Lana smiled as everyone showed up at Portalocity and quickly led them through the portal. "Earth has a lot of different climates and some really interesting features. Today's is in the same country as Fandom, but very different. Welcome to the Grand Canyon. It's one of the planet's largest canyons, and it really is spectacular, isn't it?" It was a clear and sunny day, not too hot, but with wonderful visibility. "Apparently geologists still argue a bit, but it was almost certainly carved by the Colorado river, which still runs in the bottom of the canyon, and estimates put its development as over the last 70 million years, which makes it an excellent way to view the strata and determine the history of Earth."

She took a breath to just look at it. "We're currently on the south rim." She nodded back toward the nearby buildings. "There are demonstrations of the local culture and shops to buy things, if you like, or you can spend the entire time enjoying the view. Please do not attempt to climb down; I would rather not get us thrown out of the park, as they are rather strict about that. Also, I have bottled water; please stay hydrated, and head inside if you feel yourself growing too warm."

There was no gyro truck to distract her today, so Kamala was just standing there looking at the view. Her family trips had never taken her past the Mississippi so being able to see this and finally understand more than the pictures of it.

She settled down and just admired it all.

Eleanor's grandmother had wanted a house up by dramatic,drastic cliffs, plunging into the ocean, to remind her of the bluffs around where she grew up in the Mediterranean. There were no crashing waves down below, but she couldn't help wondering how elated Persephone would feel on the cusp of a rift such as this.

Her grandmother's ghost had left her when the house burned down, but she hoped she could still channel some whisp of her here when she closed her eyes for a moment and then opened them again to take it all in.

As close to over that rim as she could get.

It didn't take much to impress Graham, that was true, but he was pretty sure no one could blame him for it with this one!

Bright eyes gleaming with excitement and mouth slightly agape, he was absolutely leaning a bit too precariously over the railing for a better look, while his mind filled with all sorts of questions he couldn't wait to assail the poor gift shop staff with in a little bit!

There had to be dragons in there somewhere, right? Right? Was it made by a giant? Did dwarves or gnomes live down there? Why weren't they visiting them? Ooh. Maybe it was something leftover from a dark magic rift! Or a massive earthquake! From titans wrestling! How did it compare to the giant chasm he heard about that ran through Kolyma? Could they climb down there? Bungee jump? Was there a zipline???

Oh, and he was going to bring back so many souvenirs!
