Was there a very large spiked metal ball on one of the worktables that day that, upon closer inspection, may have looked suspiciously like a pufferfish?

Yes. Yes there was.

Don't worry about it.

"Morning, everyone," Amaya greeted the class this week with a nod and a poor attempt to stifle a yawn, but she shook her head a little and forged (HA!) forward all the same. "And welcome to your last Blacksmith Basics class. Unless, of course, you're interested in pursuing the art further, in which case, well, you know where to find me. It's hard to believe we're already at this point; we've barely even scratched the surface, really, of everything there is to know about blacksmithing, but the class is called Basics for a reason. You should, at the very least, have picked up enough to finish up your knives and daggers today, and that's where our focus will be. If you feel you've got it, go right on ahead, or if you need some help on those last touches, I'm here to offer it, and hopefully you'll be stepping out of this class with more than just some shiny new knowledge, but a shiny new knife as well.

"With where we left off last week, you should be ready to cut your wood block to form for your handle, so that's where we'll be starting today. You'll want to be careful, of course, and take your time with the cutting so you've got a nice shape ready to go for when we spruce it up a little with some rasping and smoothing, sanding and staining. And once that's finished..." She may have paused a moment to squash down another yawn, and...half succeeded, shaking her head. "Sorry. Late night. Anyway, rasping, smoothing, sanding, staining, and finally, sharpening the blades, and, if you feel so inclined, giving them a good test run with the dummies and targets.

"For some of you, these finishing touches may take a while, for some of you, not so much. So if you do finish a bit early, feel free to use the rest of the time to get back to the anvils again and just sort of work some metal around and experiment before we put a seal on this session and ship it off. Let me know if you have questions and....let's get started."

This had easily, hands down, been one of the best classes Rosa had taught at this school so far. All she had to do was show up, talk for a tiny bit, tell everyone what to do, and then they all did it in relative silence and focus for the remaining duration of the period. It was almost enough to make her want to keep doing it for other sessions and semesters, but, at the same time, that seemed to just be asking to spoil perfection. Best not tempt fate, especially when, technically, there was still one more lesson to go that could spoil it all.

She doubted it, but it definitely was possible.

"So it's our last class," Rosa said, "and we're still keeping it simple. Yoga shouldn't be complicated, it defeats the whole point. So we're going to over a few more intermediate poses to add to your repertoire. If they're still a little advanced for you, just focus on refining some of the previous ones we've learned. Then we'll just practice a bit of our breathing and meditation, and while we're doing that, if there's anything you've got questions about or want to go over before we finish for the session, you can ask."

Was there a slight element of but that doesn't mean I'll answer to the way she said that last part?

Probably.

"Of course, we're going to start with our sun salutation warm-up, so, everyone, get in a spot and we'll get started."

Today's final was not in the Danger Shop. This seemed ill-advised.

Regardless, your teachers stood proudly at the start line of a race. Of rickshaws. This seemed extremely ill-advised.

"Today is a true test of your skills," Jaskier proclaimed. "A race that will show who truly can drive one of these carts."

"A test of nerve and skill," Cara added. "As you lap the island three times." Because going over all those stairs once wasn't enough apparently.

"Three times?" Oh, Jaskier wasn't sure how he had the patience for that.

Cara sighed. Loudly. "Two times."

There was a gremlin in the library when Belle arrived this morning. That wasn't or of the ordinary. They often passed through or visited.

What was unusual was that the gremlin was playing a tiny banjo while walking around the stacks. It attracted a small audience of other gremlins and a few squirrels and that was also unusual.

Belle clapped, of course. She was a very polite audience member and the gremlin did seem quite talented.
