When the Flight Club members get to the junkyard today, Aeryn's standing in front of an actual ship. Aeryn herself is still looking a little battered, but she's not addressing it at the moment. Just pay attention to the ship.

cut because i'm paranoid about sparing the flist )

[They're going to be out in the middle of nowhere. Seriously, you can't crash the ship. You can't damage it by pushing a wrong button. Which is good as that would get them stranded in space or vent the cabin or something and we're not playing that out, omg.
Also we are ignoring the last line in the Wiki. *nods*

Isabel is more then a little sleepy after being out late at Caritas and the rainy weather wasn't helping much at all. Still she made it to the library on time and opened it for the day.

"Duets!" Lorne shouts out enthusiastically once everyone has signed in. "Two people! Singing together! Making a song that normally be nifty be extra special!"

"Duets can take many forms. You can have two people sing a regular song and switch off during the verses and chorus and get together on the final refrain. Or you could have a song which is a type of conversation between the two singers, like "Baby it's cold outside", and finally you have the album series "Duets" with great singers like Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett who are getting old and so the record companies get younger more popular artists to sing with them in a fitting tribute, sometimes ignoring green skinned crooners who can sing better than any of them! BUT DO I GET AN INVITATION? Nooooooo!"

*cough*

"But I'm not bitter."

"So today kiddies, your job is to get together with a classmate and pick a song to sing with each other. If you're feeling shy? Feel free to ask your Uncle Lorne to sing with you."

ETA: "Oh one more thing kids! With Parents Weekend coming up I'm looking forward to meeting all your parents and inviting them to next week's recital! I'm sure they would be very happy to see you all sing."

Elliot looks a tiny bit devious as she waits for students today. "Hi, guys. We're still on natural selection, so I hope you at least pretended to read that chapter in your textbooks.

"I have a couple reminders before we start on the lab for today. First, remember, no class next week; you're going on a field trip with Ms. Frizzle next Thursday instead. And then the week after that is your midterm break. Which means you should have plenty of time to work on your midterm projects that are due November 7. Those should be a design for an experiment based on something we covered in class; if you want to enter the experiment in the school science fair in December, that would be extra awesome. Come see me after class or during my office hours if you have questions about any of this."

"As for today --" Elliot paused to hand out worksheets -- "You guys have five minutes to find all the poker chips you can around the room. When I call time, take your seats, and we'll spend the rest of class discussing both which chips were well-adapted to the classroom environment, and which students were the best hunters, then fill out the lab reports."

"That's it from me, so go for it and happy hunting."

[OOC: The room has white walls, a white acoustic ceiling, a tan tile floor, black lab tables and olive-drab plastic chairs. There are a few multicolored posters on the walls and a small, mostly full bookshelf in a corner of the room, and the rat cage is largely clear with some neon plastic appendages. You can mod the number of chips you find and where they were, within reason; Elliot didn't hide exactly 25 of each, so you don't need to worry about what your classmates found.]

"Good evening, class," Aly said primly. She was standing in front of the class, hands clasped behind her back and toes turned out. "Welcome to Lady Alianne's Cotillon. This is the the first in a series of classes designed to help polish off those rough edges and turn you into perfect ladies and gentlemen. Tonight, we shall focus on the details of elegant movement, that never-ending dance that allows one's figure to show to the best advantage at all times."

Aly grinned and fell into a more relaxed posture. "Or not. Today's we're talking about lying. Everyone does it, the key - at least as it relates to our topic is to be good at it.  And to be able to tell when other people are lying to you."

"As probably all of you know, there are plenty of tools - drugs, magic, technology, mental tricks to detect lies or conceal them, but for today, we're going to focus on simpler methods.  Observation, body language, the logic of how lies are constructed.  You're not always going to have an arsenal of fancy tricks at your disposal, and, going back to earlier classes, you need to be able to trust your instincts."

"I'm certain some of you have studied this before either in other classes or on your own."  She smirked.  "For educational purposes, only, I'm sure."

She gave them a series of handouts to review for a few minutes before gathering their attention once more.  "Any questions on the material?  Anything that you've been taught in the past and doesn't seem to fit in or make sense?"

"Right then, for today I've two activities for you.  One is a bit of a test to see if you can distinguish between real and faked facial expressions.  The other is a variation on the basic lying game.  Each person will tell two lies and a truth, and the class shall guess which is which."  Aly grinned.  "Let's see what tangled webs you weave when first you practice to deceive."

THE TEST

As the students come in to class they'll find that today's offering of yummies runs along the lines of various popcorns. From regular, to buttery, to caramel, to Moose Munch and there are sodas instead of coffee and tea. The room has also been altered just a bit to seat everyone closer together. Wilson is sitting in one of the chairs with a small plastic bowl full of buttery popcorn.

"Good afternoon, everyone ready for their test? Let's get right in to it then. Each of you will stand before the class for 5 minutes and do a routine. You can, tell jokes, you can act silly you can do whatever moves you that you feel will help you reach your audience and deliver humor to your classmates. I want to see an application of the philosophies and ideas you've learned in the past six classes. Everybody clear then? All right, let's get started."

[ooc: What? We have to do tests the same way every time? ;) Please wait for The OCDs are up! Come take your test!]

"If one wishes to create an image - to become an icon as well as a fighter of crime - one must work at such an endeavor."

V gestured to himself. "Many of you have expressed interest in my attire, my mask especially. It is an image of Guy Fawkes, who attempted to destroy Parliament. I designed my outerwear for practicality as well as style."

He indicated the papers and sketching pencils lying out. "I would like you all to design crime-fighting outfits. Then," V gestured to the stacks of cardboard, lengths of spandex and other fabrics, thread, needles, and safety pins, as well as glitter and other art supplies, "you may design a makeshift version of it to wear today in class."

As usual, Peter had gotten to the salle early to warm up a bit and start laying out the practice blades, pads, and towels.

"Evening, everyone," he said with a nod as the group assembled in the salle.  "Hopefully you're all having good weeks and no one is too worried about their family or friends arriving later in the week."  He grinned the grin of someone who didn't know yet what doom lay upon him.  "Zuko agreed to demonstrate today with his dual swords."  Peter bowed slightly to him.  "If anyone else wants to demonstrate in future weeks, do let me know."

"After the demonstration, do pair up and spar or work on some moves.  If some of the more experienced people could help the newer swordspeople, that would be brilliant."

"Good afternoon," Thursday greeted. "Light class today about Frankenstein. Long story short, Doctor Frankenstein created something he shouldn't have. For him and for his creation, there were consequences. For you today, there aren't."

She gestured to one side of the classroom where the entire wall was covered with thick paper. There were art supplies littered on a desk to the right. "Go and create something you know you shouldn't. Be as creative or perverse as you'd like. Use your imagination. Let loose. If something doesn't work for you, change it. Work as a group.

Don't forget next week is our field trip. That's October 24th. No class during the day, but meet here after classes. If there's a problem, see me as soon as possible. I'll send a message around to all of you later in the week with a list of what to bring and how to dress."

[OOC: Go here, enter a name, click Private Rooms and enter the room name 'fandomhigh'. You can then draw with other people. If you can coordinate by IM to have someone around to draw with, have fun with it. If not, feel free to scribble away on your own. Screencaps are welcome, but not necessary by any means! Enjoy! NB: If you leave the room, then rejoin, you will lose everything on the wall.]

Evie was jumping up and down, standing in front of the entrance to one of the sea caves, as much from excitement as a need to keep warm. She had her map, electric torch, mackintosh, several mining hats with lights on them, chalk, rope, and her notebook.

Time to find the Albatross!

"Should we split up, or stay together?" she asked. "I rather think we should stay together, but the cave does fork into two paths just beyond the entrance."
