Yomiko had noticed a certain trend around town on her way to work that morning, so when she got to the library she set to work kidproofing it. Because good Lord, they were everywhere.

In class there was a display of staffs, wooden swords, nun-chucks and small foam tipped kunai. There was also a two-year-old boy sitting at the edge of the display playing with plastic shuriken and kunai.

"Good morning everyone! This week we are moving onto weaponry in martial arts. Now none of these are what you would call ‘real’ weapons, but they can do damage just the same, so I urge caution." Yondaime explained as he moved backwards to bat his son’s hands away from the other weapons, earning him a rather petulant look.

"The fundamentals are the same as the other styles we've been learning and so there shouldn’t be much extra that I need to teach you. Adding a weapon to your fighting style is just adding an extra element, one that you need to remember more because it can hurt you just as easily as your opponent if you let it get away from you." He picked up a set of nun-chucks with a smirk. "These especially."

"For today’s class I’d like everyone to spend time individually with the different weapons, get used to the feel of them. Find out what moves are easier for you to make with them, and which are more difficult. At the end choose a favorite and tell me why." Yondaime walked back over to Karyuu who again was making for the big weapons and picked him up, balancing him on his hip. "If you have little ones, I have brought smaller, child safe weapons for them to play with if you wish," he explained going over and giving Karyuu a small plastic sword with a smile.

Monday, April 16, Period Two

A large projection screen decorates one wall of the classroom, and there's a nice assortment of pastries, muffins, popcorn and pretzels on the table in the center of the room.

"Good morning everyone. We were scheduled to have a test today, but I felt it was hardly fair to give you a test the week before finals. So instead, we'll be watching a film that's full of the classic fairy tale elements - The Ogre and the Ass and it always said that omg. You'll probably recognize some of them from the stories we've read, although you'll find they've been turned a bit on their side. Please remember that next week you'll be making your project presentations, so I'll be available in my office tomorrow, or after class today, for any questions."

[ooc: Anyone with kidlets is welcome to bring them to class, just please check with me OOC before telling Aziraphale exactly where they came from (so I can avoid contradicting some preplay). Please wait for OCD is up. Entertain me!]

There was a box of muffins in the back of the room - not as sugary as doughnuts, but tasty nonetheless.

Logan was pretty distracted seeming, but he smiled at everyone as they came in. "Hi, guys, and welcome to the last Media class for the term, since we don't have a final exam next week - you'll still have to come here next week, but make sure to bring something to do. Today though, your finals are due. This will be easy, since you've ideally done all your work before now, but if you haven't then you'll be challenged to come up with a really good excuse for why not.

"Turn in your signatures, and then I'm asking you write a brief paragraph on what you've learned from this class. After that, you're free to go. And thanks, sincerely, for being such a great class of students, especially since it was only the five of us. I've enjoyed our time together quite a bit."

[OOC: Mod muffins! And, yes, thank you - I love you guys. *sniffles*]

As the students came in they would find the usual spread of pastries and coffee, tea and other yummies. Wilson was leaning against the front of his desk, hugging a large stack of papers and wearing a slightly melancholy smile.

"Good morning, everyone. Today I'm going to finish handing back some papers I have from you guys and also a study packet I worked up to help you get ready for your final next week. The final will be held in the Danger Room and like your tests will be a practical application of what you've learned in class this semester."

Straightening, he moved through the class handing back work papers and as promised a packet full of copies of the notes he'd given in class over the past 13 class periods. When he was finished he went back to his desk and picked up his coffee.

"You have this class period to begin studying, you may work in groups boggle at kidlets or alone just realize I expect good scores out of you all on the finals. I wanted to let you all know that I've greatly enjoyed teaching this class this semester and it's been because of the wonderful participation from each and every one of you. Thank you guys and if I don't talk to you before then, have a wonderful summer."

The class meets in the Danger Shop today, and while Captain Liberty doesn't have any kids of her own to deal with, she's more than aware that some people might.

"So today, you have a practical. You are going to fight Electronimo," she says, and a little screen display shows him in all his blue-suited electronic glory. "He's had it with his HMO and has decided to use this giant ray gun to shoot the hospital and disrupt all of the machines. Essentially, he's holding a building full of sick people hostage, and you have to stop him. He's also got a couple of henchmen who are trying to keep him from being thwarted. You'll work with your partner to keep Electronimo from going zap and shorting out people's respirators and blah blah blah.

"And um, if you brought kids? We've got two choices. I set up a couple of rooms, totally separate from the hospital. One's totally normal. The other will have a little adventure. They won't get hurt, don't sue me.

"Finally, remember that next week's your final. You're going to be here again, working on your own, so I hope you learned something."

Rose sat at the edge of the desk, "We've tackled sports TV last week, now we go to police procedurals. It's one of the more popular formats in the telly today. If some of you are not familiar police procedurals, as the name indicate, isn't so much about the mystery of who the criminal is but the process by which the detectives go about in solving the crime. Procedurals started out in books and crossed medias into television but, actually, if we delve deeper into its origins could be traced to movies called semi-documentaries filmed during the second world war. Then by the early fifties Americans pioneered the first procedural series on radio -- Dragnet

"Americans may have cornered the market on popular procedural series; Crime Forensic Detectives and the many spin-offs of Crime and Justice come to mind but we Brits aren't that far behind in our side of the pond we had the Police and Prime Cracker. Both excellent procedurals and one series we shall be watching today -- Prime Cracker."

"Now, end of school's fast approaching and its time we talk about projects. Each of you will be presenting a report on what aspect of popular culture you think affects the culture you come from. Is it music? movies? books? or sports? I'd love to hear about your culture since we've tackled so much about this era's. All right? Everyone clear? Any questions and you're free to approach me."

*The Police is the meta name for The Cops and Prime Cracker for Prime Suspect

As the students entered the classroom, they found it was once again in the pilot ready room configuration. Minicomps, these resembling a portable reader, awaited each student on the small desks attached to each of the chairs. These were loaded with tactical information on each of the battles they had covered, and then some. In fact, it might have resembled something of a tactical encyclopedia. Honor stood at the front of the room reviewing one.

As the bell rang, she lowered the device and regarded the class. "Good afternoon, all, and welcome to your final." She gave a slight smile. "This is an open-book essay exam. The minicomps on your desks will provide you with all the information you need.

"Today, you'll be choosing one of the battles from the main menu -- one of the few that we studied -- and writing your own analysis of the tactics used. Once you've done that, I'd like you to rework the problem and provide your own plans. The minicomps will record both handwriting and drawing, so feel free to draw maps where appropriate.

"Afterwards," Honor continued, "please place the minicomps on the small table beside the door on your way out. Your grades will be posted outside my office door by the end of the week."

She leaned against the podium. "This has been an interesting class, and I hope you've learned a thing or two that will stay with you. I wish each one of you luck in whatever you do." Her smile slipped a bit lopsided, emphasized by the somewhat stiff nature of one side of her face. "And I'm sure that each of you will find a way to success.

"Now...good luck on the exam."

Returning her attention to her minicomp, Honor settled into a seat at the front of the room, and pulled up the latest newsfaxes from home.
