"Last week," Prompto, of course, was bouncing a little with the excitement of being the one to head class this time around, especially considering how much more erudite and imposing his fellow chocoteachers were, "we sort of got a feel for what part of a team we might best fit into and divided a little, and so it would just stand to reason that this week is all about conquering!"

"Which means," Ignis offered, "putting some of those skills and traits we discussed and worked on in last week's session to good use in actual combat."

"Well," Gladio amended with a snort, "as actual as it's going ot get in a sim. But yeah, this week, we wanna focus on the actual fighting, and this class is going to be a lot less of us teaching you guys much as just sort of overseeing a scenario where you guys can put some of the things we talked about into actual use with a battle, see how you bounce off of each other, and maybe discover if what you thought were your strengths in a certain area really are. That means you try and stick to the group you chose last week as best you can, and, if it's working out for you, great, lean into it, and if not? Time for a reevaluation and to consider a different approach."

"It took us a while to think about what kind of enemy we wanted you guys to fight," Prompto said, "and we knew we wanted to step away from the usual Bust-A-Base scenario we usually throw our classes into, but we've ultimately decided on one of these guys..."

Prompto gestured to a empty space to their side, where the ground suddenly seemed to begin to roil and shimmer with a strange dark energy, shot with purple energy and smoke, and what crawled up from within the dark portal with a great big grumbling groan was a massive daemon, practically as big as a house, all muscle and giant arms, which were clearly needed to heft his ridiculously enormous blade that put even Gladio's usual greatsword to shame. And as it pulled itself up to its great height and pulled back to let out a fearsome roar, a sort of surreal giggling sound accompanied it, as several bright flaming Bombs of varying colors seemed to spring up from their own smaller portals around him, grinning at the group with big sharp teeth and black, black eyes.

"These," Ignis explained, "are an Iron Giant and a variety of different elemental Bombs, common daemonic enemies from our daemon hunting days. We could, to borrow a phrase, practically fight these particular enemies with our eyes closed."

And, yes, there was a smirk there, but he continued. "However, I suspect they are quite new to you all, even if you have fought something similar. So we'd like you to take a few minutes to prepare yourself with weapons or other details before deciding, as a team, how best to meet this enemy, and then, of course, attempt to take them down."

"But don't worry," said Gladio, grinning, and throwing in a wink as he gave his own sword a bit of a twirl to his side before settling it comfortably across his broad shoulders, "we'll jump in if we start to feel like you guys could really need the help. You're not gonna, though...." He quirked a challenging eyebrow. "....right?"

Today class was outside, where a somewhat absurd looking bird sat between Cara and Jane, and Cara held a piece of paper with the kind of weary disbelief that came with animals regularly handing you notes to read. "Today we are apparently talking about the pelican."

Jane pinched the bridge of her nose, but nodded along with that. This was clearly the office moose's doing, right? Right. "Pelicans of various different varieties live throughout the world in the marshes, wetlands, and coasts."

Was the pelican attempting to fit her arm in it's beak? Yes. Yes, it was.

To be fair, most people's reaction to Jane's arms was to want to bite them.

Cara sighed and started flatly reading off her note. "Pelcan Mouth perfec t size for put baby in to n\ap! inside very Soft and Comfort baby sleep soundly put baby in Pelican Mouth." Not to be discouraged by its failure to eat Jane, the pelican was now beaking at Cara's boots.

"Shoo," Jane said, trying to discourage it from doing that. But really only encouraging it to toddle over to the nearest student to try with them. "Did the squirrels help with the note?"

"I mean, I didn't do a headcount of them this morning," Cara said, before continuing. "Put Baby In Pelican Mouth. no problems ever in peliccan mouth because good Shape and Support for baby neck weak of big baby head."

"I'm really rethinking a lot about the whole stork bringing a baby thing now," Jane said with a sigh.

The pelican perked up a disturbing amount at Jane mentioning babies, while Cara sighed again as she powered through. " Apelican Mouth yes a place for a baby put baby in pelican mouth can trust pelican for giveing good love to baby." Cara doubted that. A lot.

"Maybe this class was a mistake," Jane fully agreed as the pelican hopped up on the desk to once again... attempt to eat the both of them. It was not working and yet...

There were so many pirate books set out in the library today.

That was fine. Belle was happy to peruse some adventures on the high seas!

There was also a gremlin throwing a football.

"Absolutely not," Belle said firmly. "We do not play ball in the library. Because it is a library!"

The gremlin looked shocked. Belle just glared it into submission before picking up what looked like a thrilling (and perhaps spicy) pirate novel.

Lana smiled as everyone showed up at Portalocity and quickly led them through the portal. "Earth has a lot of different climates and some really interesting features. Today's is in the same country as Fandom, but very different. Welcome to the Grand Canyon. It's one of the planet's largest canyons, and it really is spectacular, isn't it?" It was a clear and sunny day, not too hot, but with wonderful visibility. "Apparently geologists still argue a bit, but it was almost certainly carved by the Colorado river, which still runs in the bottom of the canyon, and estimates put its development as over the last 70 million years, which makes it an excellent way to view the strata and determine the history of Earth."

She took a breath to just look at it. "We're currently on the south rim." She nodded back toward the nearby buildings. "There are demonstrations of the local culture and shops to buy things, if you like, or you can spend the entire time enjoying the view. Please do not attempt to climb down; I would rather not get us thrown out of the park, as they are rather strict about that. Also, I have bottled water; please stay hydrated, and head inside if you feel yourself growing too warm."
