OOC -- As I am an idiot apparently tonight, I posted in John's journal instead of the community.

"Everyone open your laptops and use your favorite browser to go to the Google website." Abby flashed the website up on the screen behind her. "Today we are going to learn about the guiltest of pleasures...googling yourself."

"Depending on how you do it, soooo dirty."

Abby gave a brief lecture on search engines in general and specifically the history of google. "Now googling has the potential to bring up a lot of porn on the most innocent of searches, so think twice about what you type in. To get us started you can feel free to google my name, see what you can bring up."

After they finished that activity, Abby pointed back up to the screen. "Now I want you guys to google yourself and see what's out there. If you want, you can try and google your classmates."

Josh was holding onto his coffee mug like a lifeline when the students arrived for the morning class.

He waited until they were seated, then cleared his throat. "We've covered the broad strokes of campaigning. Today we're gonna talk ethics." He raised an eyebrow and looked at Marty Clarence. "And yes, before you ask, there are ethics in politics. This is a matter of finding out where you stand. And some people stand a little more in the gray area than others."

Campaign Ethics: Not an oxymoron! )

Josh had gone through four cups of coffee since his first period class, so he was way more awake.

Not quite at Caf-Pow levels of crazed, though.

"As promised, today we have our first test of the semester," he said. "I'm sure you're all thrilled. If you're not, well, fake it."

Josh stood up from his desk and passed out test papers.

Oh, no! A test! )

Jesse doesn't look as dozy today. Anyone who'd been by his office during office hours earlier would know why.

Still with the feet on the desk, but he's actually awake and sipping his coffee while he watches everyone file in. On one of the front desks is a sign-in sheet, his standard handouts, and a stack of red books1 with a note that says "take one."

Once everyone is seated, Jesse drops his feet, holds up his own copy of "The Tao of Pooh," and opens at a bookmark to read )

Canceling a club meeting on it's very first night didn't seem like a good plan. So even though Blair didn't feel up to it, he was sitting on a desk in the computer lab.

"Okay, welcome to Damn the Man Club. I think we should start out by introducing ourselves and what who we think is The Man." Blair smiled and started. "I'm Blair Sandburg and I think The Man is a person or persons in power who value the power more than anything else and use it to keep the little people down."

He waited for everyone to finish and pointed to the whiteboard behind him. "This club is going to be focusing on educating people about The Man and then trying to fight against him with what we have available. Protests, petitions, sit-in's and boycotts are just the some of the ways we can make a difference. But I want to hear what ideas you guys have or any instances where you think we should step in and do something."

Vader swept into the room precisely on time, slamming the door hard enough to reverberate down the hallway. He dropped a box of cookies onto his desk.

"Today we talk about how a strict sense of right and wrong interferes in efficiency," he said, pacing the room and clearly intending to intimidate as many students as possible. "Employees who do not believe that there will be consequences for their incompetence become lazy, stupid, and easily replaceable."

Vader took the box of cookies from his desk and passed it around the room. "Each of you has a cookie," he said. "You will spend the rest of the class period using the tactics of fear, shame and guilt to get the other people in this classroom to give you their cookies." And yes, that word sounded incredibly strange coming from him. "Whoever has the most cookies at the end of the class will get to keep them."

He crossed his arms over his chest. "Are these tactics unethical? Does it matter if you get what you want?"

Today, as the students filed into the Danger Shop, they would find it set up as a large, desolate dirt plain with what appeared to be oddly shaped rock formations until closer examination proved them to be giant bones.

Janice was perched atop a half-buried skull, chomping on her cigar, but in unprecedented deference to her students' potential squeamishness, the long tables and chairs were set up for them in a clear space between a couple of massive femurs. 'Welcome to the giants' graveyard.' )
