"I know that Blackagar and his friend covered lying when they took over during my absense," Anakin said with a little nod toward his TA, "but today I wished to revisit it with a Fandom slant. Here, where multiple timelines meet and mingle, lying can be a terribly complex subject."

He gazed around the room. "We have students here from different centuries who by stepping foot onto the island learn immediately about electricity, electronics and reality television. Depending on societies they arrive from, they could learn about guns--or even the very concept of war--and change their worlds irrevocably."

Anakin began pacing. "Sometimes the situation is even more specific. Several years ago, a student arrived here who I knew--but I knew him as a Jedi Master I'd met when I was a small child. I also knew that his death, at least in my timeline, had been a violent one. A teacher I had used to say that the future is constantly in motion, but my experience with multiple timelines seems to show that certain large events tend to stay constant. Did I have an obligation to tell this student about his future? Or do I respect his timeline and his ability to make his own decisions?"

He sat back down. "The questions today are these: if you have knowledge of the future, what parts would you lie about--even through omission--from someone further behind in the timeline? And if you met someone from your future, would you want to know anything about what you might face someday? Would you respect them for not telling you everything? Or even anything?"

There was an annoyed witchling standing at a table in the library. On the table in front of her were two different groups of books with shields around them.

Apparently, at some point, the Yoga books had staged an uprising, believing that they should be shelved with the Martial Arts books. The Martial Arts books did not agree with this and had taken to violently flinging the Yoga books off of their shelves.

After a few moments of shock from having walked into this, Cassidy had taken matters into her own hands and trapped them on opposite ends of the table with her shields.

"This is unacceptable behavior for books of any kind to indulge in. You had better start behaving or I promise I will shelve you all in the darkest corner I can find and mislabel your shelves so no one will ever look for you again." Both armies of books turned their covers to face Cassidy in what could only be their attempt at a menacing fashion. She lifted an eyebrow. "Don't even think about it. If I have to, I will cast cold spells on all of you." She smiled sweetly. "It won't do any damage to your covers, pages or ink, but it will certainly make you think twice before attempting to attack your caretakers ever again."

The library was open.

It looked like someone had finally found out about the Danger Shop and how to use it and the timing couldn't be more spot on! There was a sign on the classroom door, proclaiming that everyone grab a hat (of which there were few in a box before the door, too) and march on over to the danger shop. There, upon entering, the students would find themselves in a lush tropical rain forest.

Welcome to the jungle; we got fun and games. )

Perhaps. But considering Jane had completely forgotten that she'd assigned homework last week, she might forget about it next week, too. But could you really blame her? This Danger Shop thing was just incredible!

"Any questions? If not, go forth, and explore! Find those primate habitats and let's see what you can observe of them! Should you need anything, I'll stick here at camp, and try to keep out of trouble. We are here to observe; we mustn't disturb the natural habitats around us. Take only memories, and leave only footprints!"

There was no doubt that Ariel was definitely excited to have Glee Club start up again; you could see it not only in the spread of drinks and snacks she had ready, but the fact that she'd gotten there really early to get it all set up and play a little bit of piano to make sure it was in tune as if she knew how to actually tune a piano but she could tuna fish!. But, eventually, hopefully, people would start showing up and then she could get things started.

"Hi, everyone!" Ariel veritably bounced at them as she waved. "Welcome back to Glee Club, unless you're new, in which case, regular welcome! It's the first day back after the break, so all we're going to do today is a little bit of singing and a little bit of talking about what we'd like to do this semester. Do we want to do another performance? Should we maybe look into some competitions? Have a karaoke night at Caristas? Anything in particular you'd like to sing more of this semester? All that kind of stuff! But first!

"Singing! Just like last time, let's each introduce ourselves through song! Let everyone know who you are, why you're here, and then pick a song, any song at all, that you'd like to sing. It could tell something about you, or be your favorite song, or even just be the song you had stuck in your head when you woke up this morning. Anything you want! Who wants to go first?"

"Welcome back," Alex said. "Last week, we deal with some very specific offenders and their very specific offenses. This week, we're going to take a step back and look at the larger picture. We're going to try to use those experiences to form some general laws and make decisions about punishments, for those laws."

Crime and Punishment, Redux )

She smiled quickly at her students. "We have a lot to talk about this week. So let's get to it."

Today would not be a fun day in Hook's class. The class gathered in the Danger Shop as usual, where the ship looked not as clean as normal. In fact, the deck was filthy with stains of various colors, dirt and salt residue and things you probably didn't want to imagine.

The environment was also quite warm, with a simulated sun beating down upon the ship.

There were mops and buckets. One for every student in the class.

Hook stood in front of the Captain's cabin door, and gestured with his hook once the class was gathered.

"Life at sea is hard. Today, under the hot sun, you will all roll up your sleeves and swab the deck until it is spotless. This is again what we call an object lesson. You will learn the hardship of the sea first hand. And for refreshment, there is a barrel."

Hook gestured over at the barrel with his hook. "It is filled with biscuits called hardtack. They are nutritious, but I sadly will admit they are far from delicous, far from delicious indeed. You are alotted one biscuit for the class, and you must continue to swab until either the deck is clean or we are out of time."

He laughed. "If you manage to clean the whole deck, there will cake as a reward. Sadly, that is not part of the object lesson. It is merely extra motivation for you good students."

He patted the railing near him, since he couldn't clap. "Well, that's it, chop to it, there we go, there we go."

He eyed Jason and Zack for a moment, as if daring them to think of a way to mutiny this week.

Oh, look who'd decided to show up today. The Doctor was indeed present and accounted for and wearing a tuxedo. He even had a dashing white scarf draped over his shoulders. This didn't bode well for anyone not comfortable in formal attire.

"Hello! I promise I won't leave Cara in charge any more." That was really all that needed to be said about that. "Today we're going have a dinner party, which can be an adventure, can involve capers and often results in a much-needed escape when you find yourself suddenly engaged to be married and need to get out of there before you become Mr. Marilyn Monroe, because she couldn't be Mrs. The Doctor, because that sounds stupid.

There are change rooms over there with plenty of fancy clothes to dress up in. Try to get into the spirit of things. The better you dress to the occasion, the less likely you are to be noticed unless you want to be noticed." He always wanted to be noticed. Get dressed, enjoy your fake dinner and try not to turn this into one of those murder mystery nights. They're only fun when you're not the victim or the prime suspect. Okay, they're still fun when you're the prime suspect, but that's not programmed in today. The idea is to mingle. Get a feel for your surroundings. Act like you belong. Practice."

There was a hint of things to come if ever there was one.

"I'll be over by the nibblies!"
