Week 4: Home Economics: Period 1: Tuesday

Emma is wearing a green apron, a white shirt and jeans today. It's probably the most mundane attire she's worn so far. Students are free to boggle at the sight.

The gas stoves are back on the desks, along with a variety of ingredients and a collection of pots and pans.

"Good morning, students. Find your aprons, today we are cooking chicken!" Emma smiles. "You may boil your chicken or fry in in a pan. You cannot bake it as we have no stoves at the moment. You will also make at least two side dishes based on the ingredients on your table."

A thick folder called Chicken Cooking Tips is found on each table, along with a recipe book.

She pointed at a box on her desk. "Please place your scarves with your name attached on a note in this box, thank you."

It's pink and fuzzy and a work of cool creativity that really makes it unique.

"Hope you like it, Miss Frost." Annette replied as she shoved the wadded pink stuff in the box.

It's about five feet long, three inches wide, and more knots and tangles than anything else. But she did manage to tie cute little yarn bows into it to make up for any fuzzy ugliness.

John placed his knotted, multi colored, tacky, holey scarf in the box. Knitting really wasn't his thing.

Setsuna's scarf (of which she knitted two, one for giving away, one for class here) was simple and yellow. That was about it. Not overly long, not expertly done, just simple and yellow.

Alec's scarf was blue and the length a scarf should be. One end had obviously been where he'd started from, but it got better almost immediately and the rest of it was rather surprisingly well done.

Layla's scarf was green and fuzzy and about four feet long. There were some bumps and holes in the beginning, but it got better at the end.

Peter's scarf was pulled all out of proportion by threads that were too tight in places and far, far too loose in others. By the end, he'd just started trying to try knots to resemble some semblance of a scarf. It really, really didn't look like anything other than yarn though.

Aeryn's scarf looks a lot like a bunch of black and red yarn knotted up in parts and shoved into a baggie. There's also a knitting needle halfway through it, like Aeryn had tried and just failed miserably. "I broke it," she explains.

Dean's scarf was the required length and completed but definitely could be described as a first effort. Either that or moths had gotten to it and eaten random holes in it. Domestically he figured he should stick to cooking.

Jamie's scarf was about ten feet long. And an inch wide.

6's scarf is a tangle of dropped stitches. Incidentally, it's striped.

Cameron handed in a scarf or something that was supposed to look like it. If you squinted. Maybe.

Peter's scarf looked like a jumbled orange mess. And for some reason there was a sock knitted in there.

"I got it stuck in there and it won't come out." he explained before Emma could ask about it.

Pam's scarf was light purple and white, and just shy of forty inches long. It was very, very neat, though there were a few bumps through it.

Tyler turned in a skinny but long enough scarf knit of camouflage-striped yarn. There are only a few places where the yarn got away from him; most of his work is meticulous.

River had knitted a six feet long scarf. It mostly consisted of lime green woolly yarn, but also included different types of string, strips of newspaper and cut up plastic bags. River handed it to Emma, a big grin on her face.

Dawn's scarf was a very pretty multicolored blue, but it's definitely narrower for the first two inches of one end than it is for the rest of the scarf (which is about four feet long). It got bigger gradually, as if someone was accidentally picking up stitches where they didn't belong, but after a certain point, it stabilized.

Stark's scarf was blue and mostly looked like a scarf. Well, it mostly looked like a scarf made by someone who had almost no idea how to knit anything. Well, it was long and could theoretically be wrapped around a neck to keep said neck warm. It just was kind of lumpy and uneven, or maybe very lumpy and uneven.

Maia's scarf was green and red overall, more so green then anything. Flicks of red here and there with the word NARN near the bottom ends with red and green tassels underneath. It's very long but then it's made for one seriously tall alien.

Demyx's scarf looks more like he unravelled an entire ball of electric blue yarn and braided it into a thick, five-foot long rope.

Jim put his scarf in his box. It was a little long because the stitching wasn't as tight as it could or should have been, but that worked. It gave more space to breathe. It was a dark grey with random colored threads located wherever Jim impulsively decided to put them.
