The fact that they had power made this week's club meeting a lot more enjoyable than last week's. The fact that it wasn't spitting down enough snow to make Hoth jealous just made the meeting that much better.

Gavin was still bundled up but he was grinning as everyone filed in and helped themselves to the moddable snacks and drinks he'd picked up.

"Hey guys," he said once everyone had arrived. "We have power back which means we can get in some sim time today. Sorry about last week but there wasn't anything I could do short of powering the sim using a bicycle and my own energy and that wouldn't have lasted long in the cold."

Though, if he'd gotten desperate, Gavin might have tried it.

"Anyway, today we're gonna get right to it. We're gonna start off with the fighter aircraft and bombers an of this world since that's the world we're all living on right now. Of course, as most of us probably now, these planes fly in atmosphere so it's a little different for some of us that are used to flying in space. This planet hasn't made it there yet. But, I'm sure they're trying. I've set the sim up with both fighters and bombers so hop in and take a turn. There are going to be non aggressive targets so practice both using the bombs that the bombers come equipped with and the guns that the fighters are equipped with. The targets are going to be buildings that are going to be marked with red splashes of paints."

Gavin opened the sim's door and said, "Go to it."

Nathan started to pass around the class handouts. "Today we're going to talk about skills. Being a good leader means understanding what you can do, and what you can't. Some of these are basic skills: are you good with a weapon? Are you good at math? Can you play the saxophone? Others are what we call 'soft skills.' Are you good with people? Can you motivate a team? Can you communicate effectively?

"Since I assume you already know your basic skills, today I'd like you to discover your soft skills. Take the following test. There's no right or wrong answers, just what you feel is right for you. At the end you'll see what your strengths are. If you're comfortable with it, share with the class and let us know how you think these strengths apply to a position of leadership."

Sam was very glad to have power for his library shift this week, as much as he'd enjoyed finding...alternative ways to stay warm. He'd gotten up early enough to manage a stop for coffee on his way in, and was already halfway done with the cup by the time he got the doors open.

There was no Hammer today. Instead, a blonde woman in very little clothing with a whole lot of cleavage stood at the front of the classroom. Some may see similarities in the face to another blonde who seemed to be missing from class, but only if they were looking at her face. "Hello, friends. My name is She-Ra. Your teacher was unavailable today and asked me to speak with you in his stead about a topic very dear to my heart." Which she touched because it was the literal thing to do as she walked the floor before them.

"Diplomacy. The art of dealing with your nemesis when he is at his weakest. You've fought and won the battle but tell me, what now? Do you destroy your enemy when he has no ability to defend himself? Do you allow him to live out his life in jail, which he is likely to break out of given past attempts at incarceration? Or do you set him free, allowing your compassion and hope for a brighter future to set an example to him?" She paused allowing the students to consider the options she'd provided. "Is there another alternative? Let's discuss what you would do, as super heroes fighting super villains."

"Blood," said Mohinder in greeting to the assembled class.

"Approximately 10 pints or 7% of any one person and the workhorses of a complex system of circulation. Not just red, but a suspension of cell types in a plasma of mostly water with a scattering or proteins, hormones and ions as well as the three main types of blood cells," he said, handing out papers.

"Have any of you received a blood transfusion?" Mohinder asked the room, pausing briefly before continuing. "If you were as part of an operation your blood was probably typed earlier, while in emergencies people will be given the universal donor type. Blood has antigens which can attack each other - A, B, both or neither, O," and went on to describe them.

"As a result of this, and the possibility of blood borne disease transmission, blood is teated heavily, and only a restricted part of a population can donate," Mohinder said. "Try this questionnaire to see if you could donate blood. Would you? Is there a responsibility to donate if the person's blood type is rare? What about accepting payment?"
