Upon entering the Danger-Shop, the class found themselves standing outside a pair of turf covered houses by the sea.

"Welcome to Iceland," Bond said. "Which unlike the name suggests is actually quite pleasant, if cool, most of the year."

"Now, given that I expect many of you had something of a stressful weekend, we're going to spend the class settled back and listening to an Icelandic Saga."

Jaina had handwavily sent the students notice to come meet in the Danger Shop today, throwing off her entire mental schedule for the class but know what, she was just going to have to deal. Considering the room was done up to look like the interior of a Star Destroyer when they got there, she figured they would be okay with that.

"You ain't gonna win 'em all." Nope, there wasn't even a 'Yo, Rookies!' today as Reno made his way into the Danger Shop, only a couple of minutes late. There had been an important stop for coffee this morning, which he was now pausing to take a mouthful of as he settled in. Suck it up, kids. "You ain't. And, much as you all wanna think otherwise, you ain't all gonna be able to survive everything that life throws at you without a few bumps an' nicks along the way, yo."

This was Reno-ese for 'people get their idiot butts killed out there all the time.'

"I know, you all been spoiled by Fandom's practically nonexistent mortality rate. An' maybe you figure you're all invincible or some shit as a result, an' you can handle anything that you go up against. But news flash, kiddos: You ain't. And you can't. I don't care how strong you are. I don't care what superhuman abilities you got. Someday, you won't be able to out-run, out-think, or out-fight whatever it is that's comin' down on top of us. Someday, you will be thrust so friggin' hard on your ass that you will consider yourself lucky if someone shows up like a knight in shinin' armor to haul your sorry self outta there."

He smirked. He shrugged.

"So, we're gonna have a bit of a team-buildin' exercise, yo. Bit of a go against the Danger Shop, here. And I want you to all try an' tackle it without powers, to try an' keep things on an even playing field. You're each gonna break off into pairs. One of you's gonna play injured and pretty much useless, and you gotta get your ass rescued, yo. It's up to your partner to drag you outta harm's way." He nodded, and the Danger Shop flickered. And suddenly, everyone was standing on one end of a very shoddy looking suspension bridge. "Across this, zoto."

Really, he didn't even need to toss in enemy fire for this exercise. You guys would have an interesting enough time of this activity as it is.

It appeared as though Farnsworth was not planning to waste any time getting into today's lecture. He was clearly a man with something to say, which meant he had to say it quickly before he forgot it.

Paradox Theory of Theorums )

"So you'll find," said Farnsworth, "that the qualities of offspring compared to their parents' opinions can vary greatly, while, in almost all cases, infomerical products will inevitably fall under the Paradox. Let's take some time to discuss other things that might fit under the Paradox Theory, run it through, and see what we come up with, shall we?"

And, really, if not even on of them managed to bring Farnsworth's sanity up to the plate in some fashion, he'd be utterly disappointed in them. Even if they would be wrong, because Farnsworth certainly never made any claims to being sane.

[[ OCD, it is a coming is one thing that shall never be a paradox, except with the ending of the world. ]]

When the students filed into the classroom today, they would see another another list on the board today: Brief academic discussion of the life of Jesus and literary Christ figures to follow. )

"So, let's take a look at one of the most famous Christ figures in literary history--and believe me, there are a lot of them. But Hemingway's Santiago from Old Man and the Sea is one of the easier Christ figures to pick up on. Today, we'll be discussing the plot of the novel and see how many similarities we can see between Santiago and the list on the board."

Rinoa was oddly quiet as she opened the library. She'd had a messy still in massive, huge SP discussion with That Man, also known as her father, who had shown up here like he had some right after everything they'd been through. She wasn't sure how she felt about that.

The library was open, and Rinoa was distracting herself with busywork.

More accurately, they were at the back of one of the empty buildings along Godiva Street. "Hey, welcome back. This seemed like a good place to get some basic moves in. Most of the time you don't get a choice about what moves you do. You have to adapt to whatever's around you and go with that. But there are some things you're going to have to learn how to do if you're going to be up pretty high. Learn to fall, then when you can do that, learn to not fall. It's up to you where you think you are skill-wise. No one can tell you otherwise."

"Good to see you all survived the weekend and the, ah, parental invasion," Aly said with a bit of a grin as she surveyed the class. "I enjoyed speaking with your visitors and can promise I didn't give away too many of the school's secrets." She rolled her eyes a little at the idea of accidentally giving any secrets away at all.

"First up, let's have a chat about last week's topic - flirting and making friends. I asked you to try to use some of the techniques over the weekend as you met your friends' family and friends. If you did and you found them helpful, horrifically not, or something in the middle, let's hear how it worked out."
