Library, Thursday 9/19
There were so many pirate books set out in the library today.
That was fine. Belle was happy to peruse some adventures on the high seas!
There was also a gremlin throwing a football.
"Absolutely not," Belle said firmly. "We do not play ball in the library. Because it is a library!"
The gremlin looked shocked. Belle just glared it into submission before picking up what looked like a thrilling (and perhaps spicy) pirate novel.

Talk to Belle
Re: Talk to Belle
"Hi, Belle," she said. "How are you today?"
Re: Talk to Belle
"Glad the ball throwing has stopped," Belle said with a roll of her eyes. "And not entirely certain why there are so many pirate books today but they seem fun. And you, Eleanor?"
Re: Talk to Belle
"Really good, actually," Eleanor responded, with a wistful sort of wonderment over just how true that was. She smiled and held up a neat list of names from some of the preliminary research she'd done on her phone. "Just coming in to look for a few poets. Was someone really throwing a ball in here?"
She'd encountered a lot of crazy stuff in her life, sure, but this was a library!
Re: Talk to Belle
It probably jumped on some shelves too. They were just like that for unknown reasons.
"I'm glad you're doing well. Did you need help looking for anything? I don't think the poetry section has moved itself recently." But you never knew.
Re: Talk to Belle
"I'll come and ask for help if I need it," she assured Belle with a nod, "but I hope it won't be difficult to find them. I might need to dig up some translation dictionaries, too, if they're not in English, but I feel like this place almost always has those bases covered."
Re: Talk to Belle
"Is this for a project?" Belle asked. "Or just to find something new to read? I don't read poetry very often but I do enjoy it when I do."
Re: Talk to Belle
After a brief spark of a thought, she add, "Maybe will get the language books, too, anyway. It probably wouldn't hurt to try and learn."
How impressed would Kamala's parents be if the next thank you note was even written in Urdu? Eleanor was pretty sure she'd be set for life with them, at that point.
Re: Talk to Belle
Belle smiled brightly.
"Oh, I'm sure we must have some," Belle said. "This library always seems to have everything we could want."
Imagine how big their purchasing budget must be!
"The language books ought to be that way," she said, pointing. "And I know there are ways to practice new languages on phones as well."

Re: Talk to Belle
But they did have magic beans that made portals. Weird place.
"But it's so wonderful having so much information avaliable!"
Nerd.
"I don't know how I could possibly have managed here without one."
Re: Talk to Belle
Back home being the 1970s, and not the 1960s, it was totally the '70s this whole time, someone absolutely did not realize how much they messed up the math literally the other day, perish the thought, doo doo doo.
"And I know things would be a lot different for me without one now, too."
Not even just for information! The mere existence of texted messages had sent her social life into an unexpected trajectory that might have never been reached if not for them!
Re: Talk to Belle
Mostly technology, really. Possibly aliens?
"The phones are truly wonderful though. I'd hate to have to give one up to go home."
The home she hadn't visited even once since getting here. Don't worry about it.
