walk through that door today, I will not tolerate anyone accusing him of crimes that were committed through his mouth and hands, but without his knowledge or consent. Please think of him as an unrelated identical twin, as different as Archie and Lee, or Cameron and John Crichton."
