They were in the classroom today and Genesis had, as was his norm, gotten there first. Let it not be said, after all, that Genesis did not keep his promises.

On the desk lay an extravagant bouquet of moth orchids, and enough truly expensive beadwork, jewels, pearls, ribbon, to quite firmly nudge the whole thing over the realm of normal and into the land of ridiculous. An embossed card simply read ‘Reno’ on it.

Genesis was smugly pleased with himself, though he did not look it, gazing out over the class with cool eyes.

Reno was giving the bouquet the most baffled stare that he could manage. Something like that had to cost more than triple what he made in a year, as a teacher or as a Turk. And Turks got paid, and paid well. Served him right for telling Genesis that he demanded flowers for a dance, last class.

“Yo, rookies?” Yeah, Reno was a smidgen distracted today. The hell, flowers. “Today, we’re gonna be makin’ you all put them powers of cooperation that we’ve been makin’ you work on to use.”

Genesis leaned back in his chair and smiled. “You’ve all been paired up,” with one group of three, “and between now and next week, you’re to go in your group to at least one business in town, and sing for whomever is working that day.” He had no such distractions to keep him from teaching, after all.

“Consider this an exercise in working together in a situation that may be considered unpleasant,” he added, “and remember that your teachers, too, will be doing it.”

At least Genesis had a fabulous voice.

And Reno hated him all the more for it. Damn you, Gackt.

“Get to it, Rookies,” he sighed, waving a hand at the group as a whole. “And if anyone wants to give me a hand with this damn thing after class, I’ll give ‘em a flower or somethin’. There ain’t no way I’m gonna be able to carry all these as far as my office, yo.”

Genesis smirked.

[Wait for the OCD is uuuup!]

Once again there were no images on the board for today’s lecture. You could thank John for that one, kids. The poor man could simply not handle Sherlock’s blase attitude toward the subject matter.

Yes, this class is Nathan's forte )

There were no misbehaving books on wildlife anywhere to be seen, today. In fact, the library seemed to be on its best behaviour.

William had been here long enough that that was somewhat of a cause for worry. Still, he wasn't one to look a gift horse in the mouth, and was going to use that time to study.

Today the Danger Shop was a giant square room. It was a very boring room. The only thing worth noting about it was that one wall had a single door in it, while the wall across from that door had a dozen doors of its own. As to what the doors were for, well... Max wasn't telling at the moment.

"Sometimes powers help you in a fight directly. That's the case with projectiles, and often true for flight. But there are a number of powers that help you in more subtle or complex ways. Today we'll be discussing some of those powers."

"The ability to manipulate what other people see is quite broad, and equally useful. There are all sorts of powers that fall into this category: everything from invisibility to certain types of shape-shifting. While the details of each ability differ, for the purposes of this class we'll be looking at ways to consider them as similar. Ultimately, in a fight, these abilities are about misleading your opponent with the ultimate goal of surprising them. One of the most obvious ways to do that is to maintain full invisibility and hit them before they even know you're there."

But it's rarely that easy... )

"So, divide yourselves up and get to work. I'll let you know when five minutes are up and then you can get started."

It was no big surprise that Alexander spent a lot of time searching through the library, and, while he had still failed to find exactly what he was looking for, he did, on occasion, come up with a few unexpected gems. And one of those gems was something he definitely had to bring into the fraternity weekend that week.

It was the calendar from the fraternity almost two years ago, and it was certainly a relic of....well, something. Alexander wasn’t quite sure yet.

“We...don’t have enough people for every month like in 2008,” Alexander noted, because they had so many people they could even spare two for October!

“Well, no,” Zack mused, leaning over it and pursing his lips thoughtfully, “but we’re not all that bad to look at, right? We could have some group shots, or some of us doubling up, maybe?”

“I guess,” Alexander said, “that’s where everyone in the group comes in today.” He looked at the rest of the fraternity with a crooked smile. “Do you guys have any thoughts on trying to recreate something like this, to tie us to the tradition of KKG groups of the past? Or do you feel more like, in cases like this, the past should stay....in the past?”

“I totally have dibs on September,” Zack chimed in, because this calendar thing was awesome, okay, and he was now hell-bent on it. “September is a good month to model a swimsuit, right?”

This was going to be an interesting project, right here. Alexander was facepalming just about there, using it to rub his forehead for a second and think about claiming January for himself, so he could hopefully avoid shirtlessness himself. He shook his head. “So, yes, let us discuss, shall we? Over the usual pizza and soda, of course.”
