For their very first meeting, this Art of Napping lesson would not be nearly as extreme as one might think from the title of the class, but the amount of pillows in the room would easily fit that description. Not the lounging, decorative, sitting pillows that would usually adorn Shunsui's classroom, although there were a few of those, set in a circle in the middle of the piles of pillows like a sea of clouds. All different types and sizes, even historical ones that were decidedly not as soft and fluffy as some of the others. And Shunsui sat, legs folded in front of him, pouring himself a cup of tea from the teapot set before him, and gestured as the students came in.

"Ohayƍ gozaimasu, my fellow nap enthusiasts ♥," he greeted them with a sort of lazily cheerful drawl. "Come in, come in, have a seat ♥! If you're anything like me, then our particular decor of choice for the day is already getting you in the mood for napping, but there are just a few pesky little housekkeeping things to take care of first ♥. But I do have some nice, relaxing, sophoriphic chammomile tea for you to enjoy if you so desire, so, please. Have a cup, get comfortable, and we shall begin ♥."

And once it seemed that, for the most part, everyone had managed to do just that, he got things underway. "Welcome, of course, to the Art of Napping, Extreme Edition, although that part will come in our following sessions, not so much today ♥. Today we will merely be getting to know each other and getting to know our preferences with that ever-important napping factor of what pillow you may be usuing ♥. This will be our only meeting here in the classroom; all others will involve a bit of travel, so I hope your adventuring spirit is in good relations with your napping one ♥.

"But today? Good tea, good company, good pillows ♥. I would like us all to take a moment to introduce ourselves, maybe tell us a little bit about your napping experiences, and perhaps if you already have some experience with extreme napping, let's hear about that as well ♥. If anything, I'd like you to try to think of what your own personal most extreme nap may have been ♥."

He took a sip of his tea and sent his contentedly sleepy gaze around the circle.

"Any questions before we begin ♥?"

The class had been told to meet out by the old high school camping area: an ideal locale that gave lots of cabins to hide behind or snipe from on top, as well as trees and collapsing piles of logs.

Steve and Tony had also modified the area with fences, ropes to climb up and swing from, plexiglass barriers to hide behind...it was a lot. They'd learned from last summer's class that the people on this island took paintball unbelievably seriously.

"Welcome to our first class," Steve said, grinning. "Grab yourself a suit, some goggles, and a weapon. In future classes you can bring your own suit, if you have one, but please use our weapons to make sure we're all starting out with the same quality."

"The suits are a must unless you really want to go avant-garde with your fashion choices," Tony added. "Now, this class is simple. It's a battle Royale to see who lasts the longest without getting hit."

"As the summer goes on, we'll add additional barriers, or put you into small teams," Steve said, "but for today, it's every being for themselves. Today we're using paint guns. Other classes we might use balloons, or cans of paint, or something that Tony invents to cause additional mayhem--" Steve grinned. He loved when Tony came up with something to cause more mayhem. Ahem. Learning opportunities. "--but right now, we'll keep it classic."

"Let's get to it!" No time like now to get shot with paint, right?"

"Good morning, everybody." Was it morning? It was...day. Close enough. Jon gave them all a professional if slightly awkward nod. "This is...well, less a class than a learning opportunity, to hopefully help anybody who's unfamiliar with current culture in this area.

"Today, let's start by introducing ourselves and when and where we're from. My name is Jonathan Sims, and I'm from London in the UK, which is a different country from the one we're nominally in, but the same planet. I came here from...let's say functionally 2019, although for a few years previous I was too occupied to keep track of pop culture, so I'll be catching up on a few years." He nodded at the first student to continue.

After that, he nodded again. "Right. First thing to get acquainted with then is a phone." He held up his. "If you don't have one yet, you can come see mine or look over someone else's shoulder. These are very important these days, and not even primarily for making calls. Apps are the things on the screen, and there are some widely used ones, like Instagram, Twitter, and even god help us Tiktok, that are good to know your way around." Yes, Melanie, he knew what a meme was. "Let's all get accounts and learn our way around if you haven't yet, and try not to get swamped by all the trolling masquerading as discourse. Let me know if you need help."

Hope you were all here nice and early kids (and Margo)! Because your teachers weren't. Instead showing up fashionably late and somewhat rumpled. It was entirely possible that was because they stayed up late planning class and the time got away from them, but that extremely noble excuse wouldn't explain the hickeys.

"Hello everyone," Isabela greeted them all enthusiastically. "I'm Isabela, Captain Isabela if you want to be formal or just like big boats, which I'm sure you all do."

Aphra stifled a yawn behind one hand. "Doctor Aphra, my reputation precedes me. Unless you're new." In which case she didn't care. "Anyway this is 'Disaster! Or Opportunity, Actually?' a class all about discovering that success and failure are all matters of perspective." As taught by two bonafide disasters.

"But first there's that old Fandom tradition of slacking off during the first class with introductions." Isabela, saying the quiet part out loud. "I mean you barely have to do anything with that."

Anyone under the tragically mistaken impression that Isabela was going to be a good influence here was by now probably realising that she wasn't.

Oh, no, did that mean Aphra was going to have to be the responsible one? This was not part of the plan. "What the good Captain means is that all that stuff you've been told about first impressions and how you don't get second chances at making them, it's bantha poodoo," she said. "Mostly because you don't even really get to make that first one. Because people like to judge, even when they tell themselves they don't. They'll take what little they know about you and yours and make up their minds before you even open your mouth."

"Which just makes it all the more satisfying when you prove them wrong." By showing that sterotypes and quick judgement were misguided and wrong. "By stealing their stuff, usually. Sometimes stabbing's involved." Isabela, you were a pirate who often openly carried around multiple large daggers, what first impressions exactly were you proving wrong by doing that?

"Shooting is also an option." Aphra, you were making it worse. "In any case, let's hear it. Name, class if you're a student, some outrageous lie about yourself. Because sincerity is for chumps!"
