Library, Thursday 1/23
The library was a perfectly reasonable temperature today. Belle was thrilled about this. No need for several layers and there were no tiny swimming pools in sight.
There was, however, a group of gremlins playing cards at several tables that seemed to have been hastily covered in green felt.
If it was casino night (during the day) nobody had bothered to inform Belle!
She turned down an offer to join a game of blackjack and settled in at the desk to keep an eye on the proceedings.

Talk to Belle
Re: Talk to Belle
"Lovely Lady Librarian Belle," he greeted. "How fares the fair Bastion of Books this week?"
Re: Talk to Belle
"We have a cadre of card-playing cads," she said with a smile and nod in the direction of the gremlins. "But they've yet to cause consternation or calamity. How is my favorite knight?"
Re: Talk to Belle
"Well, if they do cause any trouble," he informed her valiantly, "I'm sure I can show them how to really shuffle a deck! Only the finest manner will suit this situation!"
He beamed at her then as he added, "And I'm good! Feeling a little restless, and so I figured I'd come see you here at the library! See if you've read any good stories or see what those garrulous gremlins are up to this time! Or just to see how you were doing and to see if you wanted to break or some company for a bit!"
Re: Talk to Belle
"My hero," she told him with a little bow of her head. "I would love company, thank you. I'm always happy to have your company. There may be other decks of cards around here if you'd like to play or we can simply enjoy each other's company."
Not like that! Not in the library, omg.
Re: Talk to Belle
"Do you know any good card games?" he asked. "I know we have a ton of really interesting and cool ones at the ~Maaaaagpie Empooor~rium," really, the saddest thing about radio was that the full effect of saying it like that, with the wiggling fingers and everything, was really lost over an audio medium, but Belle was getting the full effect of it now, "but I know there's plenty of different variations on your standard deck, too! What kind of card cames did you play back home?"
Re: Talk to Belle
"I played a lot of solitaire," Belle admitted. "When I needed a break from reading." Sometimes her eyes got tired, okay? "Do you know good games for two? Or we could chat today and tomorrow I could come to the Magpiiiie Empoorium?"
Aw, Belle, you tried.
"And you could teach me a new game there?"
Re: Talk to Belle
Re: Talk to Belle
Belle, where were you last week for Supper Club at the ice cream parlor? Tsk.
"Jellybean though...would that have little jellybeans in the ice cream? That sounds delightful as long as they don't get too hard from being frozen." Breaking a tooth on a jellybean would be so sad and it wasn't like Fandom had a dentist.
"Would it be all flavors? Or just a few? Or just one? What would be the prototypical flavor of jellybean if there were only one?"
Re: Talk to Belle
"It would seem to me," said Graham, delighted that Belle had took his rambling questions and run with them, tapping his chin with his fingers as he thought, "that you wouldn't want to do all the flavors at once, you would need to do them separately, really let them shine on their own! I wonder what goes into something like making ice cream? Zounds, I bet there's a book on it! We should check! And then maybe try to make some this weekend!"
Re: Talk to Belle
And an ice cream book was unlikely to be kept in special collections. Probably.
"Cookbooks ought to be this way," she said, pointing. "Let's see what we can find out!"
And if they couldn't find a recipe in a book they had the whole internet to look at. What could possibly go wrong there?
Re: Talk to Belle
totally get distracted bydiscover along the way!"Yes!" Graham pumped his fist on excitement. "Let's go! Lead the way," he bowed again, sweeping and arm in a gesture toward where she pointed, "O Libriary Assistance of Great Guidance!"
And as they began to make their way
downtown, his brain buzzing with ideas, he asked, "If you could make an ice cream out of any flavor ever, what would you make?"Re: Talk to Belle
Belle headed in what was hopefully the direction of cookbooks unless the library stacks had rearranged themselves for unknown reasons.
"I wonder if pancakes and syrup would make a good ice cream?" she mused, running her hand along the spines of some books as she walked down a row. "Perhaps maple flavored with some pancake bits? Although waffle might hold up better..."

Re: Talk to Belle
The more the merrier and there were probably blankets somewhere around here if needed.
"And choco-chips sound like a fine idea! Perhaps we could try some with and some without." For science, of course.
