When the students come into the classroom, there's a little box of doughnuts in front of the class. "Go ahead and take one," Captain Liberty says. "It's cop food, but they're kind of like underflashy superheroes, too. Well, at least, the uncorrupted ones are. Anyway, hi. So just a little information about the fashion show next week. You don't have to show up to class on Tuesday next week, but you do have to show up with your costume to the auditiorium next Friday after classes. I will be checking attendance, and if you don't show up or participate, that's going to be a huge chunk out of your grade. I haven't done the math yet to find out how much, but it'll be a chunk. Also know that while you won't have to wear the costumes to class, you will be expected to wear them for a couple of practical exercises in the Danger Shop. Remember that when you're coming up with them. Any questions?"

After any questions had been asked, Captain Liberty continued, "So this week we're going to talk about how not to die like a punk. Punks don't die pretty. In fact, it's usually a quick and easy death and it's not really that heroic, so we'd like to avoid that. In fact, we'd like to avoid dying at all." She passes out a handout and says, "Read through that. Is there anything you'd like to add? Any questions? What would be the problems if you had to fight in an ordinary classroom and how would you deal with it?"

Anyone coming into class today will find that someone had gotten there early. That particular someone also barricaded off the majority of the classroom with a pile of desk and chairs.

That particular someone was also standing on top of the barricade with his trenchcoat billowing dramatically. (Actually it was just two dupes standing behind Jamie flapping the end of his trenchcoat)

"Makers of mischief and revolution!" Jamie called out to his fellow students. "Last weeks class was a sham! The monarchy was not the true power in this classroom!"

(Several dramatic gasps were heard. Again from the dupes)

"I know! I know!" Jamie said waving his hands. "I was shocked too! The real dictator? The one taking our rights away? The one who assigns us homework?"

Jamie put a mock serious look and pointed dramatically at another certain someone. "She's right there. Alianne of Pirate's Swoop and the Copper Isles! Join me my brothers! Help me overthrow her from her position and demand the rights and privleges that we so deserve!"

Emma is wearing a green apron, a white shirt and jeans today. It's probably the most mundane attire she's worn so far. Students are free to boggle at the sight.

The gas stoves are back on the desks, along with a variety of ingredients and a collection of pots and pans.

"Good morning, students. Find your aprons, today we are cooking chicken!" Emma smiles. "You may boil your chicken or fry in in a pan. You cannot bake it as we have no stoves at the moment. You will also make at least two side dishes based on the ingredients on your table."

A thick folder called Chicken Cooking Tips is found on each table, along with a recipe book.

She pointed at a box on her desk. "Please place your scarves with your name attached on a note in this box, thank you."

As the students entered the Dangershop this week, they found themselves on a long, wooden pier. In the distance, at the end, a two large, white ships were docked, their steam stacks extending far toward the sky. More could be seen dotting the horizon beyond them, those ships blocked mostly from view. Seagulls swooped overhead, and beneath the pier, the sounds of water lapping against the stanchion posts could be heard.

"Okay, so who hasn't heard of the Titanic?" asked Daniel. "The RMS Titanic was an Olympic class passenger liner that collided with an iceberg and sank in 1912.

"On the night of April 14-15, 1912, the Titanic struck an iceberg and sank, with great loss of life. There are several figures regarding the number of passengers and crew who were lost. The United States Senate investigation reported that 1,517 people perished in the accident, while the British investigation has the number at 1,490.

"Regardless, the disaster ranks as one of the worst peacetime maritime disasters in history and by far the most famous. The Titanic's design used some of the most advanced technology available at the time and the ship was popularly believed to be "unsinkable." The media frenzy about the Titanic's famous victims, the legends about what happened on board the ship, the resulting changes to maritime law, and the discovery of the wreck in 1985 by a team led by Robert Ballard and Jean Louis Michel have made the Titanic persistently famous in the years since. The iceberg apparently bent plates located in the hull area, causing a massive dent to form letting the icy water rush in to the Titanic.

"Now, there was a film made about it, but as we don't have time to sit and watch it all, I have a summary here. With bunnies"

“Since I know writing thrills the pants off of all of you I’m sorry to say I decided to maybe try something a little different today. You made two characters last week and I want you to get to know them a little better. Today you’re going to choose one of them, partner up and act like they would in one of these situations. Your character can take any role in the situation. Choose which would fit them best I suppose. You can pick.” He hands out a sheet that reads:

Falsely accused of something
Driving to the zoo
Stuck in an elevator
Choosing a movie to see
Seeing the thing you most fear
Getting an outfit for a date

“Do whatever. Just don’t be too loud, got it? I want you to fill this out for homework as the character that you didn’t play today. I’m up here if you need me.” He proceeds to turn his attention to his laptop. He’s working towards an impending deadline as usual.

Homework )

The bell rang.
Do you think that Mr. Noblet was in the classroom when it did?
If so, you haven’t been paying attention these past few weeks, have you?

Blah blah blah... )

The box of lab coats is next to door of the danger shop and Abby is perched on a lab counter, flipping a DVD in the air. After checking the class over for a few minutes, she hopped off and started pacing.

"We've got a blood free class today and I hopefully that makes some of you happy. Today we're going to do two of the things that I hate doing. But that doesn't mean that you have to hate today's class. Maybe you'll love it. Maybe your new favorite class with be today's class on..." Abby walked over to the overhead projector and turned it on, illuminating a worksheet on toxicology. "...stomach contents!"

Abby launched into an extremely handwaved lecture on how to test stomach contents. "Also, you're going to pouring over security camera tape to find the bad guy. It's like looking for a needle in a black and white really grainy haystack. Not a favorite thing of mine to be doing, but if you're into that sort of thing you'll have a ball."

Opening the door to the crime scene, Abby moved to show the students the layout. Chad lay slumped in a chair at a very fancy table in a wealthy looking room. Chad's shirt had greyish looking vomit drying on it and the leftovers of dinner were still on the plates in front of him. "This is Chad. Poor dead Chad died before he finished his dinner. I wouldn't recommend nabbing anything off the plate though. You need to figure out how Chad died and who did it. You'll do that by using the skills we talked about in class earlier."

"Go get 'em!"
