Cupcakes, Friday 6/24, 2nd period

“It’s our last class today,” Stark said. “I hope you’ve enjoyed yourselves. And your cupcakes. Even with the strange ingredients that kept appearing. Some of you enjoyed those more than others, I think.” Summer.

“This week I brought something from every week. All of the colors so far, and the rainbow ones. You can choose from all of it, if you like.”

He opened the first box in front of him. “For yellow I have lemons, and bananas, pineapple, yuzu, and,” Stark sighed a little, “ corn.”

He moved on to the second box. “For orange, oranges, orange soda, orange juice, carrots for carrot cake, mango, cantaloupe and for some reason still curry powder and sweet potatoes.”

“For white,” he said, opening the third box and hoping the garlic and onion weren’t there, “we have…onion and garlic.” He sighed and shook his head. “Unfortunately. I was hoping we wouldn’t. I was hoping for just other things. Like marshmallow that I forgot last time. And white chocolate, coconut, cream cheese, egg whites, macadamia nuts, and mayonnaise.”

“For pink we have…oh no. Why. We still have the Pepto Bismol. Even though it isn’t even food. And the shrimp. Of course we do. And the smoked salmon.”

“And there’s pink grapefruit, pink lemonade, dragon fruit, pink Starbursts," rose water and rose petals, pink cream soda from Canada, rhubarb, pink salt and pink peppercorns."

“I’m almost afraid to open the rainbow box,” he admitted. “In case there are new horrors contained within it. Maybe it will just be the rainbow trout? Which should not be combined with any other seafood. Or anything else.” Summer.

“I have candies again, rainbow candies. rainbow Nerds, and Skittles, M&M’s, rainbow sprinkles, and rainbow belts. Both of the rainbow cereals are in here. Food coloring, of course, and the rainbow carrots. And,” another sigh, “mixed vegetables. Again.”

“So many things to choose from. Please make good choices.” Yes, Stark was absolutely looking at Summer when he said that. He didn’t have high hopes but he had to try. “And have fun. I'll be making more rainbow ones. I liked the rainbow ones.”

"And so," said Summer, grinning from the front of the classroom as usual, "we've finally come to our last class...unless you take my follow-up during the next session, but, of course, I feel it's only appropriate, for our last official meeting of this session, to go back to the beginning and focus on what lead me down this horrible path in the first place: gelatin.

"Now, see, the nice thing about gelatin is that it's incredibly diverse. You can literally put anything in that shit, and, over the centuries, many people have, but it was really during the mid-century that people really decided to go buck-wild with it with the increasing popularity of commercialized gelatin brands like Jell-O. It was a really unique way to let their creativity fly and, boy did they. Now, since it's so ubiquitous, I could probably put anything in jello to present to this class, but I've decided to pick some real fan favorites and stunning choices to discuss today.

"So let's take a moment to talk about and discuss whether Spaghetti-os and Hot Dogs have any business being in this form, whether this jellied tomato refresher is really all that refreshing, how we feel about a noodle ring with creamed chicken, and finally, we explore 7-Up and Cheese.

"Also," she added, almost as if a side note, "it's not jello, but I also made these prawn stuffed apples, because it almost felt like a crime to finish off this class without including them."

Sometimes you wake up and just want to watch the world burn.

Beaker was in the Danger Shop today, wearing protective fire gear and surrounded by any number of compounds that should not be combined if you didn't want things to explode.

"Meep meep meep mee!" he intoned dramatically.

Today, class, you will make ALL THE THINGS EXPLODE.

"You've all done...interestingly in this class," Lana said. "I hope you've learned a bit about what to expect from each other and how that might help you work together."

She adjusted the Danger Shop controls, and the end of the room they were in became an armory. "Choose anything you like, powers also completely welcome, when you step outside that door, everything is hostile. Keep each other alive!"

She had been tempted to bring popcorn, but today she was more excited to just bring her lightsaber.

Library - Friday

It had taken her a while but Jo had spent the week working on her letter to Miss Grayling, apologising for everything that had happened while she had been at Malory Towers, for not taking the chance that she had been given and now that she had been at her new school … she could see where she had gone wrong and was trying to do better. She had sent off the letter this morning before she started her shift and she wasn’t sure if she wanted a reply or not, she was scared of her former Head Mistress but hopefully she knew that she was deeply sorry about what had happened in the lead up to her getting expelled and now she felt better that she had formerly apologised to her.

Her shift was uneventful, the library seemed to be rather quiet - which she was starting to get a bit suspicious about since it had been quiet for her for a quite a number of weeks now but she was trying to not question it and once she had put away the books she needed to reshelve she decided to do a bit of reading.
