The students would have been advised to dress warmly again, because what better time to look into all sorts of winter sports than in the middle of winter, anyway? And there would be another trip through portalocity again, too, because why stick with the danger shop when there were lots of places out there in the world to learn about this sort of stuff and your instructor believed firmly in the educational value of actual bumps and bruises?

So welcome to the LeFrak Center in Brooklyn, everyone! And if you didn't pick up on what you were learning about today, well, don't worry, Gladio was going to get right into it, with his usual grin and eagerness to get started.

"Hey, guys," he said. "Today, we're learning ice skating, so let's take a moment to get everyone set up with some skates, and then, again, I'm having someone better trained than I am to teach you all the details. If you're new to skating, we've got someone to go over the basics, and if you kind of already know your thing, I got someone to teach you some more intermediate stuff, and if you're already past that? Well, good time to help out your classmates, then, right?"

He flashed them another grin and then nodded.

"Alright, let's get started, and when the lessons are done, we can just enjoy a little free skating here in this great park while we're here. And just keep in mind: this is actually going to be pretty helpful for what we'll be doing next week."

He was pretty sure it didn't take a big leap in logic to predict how, but guess they'll all find out next week!

The classroom looked a lot like Cara and Jane had raided Ghanima's stash of cushions (they were not admitting to anything), with extremely comfortable looking pillows and throws over every available surface, and the drapes drawn low.

There might even be some snuggies from that one day back in December for people to grab.

"Napping," Jane began. "Because the older you get, the more you realize how nice regular naptimes were."

"Especially on days when you'd rather not have left your bed to begin with." Leroy.

"So. Napping." Jane patted on of the pillows like that explained everything.

"I thought it might be a good idea to tell you guys a little bit more about germs this week," Don told his students, and did not mention he thought that because some of them predated germ theory. "For centuries, the prevailing theory, in the West, at least, was that miasma, or something bad in the air, caused disease, although in different times and places you saw people starting to see the holes in that theory via observation and logic--noticing how disease could pass directly from person to person, usually.

"In 1674 a Dutchman named Anton van Leeuwenhoek designed and built his own microscope, a device capable of magnifying our vision of something by many, many times, and observed the first single-celled organisms in a drop of water from a pond. Over the next couple of centuries, scientists learned more and more about microbiology, and by the late eighteen hundreds what they had learned solidified into germ theory: transmissible diseases are caused by 'germs,' these microscopic organisms that invade the human body and have to be fought off by the immune system. Most germs are either bacteria or viruses, and for our purposes what you need to know is that you can fight a bacterial infection with antibiotics, but not a viral one.

"This week we have a microscope with a slide featuring a droplet of pond water, just like the one Anton van Leeuwenhoek would have observed back in the day." Although this one was from Fandom's pond, so Don had taken a quick peek through the viewfinder before class to make sure there wasn't anything really weird in there. "I'd like everyone to come up and take a look, and see just how much is going on under the surface."

The library was a perfectly reasonable temperature today. Belle was thrilled about this. No need for several layers and there were no tiny swimming pools in sight.

There was, however, a group of gremlins playing cards at several tables that seemed to have been hastily covered in green felt.

If it was casino night (during the day) nobody had bothered to inform Belle!

She turned down an offer to join a game of blackjack and settled in at the desk to keep an eye on the proceedings.
