Janet's yawning as she opens up the library today. Maybe she can just sit in one place and check in books for a few hours.

When the students enter the classroom, they will see Ms. Sidle sitting at her desk, propping her head up on one hand.

"As you can see, I'm really not feeling well today. We'll be watching an episode of Forensic Files. I want a two page report on today's episode by next Wednesday, which gives you plenty of time. No talking."
[identity profile] overlord-zordon.livejournal.com
The announcements come just after first period today. No, that is not Great Big Sea's "The Old Black Rum" playing in the background. No, Alpha 5 is not drunkenly reeling around going "Ay-yi-yi!" in the background. No, Zordon does not sound irritated, or for that matter jealous.

"Happy Saint Patrick's Day, students. This week's unwitting victim of my secret evil plan lottery winner is Cameron Mitchell, who will report to detention tomorrow morning."

No, no one heard bottles clinking against metal over the speakers. You're all just delusional. Robots can't drink.

"Alpha 5 reports that pachinko machines have appeared overnight in the dorm lobby and each of the common rooms. Enjoy them in moderation, please; the administration does not wish to have to change you all back from oversized pachinko balls because someone just wanted to have fun. That will be all. Thank you, and please remember that if the old black rum has a hold on you like a dog wrapped 'round your leg, you may wish to stop by the clinic and schedule an appointment with Doctor Pevensie."

[OOC: Forgot to add, today's pachinko machine phenomenon brought to you by [livejournal.com profile] bridge_carson, who wouldn't have left me alone until I brought it up anyway.]

Speech

301--3rd period

She's tan and relaxed and so very happy. She sat cross-legged on the table at the front of the room, munching on an apple...and there's a brown paper bag next to her.

"So you've gotten to slack off all week. That's too bad. No movie today. Today I want you to persuade me, using whatever means necessary, why I should cut you some slack and give you presents from Mexico."

The Danger Shop is set up to look like a somewhat quiet residential neighbourhood. There's a main street that has a traffic light at one of the intersections, and a few side streets. There isn't much other traffic, but a car will pass by here and there. A few pedestrians are also walking along the sidewalk.

"The object of today's class is to get from here," he waves at the general area around where everyone is standing, "to there." He points off into the distance, beyond the traffic lights. "As with last time, the shop will reset itself if anything life-threatening or major-injury-incurring starts to happen."

Today Camulus is not in his kilt. Instead, he's wearing dark green pants and a slightly lighter green dress shirt, rolled up at the elbows and unbuttoned a little at the top. The novelty tie Orlin had forced upon him was in the bottom drawer of the desk and would never see the light of day.

"La Feile Phadraig Sona dhuibh," Camulus begins class with. "Or La Feile Padraig, sometimes it left unlenited. Seeing as today is the infamous feast day of Saint Patrick, we'll leave our study of the Kings Cycle for a moment and look at this legendary religious figure, who appears in the Fenian Cycle and learns the history of the island from Caoilte mac Ronan and Oisin, son of Fionn mac Cumhall." He gives a short lecture on the life of St. Patrick, and then dims the lights for a movie.

"And for the rest of class you will be treated to the 1959 Disney movie Darby O'Gill and the Little People. The music and dancing is in no way authentically Irish, Sean Connery's accent is still very Scottish, but the leprechauns do speak Gaelige and some aspects of mythology manage to work itself in. Enjoy."

Jenny's in her office, but she's not working. She's playing on the internet and trying not to think about her date tonight.
[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com
Broots was oddly perky for someone who had to be awake by eight in the morning. "Good morning everyone! Hope you're all awake, and if not...coffee and donuts are by the sign in sheet. Fruit for those who don't like donuts. I'm sure you must exist.

Beginners, you guys will be doing a variation of the project Intermediate did last week. Either by yourself or in pairs you're going to draw out Pascal's triangle. Fifteen lines per person minimum please. Then, you'll choose a number from two to ten and you'll color in the numbers that are divisible by your chosen integer. Go crazy with the coloring, art supplies in the back. For the write up part, tell me why you chose your number - I felt like is a valid reason - and then describe the pattern you found.

Intermediate, you guys are going to be building roller coasters today." He paused. "Well, at least planning them. First off, at the computer terminals, you get to play around with this little toy and try to get the car to get to the other side. I'd like two different designs from each person, but feel free to bug your neighbor about what you think will work or not. Then, you get to design another roller coaster with this toy. Again, two designs, make them both fun and safe. And lastly, tell me if you would be interested in actually building a roller coaster in class or not. Okay, have at it!

Oh, and Susan and Logan? I need to speak to you at the end of class? Thank you."

Rita was clad from head to toe in bright green, a sweet smile playing on her lips.

"Good morning. Today, I'd just like you to turn in your midterm work, and tell us all what you researched."

She smiled expectantly, and pointed at a bowl of golden coins on the desk.

She smiled. "And these coins are yours, if you'd like. Yes, they're gold. Leprechaun gold. Happy St. Patrick's Day."

[Take the gold! It'll disappear in a few hours. And, actual work on the midterm - handwavey is good. But make up something to tell the class, pwease?]
[identity profile] imanaturalblond.livejournal.com
Rita was still wearing bright green, and had a bowl of shiny, large coins on her desk.

"Afternoon. Today we're going to talk about the most basic journalistic factor: questions.

This week, I would like you to investigate something you find interesting on campus, and come back on Wednesday with simply the questions of who, what, where, when and why answered."

She smiled. "And these coins are yours, if you'd like. Yes, they're gold. Leprechaun gold. Happy St. Patrick's Day."

[Take the gold! It'll disappear in a few hours. :)]

Zoe smiles as she greets the Student Council members during lunch. "Good afternoon," she says. "I trust you all had a good break wherever your travels may have taken you, and it's good to see you back here. Shall we get started?"

Once again, Zhaan was carefully attired. This time in pale blue and tweed. The bunny slippers, however, were still on her feet.

"Good afternoon." She cast a glance around the class and smiled, "Thank you all for I hope bringing your plants with you, as requested. I trust you spoke with them, during the intervening day.

"There are many sides of thought regarding interaction with growing plants. Some--those rooted in logic--claim it does nothing save waste your own energy. Others believe that it causes the plants to flourish, while others hypothesize that the nature of emotion, the words, even the exact way phrases are said cause minute changes in a plant's physical structure." She paused, and absently made a note before continuing, "There is scientific proof that sound waves cause changes in every physical structure--mostly at the microscopic level. And, even humans are affected by sound. Loud ones, soft ones--is it an angry sound or a happy sound, these influence how the human body reacts. The same can be said of plants."

Dropping the lecturing tone, Zhaan tilted her head, "Your assignment for the next week is to continue as you've begun: care for your plant."

Wriggling her toes in her slippers, she smiled. "Any questions?"

[eek. sorry for lateness. OCD threads in a moment up.]

There are paints, markers, glitter, canvas drop-sheets, flats, and the like set out in the class-room.

"Afternoon, kids, Miss Gilmore *handwavey* asked me to help with set dressing for tomorrow night's play. And by me I mean you. Have fun."
