There were yet more handouts, this week. Also a table covered in what looked suspiciously like props.

"Good morning, class," Bond began when they'd finished arriving. Don't be silly. )

Pinkie had spent ages today decorating the classroom to get the mood just right. There were fancy banners with stylized unicorn heads on the walls, golden columns topped with decorative hearts in the corners, and even a giant ice sculpture of a swan next to the door.

Pinkie herself was similarly decked out, wearing the dress Rarity had made her for the Grand Galloping Gala, and looking absolutely delighted to be there.

Because, well, one of the teachers should be, right?

And Derek, on the other hand, was just wearing a suit and tie for the occasion. No, he wasn't smiling. Don't get your hopes up, Pinkie Pie. His contribution to the decorations came in the form of nothing exploding glitter on the class. So. You're welcome, kids.

"Today you're learning about formalwear." Aaaaaaaaand, Derek?

That's alright, Derek, Pinkie was practically vibrating in anticipation and would gladly take up the explaining. "And haute couture!" she gleed. "Which is the fancy-pants way of saying an outfit is handmade and really fancy-pants!"

That was the technical definition, kids. I hope you're taking notes. Detailed notes.

Derek sighed, not about to correct the terminology. Because that meant more time talking to students than strictly necessary. "Suits for men, dresses for women. Sometimes suits for women. Just watch a red carpet sometime if you want to see more examples."

"And sometimes dresses for men, too," Pinkie noted, because hey, let's not leave anyone out here, Derek! "Like that purple sparkly one I found for you that would have really shown off your cheekbones."

Why did Derek submit himself to this class every week? Oh right. Because his life was pain. "I have a suit," he ground out. "I'm not wearing a dress."

No matter how flattering it looked with his shoulder to waist ratio.

"You're such a party pooper," Pinkie said, somehow managing to make it sound both sad and fond at the same time. "Anyway, kids, it's time to get your swank on!" Wait, their what? "We've got lots of dresses and suits of all sorts for everypony! Feel free to mix and match. That's where the real fashion comes from."

If the Danger Shop today smelled like popcorn and spilled soda that was because Josh had decided to take you all to the movies!

If you were afraid, it was because you were very, very smart.

"All you want to do is go to the theater, plonk down your forty bucks and see a movie while drinking a vat of soda and swimming in a small pool of popcorn," Josh said, "as is what I'm pretty sure is your Constitutional right."

It wasn't.

"But then other people have to come to the theater too and ruin everything. Your task today: get yourself a snack and sit through the previews and a movie without killing anyone nearby. It's gonna be harder than it sounds."

Library, Thursday

It was actually a nice, quiet day at the library today. The books weren't up to their usual shenanigans, unless the lot of them heaping themselves up in a pile and... Evan was pretty sure they were napping, actually... unless that counted.

He had made himself comfortable behind his desk, reading a book about Egyptian pharaohs and nodding a little to himself. Now and again, he'd get up to put away a book or two that somebody had returned.

But mostly, it was a nice, quiet day.

There were probably two unexpected things when class started today. First was that a kid was in the back of the Danger Shop, referring to his #SuperheroPowerRankings. Second was that the second class started, Batman turned into a very different superhero.

"Egads! What's going on here?" The Tick asked. "Well, at least this looks familiar. This looks like the Danger Shop and that would mean I'm either dreaming about teaching at Fandom High, or I'm actually doing it!"

"You're actually doing it!" Patrick shouted from the back.

"Thanks, chum! And the fact that I'm not in my underwear would seem to back your claims up," The Tick said. "Now, what class is this?"

"Care and feeding of sidekicks!" Patrick shouted out.

"Well, you're very informative," The Tick said. "Okay. Well, assembled students, I am THE TICK! And I know a thing or a million about sidekicks. A sidekick is like your shadow. Technically speaking, you don't really need one. It's not like your shadow holds your soul or controls your actions. It's just there, telling you how bright the sun is shining and from what direction. Sure, local children might be able to grab some shade in it, so it does provide a service to the community, but you could do that with a bake sale or by picking up litter!"

"No, just like your shadow, the true value of a sidekick is comfort. If your shadow disappeared, things would seem PRETTY WEIRD!" The Tick said. "Just like when you're smacking together the heads of a nefarious assemblage of evil-doing nogoodniks, missing even one of them would leave you feeling all shivery and gross! But your sidekick can lend a hand, or, since we're talking about kicking, a foot! And with that Mighty Foot of Partnership, there will be no stragglers!"

"Also like a shadow, your sidekick will ideally follow you around without question and entertain people with puppet shows," The Tick added. "But you have to treat them right in order for any of this to happen. And the first, most important step to that?"

"Don't compare them to shadows. They'll take that personally. Nobody tell Arthur, okay?" The Tick requested. "Now, does anyone have any questions? Or - and this is important - does anyone know what on Earth I'm doing here?"
