[OOC: Tick's had issues recently. He's managed to keep it out of class until now. *ahem* And there's no way I'm doing class replies at work today. No. Way. Oh, hey! It's Class #25! In comic books, the 25th issue is a bit of a milestone that generally gets celebrated with something dramatic. Funny how that works out. Class Info Link.]

*The Tick is seated at his desk with a blank expression. It may be clear that he has a lot on his mind. Lockheed is staring at him, apparently concerned.*

"Hello, students. Next week is busy. Your final exam will be next Thursday. Tuesday is our Round Table Discussion with my chums from The City."

"Today's class is about Destiny. If there really is no such thing, then just what the heck is going on? If a crimefighter fights crime because Destiny told him to but it doesn't exist, then what is he doing? Is the crime being fought? Is it even crime? Is the crimefighter committing crime himself by punching the apparent criminals in the face and thwarting what may apparently not be their Evil Schemes?"

"And if Destiny made him a teacher, is he actually teaching? Are you his students? Where did my grade book go? Did it ever actually exist? WHERE DO WE GET THESE ANSWERS, MAN? I'd check the back of the book, but I'm not sure this is even it!"

With that, The Tick's antennae twitched slightly and he was silent for the rest of class. He'll probably be relatively fine by the pageant tonight. At the very least, he should be functioning.

If Tick were in his right mind at the moment, he would request that his students discuss amongst themselves. He would also request that Jack makes sure to hand his assignment in to Rory by Tuesday.

Greetings, everyone. Certain supplies haven't been delivered to me, so we will have our final lab next Tuesday.

Sign the roll sheet for bonus points. You may leave.

[ooc: Mun has been attacked by final classes. Apologies.]

As the students enter the classroom, They'll see and outdoor setting with multiple carts (the size of a Cooper mini) standing in front of a river.

The fact that the river is a mauve color should not be questioned.

"Today's assignment is to build a bridge or transport that will allow you to take the cart over from this side of the river to the other. There are various types of natural materials available around you and any tools you need will be made available."

All Classes: Use this time to work on your final projects. You may use the books and computer terminals in the room, or go to the library.

I expect a topic and a presentation date by the end of class.

ETA: CLASS IS NOW CLOSED.

"Okay, guys, given that everyone and their brother has RL issues this week we've gone over your proposals and your tasks, why don't you all sign in, and then take this period to go and start your projects? I'll be around if you have any questions. Oh, and be sure to let people know you're working on a project for your psych class before you start your experiment, okay?"

OOC: RL is a killer today. Yesterday's class is still open for commenting. Both of these will be open until next Tuesday.

Please drop links for anyone you get to do a task for your class project into the OCD comment threads that will be going up shortly are up!

Spider is in the classroom, although all that can be seen of him is a somewhat bedraggled Santa hat, with a sprig of mistletoe affixed to it. From the shape of the hat it is obvious that there is an icepack within.

On the screen behind his desk, thankfully muted, there is the following message.

Write me 100 words on Anarchy and why it's an excellent theory but suffers in practice.

Quietly.

Also? Extra-credit for anyone who can turn in 100 words on where I was last night after my fourth drink and why there's glitter in my under drawers and a freshly dead fish in my jacket pocket. Thank you.

((OOC: Feel free to amuse yourself with where he was last night. He really has no idea and is, in any case, not inclined to take any answers all that seriously.))

Dewey is listening to Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves. He is rockin' out.

East Asian History

"Um, yeah. They used to eat people in Papau New Guinea or some crap like that. Peter Jackson totally made an awesome alle- alle- fictional film about it called Bad Taste with aliens instead of natives. We will watch that film today."

History of the Ancient World

"Please turn in your bitchin' reports on Greeky myth. Or, like... I get to give detention, right?"
[identity profile] drgrissom.livejournal.com
Grissom enters the classroom after every one is seated. He pulls out a video cassette from his briefcase and walks back into the hall for a moment, wheeling in a TV cart.

"Welcome everyone. Today we will start our last unit, in which we explore the idea of the mythology of criminal behavior. First, we'll explore sexy lady criminals how gender can play a part in this process."

Grissom then puts in a film for the class to watch. It is a selection of girl in prison films Blind Spot: Murder by Women.

"Now that you've seen naughty, naked ladies all chained up being very, very bad a little bit of the reality of what imprisonment is really like for female criminals, does it change your feelings in regards to the sensual possibilities of a jumpsuit some of the famous female criminals that you may be acquainted with? Why do you think our societies create legends around Lizzie Borden and Elizabeth Bathory? Does it have to do with gender, or not? Is there one case you find particularly fascinating? If so, why?"

[Okay, yeah, I'm in a subtext day kind of mood. Play any question you'd like, seriously or not. *g* And don't forget to drop me a note about your grade(s). Thanks!]

Camulus is leaning back in his chair and is looking slightly tired, as if he hadn't gotten a good night's regeneration in a technologically advance sarcophagus for the last few days.

"My apologies for the lack of class on Tuesday," he says when the class is assembled. "I trust you used the time to work on your class project. Speaking of which, this is the part where I say, "It's due!" and you all get those hilarious panicked looks on your faces." He pauses. "Which won't happen until next Thursday. Yes, I'm giving you an extension. But that just means that I'll be marking a bit harder and making it worth more in the course. I'm also working on getting the Danger Room Shop for our use that day."

"So, now that is out of the way, on to the lesson. We read in Malory that Arthur was borne away to Avalon, and the actual physical fact of his death is very ambiguous. There are many, many versions of the legend which maintain that Arthur never dies, but instead sleeps in a form of suspended animation in Avalon until he is needed again." He frowns. "I get the feeling we've discussed this before. Old lady memory." He reaches into a desk drawer and flips through some notes, frowning. "Ah, yes. We've talked about the ressurection of the legend when it is needed most. Take, for example, Malory's text, written around the 1170s unless the mun also has old lady memory, in which case she is too lazy to get up and check. The Norman invasion of England in 1066, which is also the year that the last king of the Vikings was killed and the Vikings ceased to be a dominant power in Europe, was a period of major upheaval in England. It signalled the shift from a Germanic language and tradition to a more Romantic one - Romantic as in French and Latin, not Romantic as in turgid, heaving, and tumescence." He smirks, almost to himself. "I wonder if it was the latter I would attract more students . . ." He shakes his head slightly, as if bringing himself back to the point. "The literary ressurection of Arthur in this case was to unite a fractured England. It might be compared to legends of Robin Hood, which generally resurge when the need for a hero, even only one in tales, is necessary. There are two other major figures of Western European history and legend that have, similar to Arthur, their own myths that they will return to life when the crisis is greatest which was in no way the plot of the mun's NaNo." He lifts an eyebrow. "Any thoughts, people?"

"Oh, and Miss Halliwell, I would like to speak with you after class."

Ash hands everyone who walks into studio today a sausage inna bun. His shoes smell faintly of burnt rubber. Perhaps Ash may have had a strange and whimsical trip through locker 327. And found someone selling Sausages. Inna bun. Which he bought. All of them.

Today, there are freshly baked sugar and gingerbread cookies laying out. There are various colored frostings as well. The chalkboard reads:

"Merry Holidays, kids. Decorate a cookie or two, and take them home with you."

"Good morning, ladies. Before we start the class: Thomasina Coverley has detention this weekend for missing three classes.

Now, today we're going to discuss the Trojan War.

I'm sure most of you have heard about the Trojan horse, so instead of discussing that in class, I'd like for you to look at it a bit further for homework.

Tuesday's homework goes on my desk, and I hope you have a good weekend."

A note on the board of the philosophy classroom reads:

I'm not feeling well today. Please go to the library, pick a philosopher you find interesting, and prepare a report for next week's class. Anyone we have not already covered is acceptable. I suggest Kant, Nietzche or Satre as good places to start, if you're lost for an idea.
